Hard Testing of Makita's new outdoor power tools

- Makita sent us their new outdoor power tools with no restrictions on how we test them. So we go straight out of the box and straight into the Mud with the new lawn mower, then Sam and Franky attempt to bind up the weed whip and Sam and I try to bog down and overpower the power broom. We didn't buy them so we don't plan on being nice to them.

I was a contractor and now retired when I first felt Makita in my hand I knew these tools had a lot of R&D done. I had Milwaukee and few other brands and went through them. Now all my tools are strictly Makita and for a few simple reasons they stayed with 18volt and improved that with the run time and they fit a multiple of there tools. I've been waiting for a long time for this mower and they finally came out with a killer one!!!! Thank you Makita!
People who know tools, over decades, wind up with Makita, even if they stray for a few years to try other ones
makita has a 40v system now and those are really good for the high power and demanding applications
Same here everything u said
I worked in construction nearly 4 years and I got a great respect for makita, that’s all we used and drilling stainless steel tubes all The Time. Great to see Their outdoor power equipment.
I just bought the Makita self-propelled 21" brushless mower a week ago and couldn't be happier! It's first task was grass that was 14" high...in the whole yard!! It tacked it no problem!!
I’m in! Makita, in my opinion, was more innovative in their design in understanding the user. I don’t want a gigantic battery that’s good for only one thing.
I am going to back this up for multiple reasons
1) If you drop a BIG battery from a scaffold, you just lost a lot more money, than one 18V Makita battery
2) If you are a contractor, with just Makita tools, vs any other brand, you have one battery line and one size battery in most cases, that charge in 45 minutes, on their standard fast charger. Bigger tools need 36V so it is 2 of the same batteries... those same batteries, go on all 18V applications... talk about easy jobsite management.... all the same
3) People like the idea of BIGGER and MORE... but that doesn't mean more reliable, more ergonomic, or even more power. Makita has plenty of power on all of their stuff, and the most power on a lot of their stuff But they have a higher quality line, dollar for dollar, than anyone else
Thank you for going against the grain and getting straight to the point unlike most videos. Good video.
I just got this mower Stan. It’s a pretty damn good mower. Way different than my 48” walk behind but I went from over half an acre to around 1/4 acre. I also moved from New Jersey to northern Canada so it wouldn’t have been easy to get my mower over the border. The only time I got it to stop completely was on high grass over a foot tall, it was my neighbors yard, just trying to see what it could do. I’ll in all I’m really impressed with it and I don’t have to deal with gas and carb issues anymore which is priceless. I sold my stihl weedwhacker and got the 18 volt makita. I wish I had bought the 36 after watching your vid. I kept my stihl chainsaw but rarely use it since I got the makitas. I have the short bar and the double battery. The only thing I’m keeping gas is the back pack blower for the dry snow up her. I have the 18 and 36v makita blowers but they can’t keep up with the snow this far north but the stihl can.
I've been looking at the Makita system tools for a while now. The chainsaw and hedge trimmer seem to be beating out all the competition. That lawn mower was the bomb! I think we can all agree that the battery powered tools have come a long way and as time goes along, more customers are interested in their lawn care providers not using two stroke equipment. Great review Stan!
I have been using makita power tools for along time and they all are up for any challenge I can through at them. I bought the 18 volt hedge trimmer and that thing has plenty of power and run time for what I trim. My next lawn tool will be the strong trimmer. Not sure if I would get the 36 or 18 volt
@@brandonblanchard7077 You don't have to breathe the pollution created by batteries though, and that's all they really care about
I was using my NEW dux60 multi-tool 🇦🇺 with my free whipper snipper attachment (Thanks Makita redemptions) when I did manage to bind up the head. Thick stringy weeds, Turned it over to try and pull the weeds out, NO GO! then I remembered the reverse button! weeds spun free instantly! didn't even need to do it twice. So I can tell you it works AWESOME! Great video btw
I like seeing all of your video's. It's good to see you change up from time to time. Looking forward to the next one.
That's a brilliant backpack system.
Ego is better
@@MrSamu149 Makita runs 30 times more tools than Ego. Ego is focused on one thing. Makita can build or demo anything. Makita is for people that LOVE TOOLS and also want a strong OPE system then can run the same battery system. Battery system proven in the harshest conditions imaginable for 15 years + not to mention the over 100 year history of the highest overall quality tools in the planet
Agreed, on the back back system and on number of tools it can run. Makita batteries will be running long after you need to buy a replacement for Ego. The stringer trimmer and blower are both brushless and with the addition of the backpack make them way more versatile than my gas trimmer or blower. Sold.
@@MrSamu149 ego is just milwaukee ope made by techtronic industries.
Makita and Milwaukee are two brands I trust very much, these look incredible!
I agree with ya. Mil has 5 year warranty on the tools where as Mak has 3. The parts for Mak are a lot less expensive though when not under warranty.
@@Mattofthesharpe Warranties are more of a marketing scam, for ALL tool companies... Look at the fine print 'Warrantied against manufacturing defects" and the other one "Normal wear and tear". Milwaukee won't honor a warranty for 1 year if they decide the tool is not under normal 'wear and tear'. But, people fall for it, same as the 'lifetime' warranty for Rigid
@@travisjazzbo3490 Depending on what warranty center you take it to. I work for a local one in my area that is both Makita and Milwaukee authorized service center. Most of the time our warranty reps will approve a repair on anything unless it's blatantly obvious it is misuse. But again it also depends on your area and warranty person that denies or approves the work.
@@Mattofthesharpe You made an interesting point about Milwaukee costing more for parts and I believe service in general. If you have both, you can see where the priorities are for each company.
My point is this. As a for instance, Makita has grinders that are used in the stone business and they are #1 in that business, by far, as they are proven to last longer. However, if a grinder comes into a Makita repair center at 6 months of hard, but 'normal' use, from the stone world, it is not going to be fixed for free, and the stone business knows that. Now, these particular grinders are for that business, but they get run extremely hard, so they aren't gonna last even a year in most cases, without a motor burning out etc. So, warranties aren't even really looked at in that world, UNLESS it was an obvious factory defect of course.
So a tech will look at something in the tool, and something is 'worn out' through normal 'wear and tear' the standard is to charge the customer.
Now, OF COURSE, and I know this from personal experience, if you are an excellent Makita customer for instance, and the local service center knows you, they will make exceptions. Also, Factory Authorized Centers can also help you A LOT MORE, making exceptions more often, because they are not micromanaged by Milwaukee and Makita and the like.... Tons of gray area where, like I said, 3 years, 5 years, lifetime... really makes little difference.
IMHO, it is the line that lasts the longest, because even if a Milwaukee was excellent about honoring 5 years, again and again, if they break 5 times in 5 years, and the Makita breaks once, I am going with Makita.
Same reason I would go with a Toyota over a Chevy. Chevy may have a better warranty, but I know there is a 95% chance I will have less issues, with the Toyota... Anyway, just my VERY LONG 2 cents
I Trust Ego as Well and Ryobi on their weedwhacker I own is a Beast
"luckily for me, I've got weeds everywhere, because I own a lawn company" 😂😂😂👊
ahhh- you got it.
Literally how it works. When all your mowers have crap littered on them, welcome to paradise
The Lawn Care Nut LOL
@@Dirtmonkey hello in by I by fast in out by my mom
Thanks for running the gauntlet on these new battery powered tools. I'm impressed at how far batter powered tools have progressed.
Excellent video. I'm a contractor with Makita tools making up the bulk of my tools. My gas Husqvarna lawn mower deck is done and I like this Makita self propelled mower you demonstrated. I'm sold. Good job on the heavy testing. Makita brand name rocks. God bless.
I've been running the older version of that Li/Ion dual line string trimmer for about 3 years and I love it. Light duty home owner stuff and does a great job while being super convenient. I never thought I'd see the day I would stray from an echo 2 stroke but I haven't missed it a bit. Had a black and decker 36V lead/acid electric mower for about 4 years and replaced it with a Honda. These mowers need Li/Ion batteries.
When Makita starts making electric riding mowers I'm all in. That push mower make me wish I had a use for it though. It really is powerful.
Check out greenworks commercial machines, they have a full range.
Ryobi 480e and 480e ZTR
Ryoby is not comparable to makita
@@alanbarboza781 True, Makita has zero riding movers, Ryobi has at least two. There is nothing to compare. Nada. 😜😂
I'm hoping they come out with a brush cutter.
I do things backwards. I just bought this mower with (4) 5.0AH batteries and a rapid charger for $699 from HD. After clicking "Complete Purchase" I started watching reviews. Based on your video, I think I selected wisely. I returned a Greenworks Pro 60v mower last summer after 60 days because GWP was unable to send me a replacement for the warped mulch plug. No parts = no warranty. I'm looking forward to receiving this mower at the end of the week. I almost pulled the plug on a Milwaukee 36v mower, but LOTS of 1 star reviews regarding defective 12.0AH batteries. I should also say that the mower I'm replacing is a 31 year old LawnBoy M-Series that I bought new. The engine still runs strong, but the drive and electric start have both died. Time to enter the 2020's! Thanks for this informative and entertaining review!
Really good video! Your product reviews are real world conditions and provide good information. I know this is an older video, but it is helping me with a purchase in 2022. Keep up the good work!
I like the job site and tool reviews videos keep mixing them both. Impressive mower and strong trimmer. Nice of them to send to you for real world trial run to show everyone.
I just bought that 368 Strimmer on the weekend and it was awesome. Tropical climate, wet season long grass, it chewed through it all. Very happy with that purchase. I also have that 18vx2 blower for a couple years now. Great machine, but chews through the batteries like no other Makita tool I have!
That was a great demonstration and they are all impressive tools.
That mower would be phenomenal with shorter grass, my old Sthil mower would do the same area with just one battery if I walk briskly which you can only do with shorter grass. Walking briskly and cutting the grass more quickly without labouring the motor can save power because the built in fan is also doing work and contributes to battery drain as it would if were standing still so shorter on time saves power. Also keeping your blades sharp will allow you to walk more briskly without loading the motor.
I have the Mikita 36 Volt Couple Shaft Power Head with the Brush Cutter (heavy duty string trimmer) Attachment and it is a BEAST! It is different from the model that was tested in the video with the motor located in the power head which drives a solid steel shaft that is splined just below the handle with a simple but robust coupling that mates to whatever attachment is being used. It also has 3 different speeds and the 3 second reverse as well but it doesn’t have the ability to automatically switch speeds.
I’ve used mine to start reclaiming some overgrown areas that are too rough to mow (can’t see the rocks to remove them) and it has never backed down, it will automatically stop if the load is too great to protect the tool. The reverse feature works really well to clear the head as long as you stop and reverse it before the long stems get wrapped up tight (tall fescue). I think that the Couple Shaft string trimmer and brush cutter are more likely to have grass wrap around them as opposed to the models with the direct drive motor since the bulk of the motor helps to shield the head from tall material. The ONLY negative thing about the Brush Cutter Attachment is that you need an additional kit from Mikita to attach a blade to the Brush Cutter Head and that doesn’t make sense to me. The lawnmower looks great as well but I have to point out one thing, Mikita wasn’t the first company to have an electric drive mower that increases power to the blades when the load increases, I have a RAVEN MPV 7100 that does exactly the same thing but it’s a Lawnmower/Generator/ATV (although it’s limited on its off road abilities and you shouldn’t cross any sort of deep water with it). Yes I know that the company (Denver Global Products) has gone out of business and there were major quality control issues with the machine but so far mine has been pretty reliable. It’s a great concept with an all electric drive (48 Volts like an electric golf cart with a 2 speed transmission) a gas powered generator, and a 46” mower deck with 2 direct drive electric motors that van mow through tall wet fescue with ease! It is easily one of the most useful tools on my farm and I hope that Mikita will eventually develop and market their own version.
Love the comparison. Can you give us an estimate of how many square feet (or acres) was that you mowed with those 4 batteries?? Not sure what "normal size" lawn is where you are....
The ryobi electric mower as the same automatic torque adjustment. I forget which model but I definitely notice that it’s a lot quieter when I’m rolling it on the driveway rather than mowing
More tools... Damn that weed walker took some abuse! Solid editing & content once again... thx
love the mikita mower, i have the stihl battery operated mower myself it will automatically adjust blade speed as well when it gets into higher grass. love you guys keep up the amazing videos.
Awesome review! Would love to see you guys put some other competitive tools through the same beating. Great video!
I actually just bought the string trimmer with the "two free batteries" deal. I'm pretty impressed, it's lighter than my old Craftsman 2 stroke and has more power (though admittedly it's not a high end unit). When I put that Makita on high you better be wearing eye protection and plan on washing your hair twice in the shower afterward if you don't wear a hat.
How long does the trimmer last with 4 full batteries?
@@scoutingdaniel In case you don't get a reply i get around 20 minutes with two. Although I'm guessing you might be aware.
Only reason I'd go for a electric string trimmer is 1) Don't have much edging that needs it. And 2) I got it in my head they're easier to start and maintain than a gas. 3) have operated several gas string ones, and they all crap out almost every year. My current one is a STIHL, it's been good to me; except for one big issue. No matter what gas/oil I use, it will only start easily with the expensive "Pre-mixed" fuel of the same brand. Hmmm...
@@atchmon902 I take it you don't do any sortve pm on your tools? 2 stroke Engines can last a long time if you take care of it. I've had the same set of tools for the last 3 years commercial use
@@werroloco3112 never had one long enough to get to that point. Cheaper to buy a new one than spend all the time and money fixing whatever went wrong. Usually works for the summer, then store it, works for about a month, gets impossible to start, then I buy a new one.
I had a 2 stroke weed wacker ran like crap all the time.I'm so glad they're coming out with electric battery operated machines for a guy of my age fixing mowers all my life the size of my lawn which is small this is a godsend
Thank you so much for this. I'ver been looking at this mower but there's nothing like being able to see how it works in the real world and to get an idea of the noise it makes too.
I think it would be a great idea to add the model numbers of the machines you've tested though.
Thank you so much for this review. This was the perfect demonstration what the makita can mow. this review was even better than all reviews I found in my own language. Now I am sure I want this 😍 Thank you so much 😊 ... I didn't knew I can mew this wet grass... wow!
Love the way the Makita mower takes cheap, common batteries instead of 56v-100v monsters that cost a fortune when they fail.
Most people don't understand the HUGE VALUE in this. The fact is, Makita can run well over 270 tools on ONE BATTERY platform, with some of the higher power applications, just use 2 batteries to get a full 36V, which is plenty!
Love me one of them powerbroom and the rest of the tools lol! Awesome tools and review! Also what a fantastic piece of property and homestead!
that grass mover is legit! i pulled the trigger and bought a simpler makita one without speed adjusting.
that backpack is great and having one size battery is great too. now you can get twice the runtime which is really useful
Great Testing and Reviews. Very Informative.Thank You for taking the time to make this video.

Brilliant test on the lawnmower. Well done.
I was scanning for the model number all the way through, took a screenshot in the end to compare with online pics. There a lot of them and not always available on both sides of the pond. Top review.
Were you tempted at any time to post the model number here?
As always helpful info and great testing, sweet log home 👍🏽
My kobalt shifts up and down too. Depending on the thickness of the grass. That backpack for your batteries is awesome. Definitely like what makita is doing
Nice video Stanley, as are your other videos; informative and entertaining. One thing I would have liked is as you and your guys use the trimmer, mower, blower and power broom, if you could comment how each compares to your gas powered everyday users.
Its nice to see makita innovating.
That backpack is well handy.
Thanks Stan. Love that you go 150% on test tools. Work them to the limit. No mercy for cheap crap.
That was great to watch, and I don't even have a lawn! 😅
love ur vids like all your ridding mowers 👍🏻👌🏻 and skid steals
Always like to see new tools 😀👍
Does the reverse function on the trimmer run at full speed? I think it would be more useful for edging so you can always keep the debris from flying at you, depending on the direction your going along.
While I would really like that (For me it would be throwing it always to the side I have cut down already so to not make it harder on the next lane) I have a feeling it does not, or is time limited. Since the tread if designed to tighten in the normal run direction, it would losen the screw on reverse. I am sure they limit the chance of it coming lose somehow. (Time and or power)
I just bought this mower for my lawn that is hilly and with the both rear wheel drive works great. I have a gas Toro that I have to push even though it's self propelled one direction because only one rear wheel turns and spins not moving the mower, love the Makita that was on sale at home depot.
Well thanks you just made my mind up I was twisting between this and the Ego system, but this has so many options, I knew that if you said it was good and could pass your testing , then my weekend warrior status will be okay. Thank you and keep the awesome content, I look forward your video’s
Love the tool reviews Stan, thanks mate

I'm actually very impressed by that mower. Makita does things right that's for sure
More job sites I’ve learned from your videos thank you
I like my Ego stuff but I do have some Makita tools too. Ego mower does increase power when going through thicker stuff. Impressive demonstration and awesome tools from Makita.
I am impressed on all of them they did a good job.
Thanks for the video
What I didn't see mentioned you can charge 2 5amp batteries in 45 min to full charge. So in the mowers case, you could mow almost continuously by charging the other pair while mowing or trimming.
Great review! I have lots of Makita tools but I think I'm going to pick up the string trimmer now
Suggestion for the next review, I’d like to see a comparison with the 80v setup at harbor freight Lawnmower, blower etc,
When trimming curb or landscape beds, you have to be careful which way the trimmer is spinning so that you are throwing the grass back into the lawn not the street or the mulch. We run a Milwaukee cordless trimmer along with all of our echo ones and I've often thought we could be more efficient if it would let us alternate which direction it Spins.
Why on earth would it later if it goes into the street? You're going to blow it anyways, right?
@@xenonram Why blow off the street if you don't put any grass on it?
You would definitely be more efficient being able to switch directions on demand. By a long shot.
@@loerber He meant blow it onto the street lol. It seems every lawn guy in a 100 mile radius around here blows the clippings into the street and letting the rain/cars/wind do the rest. I'm no lawn guy but I've always assumed that was free fertilizer being directed toward the nearest storm drains...
Really appreciate that you didn’t need a long typical “music intro” and got to the point. Good video, well done fast motion etc, very watchable to the end. Hey, you guys would be the right ones to do a comparison with some of the after market batteries available…how do they compare in run time and longevity? The price point is a real draw but are they worth it? thx
Hi Stanley! Great video, thanks! Bill
I never considered battery powered equipment until now. Every piece appears well engineered.
Should have run the second set of batteries on the mower with it mulching to see if that affects runtime. Given the lack of discharge on that mower, I wouldn’t want to use it unless I was mulching. That thing left windrows behind.
It left windrows behind because the grass was soggy as hell..
Got the ryobi 40v mower recently, and it’s fantastic, the only thing I don’t like is it only mulches and doesn’t have the option to kick grass out the side of the mower
Love the tool reviews, also really enjoy watching the site work. The videos are brilliantly edited, Love watching them.
Two things I need to know how many square feet did the 4 batteries do and what is the voltage and amps of each battery? Thanks for the video
His house looks like a Thomas Kinkade painting. Really nice 👍
For the power shifting thing in the mower, i have a different electric mower that does the same thing.
In fact, im pretty sure a lot of electric mowers can sense cause ive got one from a different company and it shifts in torque too.
I do like that makita allows you to use all your same tools and batteries rather a bunch of different size batteries
Dewalt is the same, I feel dewalt has better battery life in my experience
Great edit man! Keep it up.
Just recently I bought a Makita hedge trimmer, of of their newer professional models that runs on 1 battery. But I don't see a socket where I could plug that back pack battery. It's sad they didn't include the hedge trimmer into this. I can see huge benefit, not for long run time cause you can always replace a battery when it runs out but the weight thing. It would be much lighter without a battery attached to it and you could do your work longer without fatigue.
Also Stanley, do you think this new Makita lawnmower could be a pro product fir every day usage? I have a small lawn care business and I have some small lawns, would this be better than the one I currently use, a Honda? What would be the benefits compared to my Honda? DOwnside is of course the run time....Thnx..
Nice video, thanks for sharing. Shows honestly the capabilities of these tools! Can you name the exact type mower used in the video? Probably starts with DLM... Thank you.
@ 3:14 - That is literally my first table I got myself in my first apartment. I used it as a "kitchen table" lol.
I get battery power mowers but... I'll never give up my Honda push mower. Thing has been a champ for years, 1 pull start every time. Cuts clean, runs great and has a ton of power
A full tank of fuel cuts an acre plot about 3 times too
Same I have a Briggs and a Honda push mower and love then both. Honda though is on a different lvl. Both my mowers are about 5 years old and they both start on one pull, but the Honda runs so smooth and balanced and is a freaking beast with top notch quality.
Good vid! May just take the plunge on this XMLO8PT1 self-propelled mower setup. Right now the mower/four 5.0 Ah batts/dual rapid charger combo deal can be had for $699 (same price as the identical XML07PT1 setup without self-propel). Currently have twelve 5.0 Ah batteries, four 4.0 Ah batteries, four dual rapid chargers, two single rapid chargers so it only stands to reason. Mower seems pretty damn tough and would work fine on my level, roughly 1/2 acre yard no doubt. Appreciate the vid and subbed to the channel.
Semper Fi!
I'm liking what I see here. I'm leaning makita. On cordless brand switch now.
Still like see some Milwaukee comparisons
@Steve Smith Nothing against makita or Milwaukee at all. Might be worth looking into stihls battery powered offerings depending on the primary use of the OPE and their batteries.

I hear ya.
I'm looking for overall tool use. I would like to commonize whole deal.
1 brand 1 battery.
Currently have 4 brands.
Not one brand has the best tool for every job. Honestly would like to switch to Makita since they’re not a conglomerate and they don’t make you buy different batteries for higher powered tools (looking at Dewalts 60v 😐). This backpack and mower really seal the deal. Once I have more $$ I’ll sell off the Dewalt equipment and switch out.
Im upgrading from using ryobi for years to makita. Ive been researching for months now, and makita seems the way to go for me.
@Steve Smith Totally understood. I am in the same boat. I think these makitas are looking really stout. If you decide to go this route, it definitely looks like a great choice

Stan you should try to get your hands on the ryobi zero turn and try it out. I would love to see how it would hold up from a commercial stand point
The Hart 40v mowers from walmart have some kind of variable torque system as well and will ramp up the torque when needed.
That Hart line is actually pretty damn good. I've seen reviews where that stuff is right there with Riggid and Ryobi
@@zuestoots5176 well I mean it's made by the exact same people lol
@@korona277 that doesn't mean anything. Just because one company owns another company doesn't necessarily mean the products are in any way related. Even if they are made in the same factory, it doesn't necessarily mean the products are on par with one another. (Especially when talking about Chinese manufacturers where they can make iPhones on one production line, and have some janky harbor freight junk running on the line next to it.)
As far as variable speeds go, Ryobi, Ego, and the rest pretty much all have that functionality.
I use the string trimmer all the time and it gets jammed on flax plant leaves. Once dried they are very string like and get wound around the head very easily. Also I noticed that your grass is very green. My weeds are often dried and hard (in an Australian summer). They also get wound around the head.
Pretty awesome! Awesome tools 🛠. I’m looking in aBattery trimmer / blower which one would crew pick.. I’d love to know
@Midway sales Upstate New York My Stihl dealer let me demo a kma130. Maybe stop in and see a Stihl dealer. Ask about a demo. Can’t hurt. Also the kma130 or kombi system lets you use one power head to run a wide variety of attachments. Including a line trimmer, blower and power broom bristles or paddle style. Worth a look. Also, any mowing crew with experience will take a gasser over a battery any day. No question. But if your a medium to heavy use home/business owner, to attempt running solely on battery power IS feasible however. Just my opinion
Stan, guys. How about the Mikita vs Stihl electric lines? Product by product.
the stihl mower switches on it's own from one battery to the next
Makitas not even close.
Josh Paulette I think you forget to mention that the makita is just making headway into these areas of work unlike stihl has been in the game for quite some time
STIHL will always dominate the gas/electric lawn tools! Hands down!
Stihl are marketing gorillas...
I like the multiple battery setup.
I only looked at her go and Ryobi about a year ago maybe less, and both those mowers do have Dynamic power based on the amount they need to cut through, so Makita is certainly not the only company that has this technology. Your run-of-the-mill commonly found units have it too.
are these the 18v systems alone? interested to see how the 40v will perform, i'm not likely to change platform though
Love Makita products ! They never disappoint.
I have chosen the Makita battery power tools about 10 years ago, I must have 10 batteries, still have my original batteries, just charge and go, 2 reasons I choose Makita, first is their commitment that they will always keep the 18 volt battery system, second is because Makita is the only tool manufacturer that is designing each of their battery motor to optimise the 18 volts battery, and when needed, they will use 2 battery to bring the voltage to 36 volts, not sell new 36 volts battery. Their quick charger has a fan to cool the batteries while they are being recharged, so as soon as you take it from the charger, it's ready to go, not too freaking hot that you need to let it cool down...love my Makita tools, my last addition is the 1/2 high torque impact wrench, when a bolt is jammed I get the impact out and say "resistance is futile you will be unscrewed!!!" lolllllll
Makita says they'll keep introducing more 18v tools, but they're also rolling out a new 40v battery platform. The first tools (hammer-drill, impact driver, recip saw) have gone on sale in Japan and should be available in the US soon.

EGO is better if you do not plan on using non-lawn power tools. If you use drills, impact guns, circular saw, et cetera, the Makita will be the better option.
The Ryobi 40v mower I've had for a few years torques up/down to conditions as well. ~30-40 minutes of runtime off of a single 40v 5amp battery, has a compartment for a second battery, but have to manually swap them over, with running self propelled, so tend to get near an hour. Though I'm not sure how long it would run with that soggy forest you were putting it through :P
Only time I've had it bind up was when I didn't notice a new ant hill. ...they were not happy, were probably less happy with the grits they had for dinner a few days later.
I’m interested to see how this stacks up against the Ego, Ryobi, Kobalt, etc. I have an Ego mower with a 7.5 Ah battery and can mow my lawn in 60-75 minutes on a single charge. But, I also don’t let my grass get this long. It does have the torque adjustment like the Makita (I’m assuming all electric mowers do).
Ego Batteries notoriously go bad after 4 or 5 years is what I keep hearing over and over and also, not built as well. However, other than the battery thing, which can be very expensive, most people - homeowners - are generally happy with EGO.
I like my ego equipment but if you have to buy extra batteries. 2.5 amp $149, 5 amp $249, 7.5 amp $349.
autosensing how much power to add and this was the 1st time you've seen this? my snapper 60v push mower does this.i've had it 3 years now.
I’m getting very interested in Makita tools. I hear a lot of good stuff about them. I’m in search of a new Impacted
😉
Makita makes the best impacts on the world. They also invented it
My dad got the trimmer and man I gotta say I love it and I work in the industry 😂😂
I have all Ryobi Brush less 40v outdoor tools and I have to say that they don't perform better or worse that Ryobi but cost less. I cut 1/2 acre of grass about 4ft and set on mulching and had to go over each spot 3-4 times and cut everything with 2 batteries one 6 amp and one 4 amp. Ryobi also has the auto load sensing feature which adds torque on higher grass.
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
