Hobby horsing is so annoying. It disgraces the beauty and years of hardwork you have to actually put in on a real horse to even do a jump. You take away how difficult horse riding is mentally and the way it makes you feel. Hobby horsing, you move your legs and wow! You just piaffed, want to jump? Wow, just jump over a skinny pole! Every horse person (that does not include hobby horse people) remembers their first pony, first time they cleared 1m, their first time getting on the bit properly and having confidence setbacks and confidence boosts. Hobby horsing doesn’t have that. Equestrians fight so hard to have their sport shown respect. People believe its not a sport and honestly, if this is how you are displaying our sport, they have a right to believe it isn’t a real sport.
frrr and i used to do it with my friends but we all know how to ride it was js something silly we would do after the barn. we all js kinda grew out of it but it is NOT A SPORT. js bc u can ride around on stick YOU ARE NOT AN EQUESTRIAN AND NEVER WILL BE (unless u ride or actually start riding) so sick of seeing the “i fell of today” or “this horse is so strong!” like buddy…
Ok we can grow up but want to do something active instead of on our phones i am an equestrian as well and spend more time with my real horse but some ppl can't afford a real horse and wants to use hobby horses

I’m an equestrian but I can not afford a horse and I have a hobbyhorse , I like to pretend he is a real horse as I don’t ride as much as someone who has a horse and it is really rude and quite snobby for equestrians to hate on people for just having fun! Basically the difference is that a hobby horse is more realistic and there for more expensive and they are made with more high quality stuff and stick horses are like cheap un realistic stick horses technically both are different kinds of stick horses but like a stick horse is what like you would give to a toddler

Sometimes I feel like hobbyhorsing takes more skill and physical strain then actual horseback riding like I ride and also hobbyhorse in my backyard and yes I take breaks for the winter and throughout the summer when I’m away at shows or can’t but I’m like legit sore after lmao- 😂❤

No offence and this is my opion that hobbyhorsing ain’t rlly a sport but it is a hobby(it’s in the name that’s why it’s a hobby they wouldn’t call it hobbyhorsing if it weren’t a hobby) but they are definitely very expensive bc I have seen some for like over 400£ so very expensive but I do think riding like real horses in more of a sport and way more expensive!
