3:00 well done Dave for closing the gap and creating a dangerous sutuation.
Contender for cotw
Despite Dave's efforts it was still a fairly innocuous merge.
@@cafe405 right, I mean their awareness was a little lapse, but they eventually backed off, and no real problem occurred.
Being that there is far bigger idiots in this video, pretty sure COTW is a little strong
@@defiant4eva yep, definitely bigger cnuts in this compilation, but there should be a special COTW category for the Dave type: "Be a dick and send the evidence to youtube"
I know that junction it's onto the A17 at Heckington. The car merging has line of sight of about 1/2 mile so can see the traffic coming up with no problem. The driver should also realize that going from a 40mph road onto a 60 (+) at a junction with a long 'slip' road should only be done when the traffic is clear. I have used that junction for over 20 years and yes you do have to be careful and yes you do have to wait to merge.
@@glenpierce777 slip roads are the same speed as the road you are entering and yeah they are give way but it would be so much more dangerous to stop at the end and wait to merge. Guy was so eager to record it on the dash cam you can tell he was not helping the situation just compounding it could just slow down let him on.
Electronic stability control well and truly saved that Mercedes from going into a spin!
Shit tyres caused it to start with!

Stability control, traction control etc are an aid which means the driver can take credit in getting out of trouble
This is proof to all the old fuddy duddies that say cars are too computerized that they are safer than ever, and as a hardcore geek, I love them!!
Did Dave really think the Yaris driver was out of order for merging?
Looks like it.
Glad I’m not the only one that thought that….. the Yaris driver didn’t really have much of an option at that point, it was safer to
Merge than not
He did the manoeuvre perfectly given the fact he matched the speed with the traffic and managed to do it so cleanly in such a short distance but I guess Dave would stop at the end of the bloody slip road and then merged from first gear before the bumper of ongoing traffic doing 50+ miles
I thought the exact same thing. Would’ve seen the Yaris coming down the slip road and personally I think he chose to not give way. The speeding Audi driver needs locking up. He’s dangerous as fuck
That’s Dave for ya
As always a lot of these incidents could be avoided by the cam drivers slowing down and being aware of other drivers
Just thinking the same thing, half if these were cam drivers fault anyway. And the Mercedes aquaplaning, rather then slow down more, the cam driver continues at his same speed whilst hogging the middle lane.
Reaction times like a sloth in a K-hole.
Sadly a lot of drivers seem to have their foot superglued to the accelerator.
But they have a dash cam so it's all right
Way more accidents due to inattentiveness and bad driving than speed. Blaming speed is the road to de-skilling drivers. The video shows quite clearly how lacking observation and anticipation skills are.
I used to think it was cruel to wish death on people but if that Audi driver died in a crash (that only killed him) many other lives would probably be saved

The amount of people who will happily continuously sit in an HGV’s blind spot is astounding
"number of people"
Mirror over the windscreen and passenger window shows where harvey was. So it’s not a blindspot. hGV failing to check their mirrors and cut someone up and have people like yourself victim blaming is astounding.
Thousands of tonnes of people.
To be fair, that was a foreign (LHD) HGV and the cammer was along side, if not slightly ahead. I was hit on the M5 in a very similar situation just as I was going past, but the traffic ahead of me slowed down, so I didn't quite make it past, but still got turned into because 'he couldn't see me'. Unusually, the motorcyclist at 1:40 has to be a candidate for TOTW for trying to overtake on a single lane roundabout.
It's in Crawley, that's usual behaviour.
usually? Motorcyclists are the most dangerous people on the road.
That bikers reactions at 7:32 once he hit the ground were absolutely stellar, getting up and out of the carriageway like that could have easily saved his life if the traffic behind had beenpaying as much attention and following as closely as he was. Just speed up the over take and never run at similar speeds. This makes the difference between regular drivers and good ones.

There are a few clips in here that support the necessity of a Dashcam to prove absolute liability.
Quite a few that were definitely the dash cam driver's fault, I agree.
Pff, aint that the truth.
In the span of a year I've had a nutjob kick my car in passing and then start a fight when being detained. Fight was going alright, I had him, cops showed damn quick, happened to be driving up that road already, but all they see when arrivng is two men fighting. Except one says "He jumped into the road, I evaded him and honked him to warn of the danger, then he kicked my car. All of this is on dashcam, which I will show you in a minute", and five seconds later the perp is in handcuffs. That being a forest road, I probably would've gotten stiffed with having to pay for my own damages due to lack of evidence.
My father had a boomer reverse out of a parking space blindly at high speed and ram him. Empty road, no witnesses and boomer had rammed his vehicle hard enough that he was in the road next to my father's car. Boomer blamed my father, and the next day concocted some story about how he was in fact driving on the road and my father overtook and crashed into him. Boomer signed for that and refuses to sign anything else for the insurance, meaning it would likely have been 50/50 damages due to lack of evidence.
....But my father has a dashcam that recorded the whole thing, so now boomer is paying the lot and is being investigated for insurance fraud because he knowingly made a false statement in writing.
@@fredpuntdroad8701 Absolutely the reasons for Dashcam. I never drive anywhere without mine on.
I hope they are actually sent to the police and not just this channel tho lol
@@blixeclipse1532 unfortunately the police can't do much with dash cam footage alone. They can contact the named driver if the licence plate is visible and legitimate, same as with a speeding camera, but with no proof that they were behind the wheel at the time, no further action can be taken. Even if the footage clearly shows their face, they'd be unlikely to face more than a slap on the wrist and a "warning" to not do it again, which is never submitted to a criminal record. If there's no reasonable chance of prosecution, the police don't get involved. Even things like property damage and burglary rarely get a response unless there is additional physical violence that requires emergency care. Someone could be trying to break down your door and threatening to kill you whilst on the phone to the police, and they still won't come out. Their rationale is that if it was a serious threat, you'd be dead, in which case they'd see you later anyway, and if you're not dead then they wasted their time. Seriously. The police are pretty useless, even if you hand them all the evidence they could need on a silver plate. It's why the roads are so lawless these days, and why everyone should try to do everything they can to protect themselves. People will sell their own gran to get away with consequences of their own actions, but they really don't need to because the police are in no rush to actually do their jobs.

False plates according to DVLA
I always remember my driving instructors words " When approaching a roundabout, accelerate and get on there at speed, hell mend anyone who gets in your way, it will be their fault". Good times.
Yes, and I remember being told "if someone pulls out in front of you, keep at the same speed or accelerate while leaning on your horn"
Great advice. Mine always stressed the point that as long as I think I have 'right of way' I don't need to slow down for anything or anyone.
Ashley Neil pointed out some weird technicality about how you only have to give way to traffic *approaching* the roundabout from the right - and that you don't have any right of way whatsoever over any traffic already on the roundabout, nor do you have any over them. Except nobody fully understands that and just "give way to the right". If you are turning right on a roundabout and someone comes straight on and cuts you up, technically they're not at fault.
Bit hard to wrap your head around at first but that is pretty much what the Highway Code says.
@@halfbakedproductions7887 I'd be surprised if Ashley said that, but if you're going to take my sarcasm seriously then read the Highway code . Rule 185 "give priority to traffic approaching from your right, unless directed otherwise by signs, road markings or traffic lights".
So that debunks your theory I'm afraid. Approaching from your right. Not approaching the roundabout from your right.

@@gdinfinity1325 I comment on these videos usually looking for a good Britishism. The last one was I think last week where the guy tooted his horn as a guy who cut him up drove off 😂 I say if you just make a noise it's a genuine reaction to something lol

“Bloodyell!!”
Great video advertising Mercedes’ traction control!
As an American watching I’m always on the same tune of “well your on the wrong side of the roa-a wait… no never mind”
Does Harvey S at 2:25 have a thing for being an inconvenience to trucks?
Not only do you sit in the blind spot of a left hand drive HGV, once hit by it you then proceed to glide across the path of another lorry forcing it to brake.
3:01. Seems to be a perfectly good lane merge there. The DC’r can lift off the throttle and slow down slightly to let the other car on.
But this is Dashcam zone so we must all be offended and angry for letting someone out in front of us.
Yep. Pretty much. The guy came in a bit hot, but slowed down before merging. It's overall a much safer situation to slow down a bit and let him merge than to force him to slow down, maybe even to a complete stop, and then force him to merge at much lower speed. Dave was a bit of a dick in this case.
If he'd been following at a safe 2-second gap, there would have been ample room for the merge. However, at about 0.8 seconds (my estimate) and refusing to ease off, he's deliberately making the merging vehicle's life difficult.
The general standard of anticipation shown in these clips by the cammers is pretty low.
@@malthuswasright I don't think this is lack of anticipation. Quite the opposite. Dave here was perfectly aware of that car and he knew very well that it was going to merge in front of him. So either consciously or subconsciously (I'mma gonna guess it was consciously, cause otherwise why share the video) he started accelerating to close the gap. He was frustrated that someone dared to merge in front of him. He's not unaware. He's just a jerk.
@@CristiNeagu Might have been true of Dave but over the whole video the standard of anticipation was pretty poor.
That part of the North Circular at 7:37 is like a race track most of the time!
So nice to see people are still fighting to work out which side of the road to drive on,down, through, over, into 🤣
People who hang about lorries too long, be aware that the blind spot is so big at the cab that you can park 3 cars in front of them and the driver will not see any of them. Especially drivers of foreign vehicles! Be aware.. don’t leave it to chance.
Dave you definitely tried to make a mountain out of a mole hill with the guy in front merging into your lane
I just passed and I watch these to feel better about my driving.
Nice video
7:45 Katie P, and this is why it's dangerous to stop in the middle of the road to let pedestrians cross at stupid places.
It’s amazing half of these didn’t end up in an accident. I think it shows that drivers in UK are generally good and attentive. If people are ready to avoid accident even if someone else made a mistake, some day it will be paid off to them.
Yeh, compared to the videos I’ve seen of Russian drivers that seem to take crashing into each other as a sport. Admittedly, their roads are often a foot deep in snow and there are Ladas everywhere but still, there seems to be only two speeds there, warp speed and sudden stop with parts flying off.
0:49 Bridgeyate double mini roundabout in Warmley, Bristol. Very close to me on the outskirts of Bristol. The amount of people who don’t know how to use a double mini roundabout is surprising!
Just curious, but in the Harvey S clip at 2:25, is there a reason he was sat in lane 2 at 50mph, i.e. the same speed as the truck next to him in lane 1? Can’t see any cones or anything else to indicate it’s a 50 limit.
Is it also just coincidence that shortly after that is another clip of ‘Harvey S’ being in a second collision, time-stamped literally 5 hours later on the same afternoon?
3:10 Harvey does it again! Why the hell accelerate and then hard brake within 2 seconds?
110% he done that on purpose. if I was behind I would have probably hit him aswell
@Follow the howl but why is he putting his foot down as a car passes him like that? seems like he was being a knob and it backfired. But who knows?
Have you noticed it was on the exact same day as the HGV crash too? Maybe he didn't get any insurance details from the trucker so he caused someone else to rear end him to claim on their insurance from the truck's damage 😂
@@slothgoingfast Well, think if you're stuck in a line of traffic for half an hour, or an hour, and some cunt from behind starts overtaking cars to get closer to the front of the line. I can't really blame people who try to make sure they can't squeeze in. The guy who ended up hitting Harvey, also accelerated quickly to nudge up to Harvey so he's just as bad, if not worse.
@@Gr1m_laden_7 yes, looked like a classic crash4cash scam to me
5:49 kamra for trying to squeeze through to the front of the line. Just wait in line like everyone else.
It's called filtering - perfectly legal and safe IF done correctly
but perhaps better for the car to wait until the light is green before moving off - the bike stopped as it was amber and the car jumped it
@@guy.h he started right when the light changed to green. Thats fine
HARVEY S reminding us all that it's not safe in the blindspot of a HGV.
I'm still amazed people do this
You're so much more polite than in Australia or New Zealand.
2:26 Why do people like Harvey cruise at 50mph in lane 3, right in a lorry's blind spot? Why do they do that and expect a good result?
How do you know it's not a 50mph zone?
Because they are clueless about HGV blind spots - especially foreign.
That’s not a blindspot. The driver could see them if they looked out of the window. Why do they not look when changing lanes and expect a good result?
7 seconds and that's what's on camera. Do not sit in blindspots!
@@mattpyro90 It IS a 50mph zone, look at the signpost on the left
That Merc in the second clip did fucking well to keep that under control!
The car saved him, he'd have done better to let go of the wheel!
traction/stability control quietly doing its thing
Modern cars have great stability control. I got into a very mild bit of trouble in my Golf 7 and provided you don't slam on the brakes the car does all the work for you.
@@tomsixsix even if you slam on the brakes the stability control take over and stop you fucking up.
