- From 12 Piezas características, Op.92, originally for piano. Torre Bermeja translates to the "vermilion tower", and has been a classical guitar standard along with many other Albéniz transcriptions since the days of Tárrega and Llobet.
Surprisingly, the first time I heard this piece was not on a Segovia album, but on Canadian television where Norbert Kraft performed it after an interview. I feel really grateful to have worked with Norbert some decades later, and hope to work with him as much as possible before the legend retires.
This arrangement is pieced together from other versions i've played in the past (Norbert and Llobet's), and has several of my own ideas.

Thank you, Drew! You're playing is incredible. I never reached the level of playing that you have. I could barely make it thru "La Catedral" 3rd movement w/o mistakes. I took lessons from Eliot Fisk's first teacher in Philly and the guy was horrible and raised his voice at me and blew smoke in my face every lesson! He taught (tried to) me Carcassi and Sor studies and La Catedral.
My father used to practice this guitar piece when I was a child.
It reminded me of the old days.

Hey Drew, I was actually just talking to Norbert about recording gear lately and Charles M mentioned you had recorded him. I was telling Charles about my Schoeps mics I'm going to record soon and he thought you had use these types of mics to record him? It was about 4 years, which mics are you using? I have the cmc 41 set up I'm anxious to try in a church.
