Drew Henderson and Michael Kolk, guitars.
Guitars by Martin Blackwell.
Here is a great arrangement of one of Beethoven's most beloved pieces. It actually fits under the fingers very well and is a lot of fun to play.
Please help support Michael and consider purchasing this wonderful arrangement. I'll try my hand at this next month and offer a much requested piece along with the video release. Stay tuned! - Hudba
My apologies for the ad in the middle in the past, I never set it this way. I don't know why but YT changes the position of the ad sometimes out of the blue.
Yes that is so annoying and distracting isn't it Drew? I notice YT are doing this with lots of videos now :(
Yea that really messed up the best thing I've listened too how could they do that at that critical moment really hurt me thanks for fixing that
@@timothybeitler4018 youtube can be assholes at times! maybe it's done deliberately to get people to PAY for ZER0 adds at some ridiculous amount each month.
CZcams automatically added "Mid-roll ads" to every video on the platform and left it up to the creators to go back through their entire back catalogue to deactivate each one individually.
It has been a long time since the "you" in CZcams has really meant anything... It's ThemTube now.😔
Absolutely beautiful composition, I love listening to it.
🤔I must have a go at a solo guitar version.
You never need to apologize. Your talent is gift to the world you give away for free on here.
Only someone who has studied classical guitar can know the effort, dedication and sacrifice it takes to reach this level of expertise. Our society unfortunately does not recognize and reward guitarists sufficiently. I wish both of you success and happiness for the joy you have brought us.
Beethoven ' music has been a light in my whole life....
My sweet old dog, Dutch, nearly 20 years old, came out of the other room and lay next to the speaker. Thank you, Gentlemen.
How lovely; I can just see him do that. Pets have very good taste, it is true.
@@ClariceAust He used to ride in the car all the time with me and 'sing' along with the tenors when I'd play an opera. That and firetrucks...
@@hugh-johnfleming289 The animals and pets, for me, make life the more worth living; they are just so special. The bible says they are "preserved" by God and I fully expect to see them on the other side. Best wishes.
@@ClariceAust The bible also says to love your neighbor, we must not love animals more than men, we must not forget that only men are gifted with thought. The problem with people who personify their pets too much is that they become embittered with humans.
You make these assumptions, Hector, and assume the moral high ground, but perhaps you just do not possess that special feeling for animals that some of us have. We do not all have to be the same, you know.
Such precision and clarity. The power of an orchestra was captured in only two guitars. I am amazed.
You guys transcribed that exceptionally well. Making Ludwig proud
If Beethoven heard your transcription, he would have written some guitar concertos I guess. This is so incredible, thank you!
Totally agree.
Ehi, guys! Bravissimi! Chapeau, absolutely, chapeau!
L v B was close with Mauro Giuliani one of the most famous guitar maestro and wrote 2 concert for mandolin who plays (concert aren't masterpieces at my opinion...) but not write for guitar... That sad..
@@luigicorrias That is correct. Beethoven was deeply impressed with Giuliani's playing and was "impressed" with what the guitar could do. Beethoven heard this (obviously) when he could still hear. Unfortunately Beethoven had a large number of personal problems that probably kept him from "widening" his thinking. Not the least was his "argument" with his brother's wife and of course his twisted love for his nephew. These were not the most "attractive" aspects of his personality.
Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
@Justin Ford Not true exist literature for guitar viuela leute and segovia don't do only transcription but promote for the instruments new repertoire
I've listened to the orchestral version of this many times over my life and your duet truly brings out the purity and essence of what Beethoven composed. A beautiful and enlightening arrangement. A faithful and reverent performance! Thank you!
"Orchestral version", he says...
True - I should have said "original" (which is orchestral).
Bach brandenberg 5
EXACTLY this !!!
Someone is cutting onions in my bedroom. So beautiful
Classical guitar is truly a little orchestral, mostly when played by gifted and talented people like you ♥️
I'm speechless... Symphony no. 7 is my favourite among Beethoven's symphonies and the second movement is a diamond in a casket of pearls. This astonishing rendition chatched my ears, my heart and my soul completely... I didn't feel any "lack of", it's the real thing, the power and lyricism of this marvelous music is intact and I enjoyed listen to it as well as listening to a full blown orchestra. This is way, way more than a great job, really. Bravo, bravo, bravo, a thousand times bravo! Lot of thanks from the bottom of my heart❣❣❣❣❣❣
After hearing this piece I was tempted to applaud - to a video. So I send my applause with these words, my thanks and sadly just one thumb up because there is just one.
Oh - I couldn't help BUT APPLAUD!
My kid sister used to tap the like button twice to “like it twice”.
Lol
@@wyattj.sullivant3494 Three time's a charm. :)
This is how I give it more than one thumbs up. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ditto 😊
Usually such monumental pieces sound pathetically paltry on the guitar. But this arrangement is a triumph.
Say me please what is a sign (picture) on your Avatar? )
The Chi Rho is a symbol for Christ written by superimposing the two Greek letters “Chi (X)” and “Rho (P)” which are the first two letters in Greek of the name of “CHRist.” The first public use of the Chi Rho symbol was on the labarum, the shield of Constantine’s warriors in the Battle of Milvian Bridge on October 28, AD 213.
The Greek letters “Alpha” and “Omega” mean “Christ is the Alpha and Omega,” as revealed in Revelation 1:8.
And also on a piano!
This incredible creation by Beethoven has a deep spiritual meaning. By its first performance in Vienna the audience was deeply moved. The orchestra was forced to repeat this second movement immediately. Great arrangement and great performance. Beethoven is surely happy with your work. Thank you so much!
Thanks for that information - it adds to our appreciation; one would love to have been in that audience.
What a gift to us to tell that story. Wonderful. Thank you.
@@scottwallace1 the Viennese audience immediately embraced the Seventh Symphony, and considered it among their favorite orchestral works. Its huge popularity led to three performances in the ten weeks following its premiere. The second movement-Allegretto-was particularly loved, leading to outbreaks of applause before the third movement during a number of early performances. The Allegretto remained widely popular throughout the nineteenth century, and even today is often performed separately (Eastman School of Music).
There's something sacred and melancholy about it. It captivated me from the first
"deep spirtual meaning" : absolutely yes. I heard this masterpiece at the age of 13 in ZARDOZ, ending scen and my soul was at once impressed deeply. This last s up to now
I just want to say thank you. That's it. Thank you. You understand the universe behind my "thank you".
Been a fan of these guys for 16 years! Hearing them as a freshman in music school was such an inspiration!
The sound of acoustic guitar is melodic by nature. Your version brought not only a new interpretation but also a whole new feeling to this masterpiece. Bravo! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I may self-repeat. This musical text is one of the finest creations of the human mind. It reflects the beautiful sadness of our existence with superior dignity -- and a thing called "hope". I am humbled anew. To arrange this music as is done here is utter genius!
4:13 works unbelievably well on the guitar, wow!
My very favourite Beethoven Composition...And here it is done beautifully....Five Stars Guys !!
OMG, what did you do here? this was wonderful! Darkness is gone. The beauty of melancholy is still here. This is much sentimental. I love this. You two bring this piece to a new level. Thanks a lot.
This may be my favorite of ALL CZcams videos! I've watched this certainly over 100 times since you put it up. GREAT arrangement by Michael (I purchased it). The playing...I have no words to describe the beauty, the power, the delicacy. THANK YOU Michael and Drew!!!
Who needs an orchestra? Bravo!
I discovered this arrangement when I was wondering how a masterpiece like Beethoven’s 7th symphony sound on a guitar. May I say, I’m more than inpressed.
Oh! This is truly sublime. The 7th may well be my favorite of the Beethoven symphonies so I know this rather well. I usually don't particularly like arrnagements of the symphonic literature for other instruments but I love this and the musicianship of the two guitarists is stunning. (I'm a retired oboe player, by the way.) Thank you. This is definitely a keeper.
Sublime indeed! I cannot stop coming back and listening to this recording.
What a sound! How melodious is your performance! I love this piece, and you two made it divine. Thank you.
I have one word for this accomishment: "genius". That pertains as much to Beethoven as to the arrangers & performers!
Fantastic arrangement and flawless performances. Thank you for adding happiness to my day.
I did not expect to enjoy this transcription at all. But they play with so much integrity and emotion that it was compelling.
Very well said.
That was quite superlative!
How much understanding, how much intelligence, and how wonderfully thought out the arrangement ... It’s beautiful, like an okrekstra performance, but with an amazing soulful and trusting mood.
Happy birthday Beethoven (250 years)!
This is absolutely brilliant.
I can't understand to see 93 thums down. Thank you so much for this extraordinarily beautiful performance.
Diese Künstler setzen in der Beherrschung und Vortragsweise Maßstäbe! Danke für den Genuß dieser unnachahmlichen Optimierung!!
My first ever piece to enjoy. An ultimate cultivation of the motifs of war reduced to a mere pause between the salvos. A calming breeze after the last cannon tear.
Drew you are one the leading new classical players in my eye who not only takes playing seriously but finds a repertoire that connects outside of the guitar world while still taking time to play guitaristic pieces that deserve attention. Thanks for all the great art.
Musik besteht aus einer komplexen Formel aus Inspiration (Liebe), Hingabe und Disziplin. Beethovens Siebte ist in ihrem zweiten Satz ein Diamant. Als Zuhörer kann ich für diese Momente nur dankbar sein.
Whoah! Excellent arrangement and playing! I'm not always a huge fan of big orchestral arrangements for guitar, but this works so well and has a character that fits perfectly on guitar. By the way, are you guys both playing Blackwells here? They look a bit like brothers. Peace.
I call this 'Music For the End of the World'. Salute. 🙏⚡🎶🎵🎶✨⚡🙏
The man from Earth... :)
This i what i have been wanting to hear 👂🏼 so many years. The guitar is so versatile and makes a perfect combination for this piece. I image a third but my brain 🧠 would 🤯 🤩
this piece always brings tears -even on guitar, i see. immortal. noble. intimate.
absolutely wonderful. unbelievably gorgeous. orgasmic musicality in the arrangement.... ah!
Musicians of their exceptional abilities are best showcased with exceptional material!
Beautiful, can't stop listening. The 2 minute crescendo is perfectly executed!
I think you would have made Beethoven so happy and proud. You probably would have made him a fan as well.
Il n'y a pas de mots...🥰
I first heard it in the movie "Knowing". After a decade still loving it. Great rendition Mr Henderson.
This is beyond beautiful.
The staccato at 4:13 is simply awesomesauce 🤯
Bravo. I was skeptical when this popped up after listening to classical versions, but your arrangement is wonderful.
Never expected a guitar version of allegretto would be such epic !!
I want to write something really witty about how good this was, but I'm speechless. Thank you!
I have no words to describe my admiration for this GREAT music!!! GREAT job!!! We're waiting for the next!!!
😮
❤ just wonderful!
This is my favorite Classical piece of all time thanks to hearing it performed in the 1974 movie Zardoz as a kid, and your rendition here is now my absolute favorite version. Thank you both for this incredible and flawless rendition. Absolute perfection.
Wow! Thank you so much. We try our hardest to capture the mood of the original. Your comment means a lot!
Such an exciting addition to the guitar repertoire!
Não canso de ouvir essa interpretação magistral do duo. Só posso acrescentar que, até os anjos inclinam seus ouvidos, deslumbrados. Muito obirgada.
Very nice. Impecable performing. Clever transcription. Congrats
Very soft and beautifully crystal sounds.....
🕊🌸🌸🌸💞🕊
I think Beethoven would be amused but appreciative of this thoughtful interpretation of his Symphony. I have played the orchestral version (cello section) and can truthfully say this is arrangement is more satisfying musically, perhaps because of the delicacy and nuance of their performance. Mahalo guys! 🤙🤙🤙
Wow. Wonderful! Just so perfect. Never expected to hear this on 2 guitars. 👍👍👍👍
Bravo, MAESTROS!
This is one of my most favorite symphonic works.
Thanks!
👍 👍👍
if i could like this a 100 times ^ ^..... i use this to study and to harmonize my thoughts ....on repeat..
Such a simple but hypnotic tune...... if music is the food of goods, then let some spill on me please and thank you both.
Magnifique!
Молодцы! Идеально! Душа радуется!
Incredible!!! The Beethoven's music grew in tension and softness. Congratulations!
"The guitar is a miniature orchestra in itself"
L. V. Beethoven
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. Not enough Beethoven gets to be
showcased & performed on guitar like this. Many thanks.
*Bravo!!* 😊👍 👏👏👏
After Chopin, I go on listening (again) Beethoven. You're in my playlist . Cordialement de Paris-France

We don’t hear the two of you often enough!!! Your performances are So satisfying in every way!!

It's magic !!! Thank a million.

This is one of my fav songs but your version has "bowled me over" to say the least and has gone right up to the top of my list Drew and Michael. Amazing, as always not a note out of place, thank you guys.
