Let me know. Does this fly like other micros we have seen? Is it a big "toothpick"? And what is the name of the storm cloud like that. I still can't located a name :)

Do you like this quad over the Geprc Phantom or the other similar quads mentioned in the video?
@@dereko425 For me I do prefer this one, the price point and the flight characteristics are super fun.
Hello, you could maybe send me the CLI
setting from the manufacturer of this Crux 35 drone. would be very nice
@@salihimere2989 Its on the happymodel website www.happymodel.cn/index.php/2021/09/11/diff-documents-for-crux35-and-crux35-hd/
Thank you, that was helpful. Can you maybe tell me how I can connect the built-in SPI EXPRESSLRS 2.4GHz receiver to my Radiomaster tx 12 transmitter.
Your pilot skills are important for these reviews. Any quad can cruise around a backyard. The aggressive racing style flying you do so well shows us more of the performance envelope. Thanks!
I don't think people appreciate how well Nick turns both left and right - as someone who only really turns to the left well.
on an openfield train figure 8
LOL yeah true, I am right-hand turn guy myself!
Nickname Zoolander 😃😆😎👍
When I was learning to fly RC 49 years ago :o my instructor drilled into me the ability to turn both ways. I appreciate that lesson to this day.
Me too I only can turn left properly my right turns are horrible, even when I fly fixed wings.
Great review as always, Nick! This quad is very interesting as a great all-arounder. And YES YES YES video system range needs to catch up with the long range control links!
I really like this 3.5 inch. The emax 3.5 was digital only and that looked great. I have 2 happymodel quads and experience no quality issues. This is good bang for your buck $$$. Nice one Nick.
Great review, nice to see open tech making its way into the hobby
This ... This is probably the most surprising set of features... Kinda crazy, i like it
Hi Chris
@@anonymouslegion4928 Really glad you figured out the 349. Brandon's a good dude
Brilliant video man!!!! That Crux35 sure moves well!!!! Awesome flying too!
I need it lol
I've just got mine and It's awesome. Thank you for the review.
Always flying like a beast.. love the spinning 3D NB logo
Oh wow! This thing looks like a great flyer!
Just wanted say thanks again Nick for all your help getting me in the air! Stock tune flies awesome! The cost is obviously well below the competition. Some of my thoughts….I’m flying the analog version. Totally agree with another post about the FC pads! Near impossible to soldier a buzzer on the analog version. I think I have hairline crack on one of the arms where they separate near the frame. . Also the ufl on the vtx antenna does not stay on very well. I had another dipole that snapped on no problem and worked great. I really wanted to see if I could get more range with the Omni so I glued it with some E6000. Not a good solution. I had a crash recently and nearly broke the Vtx so I should have stuck with the dipole. The vtx antenna mount should have a mount that goes straight out of the back. I have a love/hate relationship with Happymodel products! Lol. I would be much happier if they would make the FC’s easier to soldier, with higher amp esc’s and little things like the antenna mount. They are a step ahead with so much innovation. I would happily pay more for a product that is more durable.
All your content is so enjoyable to watch. 😁
Nick..... I sure do enjoy you spending all my Hobby Funds. Thanks man.... great review. Keep em coming my friend.
Lol sorry kinda I guess 😊
Looks cool. rips real nice. Great review
Very nice flyer... was surprise and how fast and nimble it was in that tight space. Most of the other reviews from others on this machine were kinda strolls in the park lol. Would love to use this as a spec park racer on maybe a 3s. The arm design I believe dampen the impact and spreads the energy. Nice concept.
Like what you've done with that beautifully crafter 3D NB logo. I thought it will get lost in the blue light but it stands out noticeably. Looks really good. Good placement.
Thank you. I really like that piece as well. I Velcro it down to its shelf for safety.
i absolutely love this quad. especially with a sub $150 price tag! Wow!
Even after 2 years I still want one. I just think that Happymodel still makes great Bind-n-fly's, I have a couple of 3.5in quads and I love flying them. Thanks again for the video and information about this quad.
great scott jim!! double the power of the crux3??
thats a larger micro there nick hahaha!! serious herspewerz there!
sweet rippin as always!
It looks like it flies like a really fast nanohawk X. I liked the way the NH-X flew, very locked in.
Wow looks amazing, looks like it flies like a tp3
I have had several new drones i never thought that this drone is even better than the newones really amazing flying and conrrol and flight time 👍
You can take some 15 lb test or so, monofilament fishing line to hold up the antenna back there, just go over the top bracket like a bridge. One turn around the video antenna base. A spot of glue on both leads about 1/2 way out. I also use mono to tie down the motor leads to the arms, several turns, and other things on the quad too, like holding the receiver in place, etc.
Thanks Nick
It looks awesome Im going to pick up the analog version my self
fpv footage looks good quality man
I think the agresive flight was quite quick. It has a good tune on it out of the box. I have also a crux3 and it flys qiute well this would be a good upgrade!
P.s i like that it feels like a micro a lot but then with more power i assume.
that things moves and moves well. real nice
punchy little buddy
This reminded me of the petrel120x you flew very responsive and floaty when needed 👍
That is a good comparison. I need to fly them back to back :)
Graduated from whoops to this quad. Wow, this thing is awesome! I wish it got more attention from the internet. The HD ELRS version is great, but almost lost the quad when I went exploring at high-altitude. Very fast and agile, but small enough that flying around the backyard is totally fun and doable, though at times it feels like racing a Ferrari in a parking lot. Thing just wants to GO.
Lol pretty good description of it. Sounds like you having a good time with
I'd like to watch a review of Crux35 HD version as well as some crash challenhing with the more weight.
Hi Nick Great video and review of the Cruz35. , I have been flying micros for 5 years and I have more fun with them than my 5in quads. I really like the Cruz35.I just built a 4in and the F.C and motors are more expensive than the Cruz ? If I was to do it again I probably purchased the Cruz instead. Thanks again for the information and video.
Looks pretty agile and controllable for a 3.5, not overpowered. Thanks for the review.
uhm so I just bought off of aliexpress. it says it’s $480 for digital analog but a first time deal of 78% so i got for $130. it says “digital analog” so is it gonna be analog or digital?🤔
Surely the order details the video system which would say if it’s difit or analog. At $130 I suspect analog
@@NickBurnsFPV it said price $450 but “76% off” but i wouldn’t be mad if it’s analog cuz I don’t have any digital goggles lol
"Props in View," just can't do.

Great review as always. I have the frsky version with vista coming in the mail. Is there going to be a uart available to add a crossfire nano rx? Or am I going to be stuck with the frsky spi?
I have plug in motors on geprc skip 3"..The pins are bigger, and flat, instead of rolled, or round. I cannot find out what they are called, but they do work great. Only downside of course is they can come loose in hard crash.
Alright, you finally talked me into it. I've got an elrs module and some receivers ordered. Let's dive in.
Yes sir. Let me know how it goes.
If your going from frysky, it's a huge difference
Bro. Your going to like it.
@@thirtythreeeyes8624 Yeah, I've been using D16 xm+ or onboard D8 spi for just about everything up to this point.
Damn you were ripping with that thing.
Happymodel boards are a crapshoot but my Crux3 is extremely agile and efficient. It's so perfectly balanced.
Now this is very interesting. If the price point is good. Wonder how light of a digital quad I could build out of this? Thanks for the review Nick😀 Looks like a powerful 2.5 quad flying
i think it is a 3.5 quad😃
I use the happymodel 1404 motor on my helicopter's tail. It is 2 grams, each, lighter than the Aeolus or Flywoo 1404. The torque of all these 3 brands of 1404 is basically identically. I know it because helicopter's tail is very sensitive about the torque. The only reason of the difference of flight characteristics is the light weight.
I'm about to modify my Blade 230s to a 1404 motor on tail. The intent is to make the heli balance correctly on the main rotor. So far have only flown it on the stock tail and am extremely impressed at how well the motorized tail flies. Got the 230s because I wanted to learn more abou motorized tail so I can maybe put one in my 500-sized Roban EC 135 (fenestron tail). Looking forward to how the 230s will do with a 1404 motor on the tail.
Nice review as usual Nick! The battery strap can be cut shorter with a pair of scissors.
yes, but I can't get more of the velcro to stick after looping over the battery. I will replace it soon enough :)
Looks like elrs is doing good for happymodel products they are getting better
Can you please tell me where did you get that lead wire at 2:35 to power your mounted camera? How does it work? One side connects to the battery and the other sides connect to the FC and the mounted camera?
Hello Nick...thanks for this review, I bought a Crux35...(elrs) and a Zorro. but learning on a Tinyhawk2. been flying RC for 50 years...THIS is all new to me. I am slow learning on the Tinyhawk. Do you think i could go ahead and fly this one? or wait until I can handle the TH. I feel like the TH is just so darn sensitive. would appreciate your advise
Lawrence
Idk why but for some reason I love having props in view it’s just so cool, also does this have an angle mode or do you have to set it up in beta flight
all betaflight quads have the ability to fly in angle mode. We need to setup a switch in the range where angle mode is active.
The fact that it's very cheap and it can fly far far away like expensive DJI drones. That is very crazy very smart.
salute!
Nick, great review as always! HappyModel needs a new frame designer. The Crux3 (I have), Larva X HD and now this Crux35 have weak looking frames. I swapped out my Crux3 frame for a NewBeeDrone SavageBee frame.
I got mine, and i am very happy with it, but when i come back to this video, mine doesn't have that goos tune 😕 it has quite some prop wash in sharp turns. Not to mention your painfully good dvr. Almost like it is HD. I know you have better goggles and antennas, but that much difference 😮 But with all that said, i still love it ❤ And thank you Sir for helping me pick it 😊
There is some flight technique to minimizing prop wash. Something I likely do instinctively
Another sweet drone air2 s army out
:( your Banggood code = "This coupon can only be used in United States,Canada"
do you have a UK code
Have you seen the connectors that let you hook to the battery balance lead? That might save you some weight, be a little less bulky and still easy to switch the gopro around.
I have, I think that uses the usb to power the camera? I think it was just a simple 15min job to make my cable, and no real wait :)
@@NickBurnsFPV the one I have uses USB, but I think they also make them with the small ph connector as well.
Really liking this one. Do you think this would be a good candidate for Sharkbyte with a Zero camera? Loved the fast-flying in the backyard, for its weight it didn't float very long when you punched it which is kinda weird, would have expected more hang time LOL. Awesome review as always Nick!
More weight would give it more float time, so larger battery solves that issue. I do think we can pretty easily get SharkByte in there, we do have to use one of the nano cameras.
@@NickBurnsFPV I just got a SharkByte on sale and am interested in the Crux35. I previously owned a Crux3 (which I loved) but unfortunately crashed it in a waterfall and by the time I got around to recovering it with a fishing magnet it was too far gone. Lol HappyModel has been killing it the past few years.
Oh man water is rough on our quads for sure. 3-4 years ago I ended up in the neighbors pool. I think the quad had an issue before that happened as I was changing esc settings as the quad would oddly gain throttle suddenly through the flight after a minute or so of normal flight
@@NickBurnsFPV Weird. Yeah I always use mg chemicals conforming coating on all my electronics. I bet the quad would have been ok if I was able to fish it out the same day, but unfortunately I wasn't able to for a couple of months. :( I'm honestly surprised I was able to recover it with the magnet lol. Oh well, at least it makes for a good (although a bit expensive) story. Lol
Hello I am new to fpv drones. How come the camera of this drone is so smooth. I really like this kind of camera, good quality and no lagging. Do I need a special app to fly this drone?
I only had drones from Amazon where I had to download an app and control it from there. How does this drone work?
Great! Ordered mine few days ago and I can't wait to try it! I'm very new to the fpv world...so I have one (tbh I have much more..) question...when I eventually get it...should I update the firmware of the FC board via betaflight or is this something I shouldn't do? Many thanks in advance if you will take the time to answer. Keep up the good work sir! Much appreciated!
No! Do not update. The is the first mistake often made with bnf quads. They come with a custom tune, if you update betaflight you lose the pid tune and the quad won't fly well. then you have to learn to tune the quad. Bind, set the osd how it looks good to you and set the arm and other switches for the functions you want to use. Angle mode, air mode, etc.
@@NickBurnsFPV Nice thanks for the great advice! There are so much things I still have to learn! So many questions...I will learn one LiPo at a time I guess..And again thanks for all you do for this hobby!
I want to install or soldering runcam thumb v2 cable to crx35, but im confuse. where i should solder this cable?
hello, if i don't have express elrs module can i add my receiver to spi ? X4R for example
Have you had the chance to try the TBS Fusion module on the Orqa goggle? I am trying to put together a ELRS setup.
Not yet. The module arrived today but I am not at home 🥲
I started setting up ELRS 915 up awhile ago. Then 2.4 came out. Now everything is 2.4
I am not sure why the 915 was first to market. I think 2.4 is more popular
Hmm, good stuff, does it still feel like a micro when doing exploratory flights?
That is a good point. It does feel light in wind with this one. But otherwise it has the stability we expect from this 3.5inch propped quad.
Looks like another ripper from happymodle. I got my ELRS module on order and a happymodle ELRS 5amp AIO 1S for a little 80mm build. I really like that happymodle is putting ELRS on all their new quads. I'm ready to be done with spi receivers and I have only been flying about a 8 weeks 😂😂. Almost lost my quad when it failsafed mid power loop😱 I got lucky 😅 with a minor crack in the frame.
Oh man, ferry’s bad time for a fail safe
@@NickBurnsFPV yeah it was it was a big full send powerloop. I lost rssi at the apex and the ne free fall from about 200 ft. I must say I'm impressed with the larva x durability only a minor crack on 1 brace I thought for sure there was going to be some sadness as you say 😂 but to my suprize there was only 2 slightly bent props and I was able to finished the pack 🤯🥳. Then I noticed the spi antenna got ripped off the board mistery solved and a easy fix.
Love the outtake, wanted to guy this with your code but it’s limited to USA only, any chance you can get them to change that to include the UK?
I have asked them to adjust the code use
I also favor ExpressLRS. Amazing how in just a few months they have made the established players in the fpv world look outdated and primitive. Especially FrSky. I'm in the process of moving my whole fleet to ELRS from crsf.
Yep it really is a game changer. It makes sense open source has always been what pushes our hobby.
Now we just need a decent quality radio to be made that has ELRS built in. Maybe 2.4 internal with support for decently high wattage and external module for when you want multi-protocol/915Mhz ELRS. With good ergos for pinchers and usb charging!
@@sandnessmj I want a 5 in module with elrs built in, since it's 2.4 they could use an RF switch and have it on the same antenna as the multi module.
Looks like another cool option. I see they make those 1404 motors in 4800 kv as well. Personally I'd probably prefer that kv on 3s over 3500 kv on 4s.
How so?
@@ChrisParayno 4800 kv on 3s would be slightly higher possible top end speed vs 3500 kv on 4s. Going down to 3 cells would allow you to have each individual cell be higher capacity for the same relative weight which gives the potential for higher amp output capacity without battery sag. You may not need it for something this light, but you'd likely notice higher performance near the end of the flights even if you're not pushing the battery to it's limits. On 3s you could go up to an 850 mah and still shave off a bit off weight. You could also go up to 1000-1100 mah 3s packs only adding 20-30 grams, but getting much longer flight time.
@@sixtofive 3s will be pulling more amps to achieve the same thrust though and you're going to be more likely to fry your ESC.
@@colinmetzger6755 That's worth considering, as the version he tested only had 12 amp esc. The difference in amp draw between 3-4s isn't nearly as noticeable as it is between 4-6s. Still, I would rather both versions came with the 20 amp esc on the board.
Yes the ELRS board is 12amp, the frsky spi is 20amp. Its odd there is a difference, and I have no idea why that is :)
Looking for it as an alternative for my 3s 3inch toothpick to carry insta go2, beacuse on toothpick canopy the weight destribution going weird with insta on top :)
Top mount with top plate does make for better flight and handling with an added he camera
Great video ..
Sorry I don't. Maybe there is something for it on printables.com or thingiverse.com
I rewatched and saw the explanation. Sorry about that!
I would have loved to see, especially on the analogue version, shorter cam plates and standoffs so we can run top mounted batteries. That was one of the reasons I did a custom 2.5" build using the Banggood Yelo 125mm frame. Top mount for freestyle, bottom mount for racing. Hopefully iFlight got us covered with that 2.5" frame they are sending you, looking much forward to that review :)
If we remove the top HD camera mount I do think we could run the battery on top, it will limit the size and placement due to the rear antenna mount. We could also mount the antenna to the lower plate. Likely best to redesign though because the stock antenna mount flipped could bring the vtx antenna into the prop line.
Openvtx and elrs can also work together and have your radio set channel and power as soon as you plug in the quad, like TBS does
What do we have to do to set that up?
@@NickBurnsFPV I'm not sure I haven't messed with openvtx yet. I saw it on the discord so hopefully it will be official soon right now I believe it requires custom builds.
@@NickBurnsFPV I tried to find it and can't find any info maybe I misread something on the discord

Hey nick! I'm just wondering if this is a good beginner quad? Im been flying moblite7 for months now but I want to move up to a bigger quad, somewhat a 2.5 - 3.5 inch quad.
Are you flying the moblite7 in acro mode? If so and your pretty comfortable you can likely move up to this or something like it. I would start in a bigger space than my backyard for at least the first several flights to get a feel for it.
Sorry for noob questions but Why are u so excited about ELRS? I get that it's got longer range but the VTX gives out way before you lose ELRS connection. So what's the point of having that range when you can't even see where you are going because the vtx gives out?
This quad looks like it flies light, like a toothpick... pretty good. This is in my preferred flying style and my current favorite is a 1s babytooth. 3.5" may be a sweet spot for this type of flying, but the weight .is. starting to build and it is noisier than I would prefer (I like quiet, almost stealth). Tempting... tempting. :D
Oh... and I love the outtake at the end. ROFL
lol. I think your first to see, or at least comment on the outtake. I love that stuff too
Certainly not a stealthy one, but also not a loud as the others in the 3.5inch category.
quick comment about the triangles not connecting, wondering if that for Vibration mitigation.
you still get the strength by dispersing load over more carbon but doesn't connect to FC area... ???
if it connected right under the FC might bring in the bad vibes...
being a Uniplate might need creative solutions.
That certainly is possible. I don't know if in practice it works that way or not.
hi Nick. i'm wondering about 20a board with built-in Frsky. is it the same as Eachine 20a AIO board that came out a year ago ? or is it a new board ?
In this quad? Was the old eachine 20am the same shape. Sorry I don't recall that board.
Looks like it flys with more mass (relative to lighter toothpicks) to me. But it's hard to tell without being on the sticks.
yea, stick feel we can't get via video.
Question the vtx says it's 25/100/300mw but you have it on 400 and so do I
Does it just output the power to 300 when on 400
I believe so as the max output is 300mw as you have noted.
6 mins and 13 seconds in. I gotta have one. I gotta get batteries. I think this is sick. Wow
Would this be the first 3.5incher in your fleet?
@@NickBurnsFPV yes! This one. I really like. My battery game is lagging at the moment. This little bugger, is like right up my alley. Great video man.
Thank you. I suspect if you have something in the 550mah 4s that will still get us some solid flight time and punches
can you share the pid tune ? because i saw many videos with jello and vibrations on this quad
pid tune is the default posted on the happymodel.cn website.
Upon a re-watch I'm surprised the frsky version comes with 20a vs 12 on the eLRS version. Very odd choice to have different ESCs. Currently deciding between the HD version of the crux35 and the babyhawk ii hd. Tough decision, between durability and smooth vs speed and lightness...ugh. maybe I just need both.
It does seem curious. I wonder if it has to do with the size of the elrs component and the size of esc component per amp.
Hi Nick, love your reviews. ? Questions on the last two reviews you have mentioned Express LRS many times. Newer to FPV (just hitting two summers) I've just gotten into crossfire. Should I run and change everything here going into fall/winter or what evers trending? Help Me...Ps throw a Vifly strobe-light on a micro supa mean in evenings.
I wouldn't say you need to change over to elrs, But if you plan to fly a micro in the near future it might be a good idea to get a elrs module that will work with your radio. I suspect over the winter the new whoops are going to have elrs built in, but that doesn't mean we have to change but we will likely either need to select the crossfire option or plan to add a receiver if we don't have the elrs module. If we have to add a receiver we will have that additional weight, which can be a deal breaker for some. That is a choice we have to make.
@@NickBurnsFPV Shoutout thanks for responding it feels good. I will stay tune for more of your reviews. Yes, I am the one listening taking notes so... keep it chatty.
Hello. What proppelers do you reccomend? 40/60 cine - acro. Analog with 750mah
I have always stuck with the stick props. If props are changed the pid tune will likely need changed as well
Never seen 1404 with a plug. really like that happymodel started using ELRS and now open vtx seems to push other companies to follow. Maybe we will end up with an open vtx elrs combo.
That would be an interesting combo vtx rx. Seems the size could be small as well.
Hi Nick, can you demonstrate what it's like to fly on a 3S 500mah pack. I have lots of spare 3s battery.
Hmmm, that's a great idea!
Hey nick. Just got my analog crux35 in and I have a question.
The video transmission isn't great. I checked the ufl connection. It's secured. Both my antennas are 5.8 rhcp on goggles. And my video is super static. When I cover up the antenna on the quad video is gone. In betaflight power is at 400. But in osd it shows 0? I don't have my radio yet. Waiting on that and the 2.4 elrs module to come in. Do you think that's the issue? I didn't think the control link would effect the video reception. Wanted to get this fixed before I got my radio so I could fly asap 🙂👍
No. Rx should impact video reception. Well in some cases it can if both antenna are extremely close together, but not nearly as much as you describe. I think we need to be sure the goggles are on precisely the same frequency as the video transmitter is. Also make sure its not in pit mode. If I recall correctly the quad is at 25mw until the quad is armed then it should go to the set power level. This is controlled by a setting in betaflight, I believe its on the the video transmitter page, but the name is escaping me in the moment.
@@NickBurnsFPV thank you very much for your help. I actually got the signal to work pretty well. Don't know exactly how. But I know in my goggles when it was acting funny my osd read on the vtx R:8:0. I had my goggles on race and 8. And in betaflight it said 400.
Well. What I didn't say was I decided to flash this fc with betaflight 4.3 so I can get a jump start before my radio came in the mail. I think something was corrupted in the cli dump cause after flash I pasted the dump into the cli.
Well. Reflashed. Pasted cli diff all. Then went onto happymodel website and got a cli dump of the 4.3 update. Went and pasted it into the cli. Plugged the battery in. R:8:400 IN OSD! Left my quad ilon my bench and went to the other side of my house... golden. Great picture 🙂🙄👍
@@BROK3N1MAGE Ah yes, that makes sense. The vtx tables were missing after the flashing of the firmware and the happymodel cli dump restored the vtx tables.
Do you think the Frsky version with an added ELRS receiver would perform the same or better or worse than the ELRS version?
It would be the same. Or so close we can’t tell.
Pretty fantastic flying and review, Nick!!! 😃
Let me ask 2 things... All the quads you showed there, with 3.5" props, uses 1404 motors? And you didn't review the 3.5" quad from Diatone yet?
Because the Diatone quad has 2203 motors. 😬
I personally think it's too much. But maybe a model with 1505 motors could be interesting... What do you think?
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The 1404 struck me too. I use 1404s on 3 inch and it makes me wonder if they won't lack response on a bigger prop. (flying dji or I might have gone down a size with less weight)
@@junglistfpv8553 Well... The 4" long range quads also use 1404 motors... But with biblades, not triblades.
I did review the 3.5inch from diatone, broke an arm on that one. I don't think that size motor belongs on a 3.5inch prop. It put the weight up high without enough performance gain. The others in the category are much more well balanced, that huge motor gives us all sort of low throttle response, but not much on the upper end.
@@NickBurnsFPV Oh... That's true! Now I remembered the video!
But yeah, it ends up being too much weight for nothing, really.
2203 is wayyy to big! The 1404s are on my iflight Chimera 4DC and my HGLRC sector25 and they great for my needs! But the HGLRC 4inch freestyle that DaveC designed run 1806 I think 🤔 can't remember the KV on those but I'm interested in throwing those on a build here in the future, seem like a great middle area between the 1404 and the 2004s. I have the iflight 2005 2550kv 4s motors on my custom Rekon5 but they'd be to big for anything under 4 inch. So ya does anyone have experience with the HGLRC 1806s??
Any ways to record hd footage ? Or can o use my go pro hero 7 silver
I believe it comes with a insta 360 go mount. there might be a gp7 print for the mount on the print file websites.
Hi Nick. Thx for another great review! I'm a micro guy as well so find your vids really useful. I have some random questions for ya. Does this AIO have chip for BB? Why u use the T-Lite over the T2? Does the new HM 2.4g 1W elrs tx need external power supply for T2 regardless of output setting?
Do you mean the bb chip for the esc? I use the tlite as it fits my hands and fingers well, also nice gimbals. I don’t understand the last question
@@NickBurnsFPV heheh let me rephrase the questions. Does the Crux35 have onboard blackbox? Does the new ExpressLRS Tx slim pro 1000mW module for T-Lite/Tango2 etc need extra power source, or is power from the radio sufficient?
Product description: "Supports up to 1000mw RF power (T-lite radio and Tango2 radio need external power supply)"
@@catoen87 The crux35 does not have blackbox. I don't have an rf meter to test if the output is actually 1000mw without external power.
How are these Happymodel 1404 motors compared to other manufacturers? On the data sheet they have less thrust. Like 340g pull vs over 400g pull on GF 4024. Although I must say most 1404 motors I have compared to are 3600~3800kv. HM chose 3500kv which are pretty low.
Also the motors are pluged and not soldered. I would guess 10A current draw are pretty much the maximum you can plug on the PH1.25mm connector before having the same issues like the ph2.0 Battery connector.
Its hard to compare just the motors as I have only flown them on the crux35 and the others are all on higher weight quads.
Nick, your lovely videos accompany me doing the dishes every night, thanks a lot for that! Just one thing - why don’t you just add the battery voltage to the after-flight screen and save yourself from having to jump back to see if the voltage recovers?
likely habit. Been setting things up and doing flights with the same info for so long.
I think I'd fly it with a 450mah 4s to keep it ultra light! Because, after you've been in this hobby a while, you'll realize flight time makes no difference when you are Rippin', but the weight sure does! 😎🤘I have several batteries, and changing to a new one takes less than one minute. But, you can't get rid of that extra battery weight unless you use a smaller battery and change it more often. But, like Nick had said, when you're Rippin' it up, 3 - 4 minutes flight times, of going as fast as you can, is about as long as we can concentrate intensely. Long range is not our thing. Performance is! 😆
I like everything about this quad, except for that the digital version uses the Nebula Nano camera... Which is terrible!
My biggest concern is always the same with Happymodel: Will it hold up, not break, components not fail, burn out, etc. In my book, Happymodel is one step up the ladder 🪜 from Eachine. And I know I will never buy Eachine again because things do break and burn out often making an Eachine quad cost you double to triple the initial price, after 1 or 2 years of constantly repairing it. I know, I've had to do it before to keep it in the air... But never again. You can buy a much nicer name brand quad and it will cost you way, Way less over that 1 to 2 year period.
So, will it hold up, I guess we'll wait and see. Me, I bought great quality in the Emax Babyhawk 2 HD, so I'll pass on this one. 😎🤘
Where do you rank Betafpv in that mix? The more squad 550mah 4s battery is likely what I would typically fly it on. I still get more flight time than I need, and it still has enough weight to give me that zero gravity feel on the punches.
@@NickBurnsFPV have you found the Pulse 450mah 4s @ Helidirect? They start out @ $4.99 each... Which is a great deal for any 4s, right?! 👍 But, look for the button to buy 5... Now they're $3.99... But wait, there's more! Lol below that is a button to buy 10, and they become $2.99 each! 😳😎 that's Half the price of many 1s whoop batteries! Great batteries too! Unbelievable deal!!! Where else can you buy an lipo for $2.99 each, let alone a 4s?
Helidirect is great too!
@@NickBurnsFPV I've only bought one BetaFPV quad. The Shutterbug 85... Or, as they call it, the 85 Pro 2. It's awesome. So, I have a great opinion of the one quad I've got from them.
I got it on Black Friday. You can't believe the deals they had! I got it, with a Crossfire receiver pre-soldered in, for under $70 shipped! Lol 😆 Yeah, crazy huh?! 😎🤘
@@KOrnhOliO1 I'm checking that out
Sheesh nearly gave that away
Hey Nick, can we have a link to that naked GoPro mount you use for crux35? Thanks, great video as usual :) Also i had a desync/deathroll on 1st flight with rates under 600 on slowish roll. What can i do to prevent that, im a fraid to fly it anymore. BTW, it took a fall from 15m to a concrete like a champ, just some chiped end of arm, flew it back to me :)
I will have to get the link at another time. On the road atm. For the death roll I would check to ensure props are on good and tight. Then start to tinker with blheli startup power. I suggest changing it up slightly then test. If no change move startup power up more and retest. I don’t suggest going to high maybe 3-4 changes up. It’s rare but sometimes decreasing startup power can also help. Note the original value. . If it continues through the esc changes I would increase the idle speed.
@@NickBurnsFPV thanks, i decreased it to 0.063 and i still got deathrolls, then i uped the motor timing 1 step and now it seems fine on 0.063. Are you sure i should have turned startup power up, and not down? I saw your desync video and you turned that startup power waaaay down on that micro. :)
@@zenflight2450 I can't be 100% certain, I have seen it both ways. Motor timing can play a role, its fairly rare that today's manufacturers don't set the motor timing appropriately. But if its a build we may need to make that change ourselves.
Nick, the Darwin 129 7” comes without a receiver, can I get a ELRS 2.4 ghz plug in type receiver that will work with this drone so I don’t need to solder to the board? An if so what one would you get that would work?
I am not sure. I think we have to solder as the aio doesn't have a connector for the rx.
Hi Nick! So you’d still prefer the 12a ELRS over a 20a (frsky)? The 20 must be way faster and more impressive (besides range), wouldn’t you say? :)
esc amp rating doesn't play a role in performance. Elrs does make a difference in stick feel when running a higher elrs packet rate.
