In this video I will be going over the happymodel crux35, unboxing, set-up instructions with betaflight and first flights with my final thoughts on this cheap fpv drone from happymodel fpv, I think this is a great cheap fpv drone.
The Crux35 is a great flying and affordable long range ultralight quadcopter. It includes the latest OVX303 5.8G analog VTX (from ELRS team) along with an SPI ELRS 2.4Ghz receiver. It uses 3.5″ props to give you great performance while also having decent flight times per battery. This version includes the Caddx Ant FPV camera.
CRUX35 is an ultra-lightweight 3.5Inch FPV Freestyle Drone, the weight of the whole drone is only 87g for the analog version and 108g for the digital HD version. The Crux35 series drone uses Happymodel EX1404 high-efficiency motors and HQPROP 3.5-inch three-blade propeller to ensure the largest thrust-to-weight ratio under the most efficient premise, which can bring you a smooth Freestyle flying experience.
TBS Tango 2
Team BlackSheep has redefined the portable remote control with the TBS Tango 2. Now we're back with one of the most popular requests: a compact full-size remote! The TBS Mambo follows in the footsteps, but focuses on all of the things the Tango 2 tries not to have: a larger screen, traditional form factor with switches and potentiometers, JR module bay, replaceable batteries and trim buttons!
FPV
FPV, has revolutionized the radio control hobby. By definition, it is a method used to control an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or radio-controlled vehicle from the driver or pilot's perspective. ... A live FPV system makes precise aerial photography and videography possible.
Flight Controller (FC)
A flight controller (FC) is a small circuit board of varying complexity. Its function is to direct the RPM of each motor in response to input. A command from the pilot for the multi-rotor to move forward is fed into the flight controller, which determines how to manipulate the motors accordingly.
Radio Transmitter
The common frequencies used in FPV drones are 2.4GHz and 900Mhz. 2.4GHz is the standard nowadays for radio control thanks to its frequency hopping technology, which manages channel automatically to avoid interference between pilots. 900MHz is another popular frequency mostly used in long range flying.
FPV Analog Goggles
The term analog FPV refers to Analog video transmission technology and systems. ... The FPV camera signal is passed through to the VTx. The VTx have a carrier frequency (carrier frequency are frequencies that help the weak FPV camera signal to travel over long distances), the most commonly used carrier frequency is 5.8GHz.
ImpulseRC Apex 5″ Quadcopter Frame
Through a process of continous refinement and always striving to improve we have created a new breed of freestyle frame. The Apex does not compromise in stiffness or durability, so you never have to choose between confidence and performance. Unique design elements new to the FPV world make your build and maintenance more simple than ever before. Toughness of the frame itself is increased while also offering much better protection for your investment in flight electronics.
ImpulseRC Micro Apex
The Micro Apex incorporates all of the unique innovations pioneered by ImpulseRC and now widely imitated. From the compressed-X arm geometry, integrated camera tilt, front box-section and split main plate design, to our custom shoulder bolts and arm locking key. At the centre of mass where the arms meet there is a massive 8mm of carbon fibre, taking the stiffness of a micro frame to a new dimension so you can enjoy unsurpassed flight characteristics at this prop size.
You're 100% correct on those battery leads needing to be tied/taped to an arm
Hey Dazz, It's good seeing another review and longer video from you. I miss seeing more videos like this from you, I do watch the shorts too. This frame reminds me a little bit of the BetaFPV HX115 LR toothpick frame. BTW, You look so much different without your glasses on, if I passed you on the street without your glasses; I probably wouldn't recognize you. Thanks for another great video, see you in the next one.
hey man, I'm going to try and do loads more again, its hard finding the time and resources at the moment to do builds and reviews, the flight short videos are the thing thats quite easy for me to do in between stuff... see you in the next one! thanks
@@Datfpv I definitely understand the time and resource situation. I usually find the time and plan something, then something else comes up to take that time away, or when I have the time, I'm too tired or unmotivated. With the resources, either what I want is out of stock or the price is just more than I'm willing to pay or can afford right now. Glad that you're starting to feel better and hope that your throat feels better soon. see ya in the next one.
Exactly! If it's in the air it's already a good old time :) Great review! I'm gonna pick one up for myself
Looks like a great little drone to have 🤙🏼
This is the best video ever 👏👏. I'm a noob, I bought a Darwin129 elrs and received it 2 weeks ago. I still can't get the thing going. I ended up buying one of these crus35 today and I can't wait to get it . Thank you again for the video because there's nothing like this for the Darwin129.
They went through all the trouble to include a case and made it to small for the quad to fit with the props on!
Man you look 👀 like Robert Dinerio , lol 😂, I know I’m not the first to tell you that, good review, i like how agile the quad is , analog will never play out !!!
I think you are the first lol - thanks!
Did you put the two molding dots at the top of the prop as theres no writing?
I'm confused..the bind button is underneath the board towards the camera..🤔
When I first bought mine it was the DJI version and frsky it sucked .Then I put crossfire in it and oh boy let me tell you haha.best drone ever my daily driver now drone rocks
How fast do they typically run?
I purchased the version sold by HDZero and there was no documentation included period! Mine came messed up and I hade to reflash the Betaflight and it took me three days to figure out the configuration settings due to the fact that HDZero had no documentation.
Is it possible to adjust the camera in osd ?
Hi. Crux 35 analog elrs can fly with inav? Ty
I'm using the frame to do a custom build
i cant bind mine to a betafpv lite radio 3, any help?
Wow 9 minutes! 850 Mah 4s lipo?
Do you think the Frsky version with an added ELRS receiver would perform the same or better or worse than the ELRS version?
you should just be able to replace the receiver, and it will be the same as far as I know, just double check the specs are the same and good to go
done 3 of these through frustration. Elrs is just a Fooking ball ache. Glad im still Crossfire!
Maybe at first to a noob. I got my bind phrase locked in connecting to the module over WiFi and worked straight away - easy.
The Darwin 129 7” comes without a receiver, can I get a ELRS 2.4 ghz that has a plug on it instead of the soldering type that is commonly used? If so what one would you recommend I get? Thanks!
you really wanna solder it bro if that comes loose in flight or under crash you're losing the whole drone
We’ll I set my ELRS up so I have the TX / RX Direct soldered and The 5V /G on a Plug to the FC. Because the Darwin 129 FC already comes with a 3 Pin Receiver Plug, And it workout pretty good for me!
Mines on it's way, with my new radio master tx16s mkII. Will this simply bind to the radio master or will there be flashing it firmware updating? I got the frysky version for now while waiting on my express elrs module
I'm in the same place as you right now, same gear coming and have you found the answer yet because I'm new too 😂
you'll more than likely have to update bits and bind to the receiver etc etc..
@@beatzbros8548 Good news, bind was easy. Set up the radio first, Frysky D8 . Go into CLI and type in Bind_rx put your radio int bind mode hit the button and done! I'm stuck in beta flight because I set my mode switches to the far right SD switch and in beta is set to SB... So trying to figure out how to change that now.... Lol
@@vizzieizzy Haha, thanks for the reply man, mines coming in a few days so I hope it will be that easy 😎
Just wondering if thw fpv goggles come with it and a transmitter ?
no mate, its just the quad, you also need to by batteries and a charger as well.. as goggles, transmitter etc!
@@Datfpv cheers mate is it certain goggles that ypu need or are any compatible with it
Do you think you will do a video about how to put expresslrs reciever on this drone
it comes with it installed
@@ciarancalder644 I have frsky version
@@SAM-zl1hh it's like any quad. GND - GND, 5v power to 5v power and then TX to RX and RX to TX. Then make sure the betaflight settings for your UART are correct.
Ola.
Qual bateria usou nele ?
hi - 850, 4s
Please tell me what connector is used on the drone. xt30?
yes xt30
@@Datfpv thanks
Shhh don't tell people about the crux35 and that it rips like a five inch and can carry a full sized GoPro 🤫 all jokes aside it's always sold out
Sold out? The black market fpv always has it...or maybe you're not in the US. It doesn't seem very popular here. I'm going to order and try out 👍
It’s in stock right now 😏 my time is now to get it 💸 thx for telling that fly like 5” quad
Hi, you may have said it, but what 4s MAH lipos did you use please?
I used 850 in mine, they say 750 or 850.
@@Datfpv cheers pal
@@DatfpvHallo. Can you recommend this crux35 for beginners in the FPV world? Is it possible to fly it with 18650 battery? Greatings from Germoney...
@@dortmunder27xxx No, the frame is too fragile. I've learned it the hard way 😉 But it's an excellent drone. If you have a go, then command some extra base plates. They are about 16€. I would advise you the DarwinFPV BabyApe Pro for about 80/90€. Flies excellent and is very cheap to repair
