I started out inn 1966 with the M-14. On deployment, we got M-16s & 1911A1s. Eventually I went to another unit and had a XM177E2. Loved it and got my hands on a M-79. Had a great time. Became an instructor on the M-60 much later in my career. Enjoyed having my uncle pay for my ammo. After I retired, I spent 30+ more years as a cop. Take care guys love your shows.

This is definitely one of the most interesting gun channels on you tube. It’s not easy to come up with original content, with new and entertaining ways to present information yet the guys at T/H manage to do it time after time. The depth of practical knowledge is amazing without being too overt. Brilliant.

As for people sleeping through war, I grew up 50 yds away from a major rail line, two clock away from where it met an intersection. In other words, every train, multiple times a day traveling at high speeds, with 200+ cars vibrating every wall in my house blaring the horn for 1 minute straight. When we moved to that place, I feel like I didn’t sleep for 1 month. After that, slept like a baby for the following 5 years. Never noticed them. Been 20 years since I lived there and for some reason, to do this day, I hear a train horn and i get mad.

Gentlemen, thank you for making this video. I was on active duty with the Army from 75 to 96, but I never heard a shot fired in anger, and then in civil service with the Army from 97 to 2019. I learned a lot from this video that I did not know. Your conversation about the different types of bullets and twist rates in the older guns was extremely informative. I have a little research project going and your information just gave me a completely new area that I will need to checkout. Again, thank you I sincerely appreciate the information.

Fun video boys. I enlisted in the Army as an 11B in 1997. M16A2 during basic, AIT and then when with 2nd ID in Korea. Only Squad and Team leaders had the M4A1. Team leader and up got PVS7-D Nods as well. Our company still had the M60 when i got there, but got the M250B before I left. I was also a SAW gunner and then grenadier (M16A2 with M203) before I PCSed. Then I went to Bragg and was amazed that everyone got a flat top M4, PVS14 nods as well as PEQ2. Never had to carry an M9 as that was only the M60 / M240B gunner. I did get stuck carrying a dragon while with 2nd ID.

I joined in '93. We had FN M16A2s in OSUT at Benning in 1994, already beat to hell.
My first unit had M16A1s with A2 furniture. M249E2s, M60s, and we had M14s for ceremonies (TOG).
I did a year in the line then went to Recon Platoon, where we had M16A1s, M21s, and M24s, as well as a bunch of various AKs from different nations. We did OPFOR Augmentee to JRTC multiple times per year. Right before I left, we turned in our beloved M16A1s and got brand new M16A2s.
Went to 2nd ID, 1-506th in Korea in Feb 1996.
In Korea, we had National Match M14s in Recon, M24s for Sniper Squad, M16A2s, and M16A2/M203s in the Recon Teams.
In the line, there were PAQ-4Cs with brackets for the FSB on M16A2s, and PVS-7s for key leaders, gunners, and AGs.
Went to Corps LRS at Ft. Lewis after that, M16A2s, got deactivated, went to 25th ID 1st Bde, and drew out brand new M4s in fall of 1997.
We went to Panama with 2/75 Nov '97, and they all had M4A1s with KAC RIS, Para SAWs with little rail sections mounted to the standard handguards, ACOGs on M240s, Aimpoint Comp Ms on SAWs, Aimpoints on M4A1s, and PAQ-4Cs.
They had London Bridges assault packs and LC-2 LCE. Grenadiers had TLBVs with 40mm pouches.
I went to SFAS after that in March '98, then got attached to 1st SFG awaiting Q.
In 1st Group, I had an M4A1 with KAC QD Suppressor. SOPMOD was trickling into SF at the time, so some ODAs still had M4 dual shield HGs, while others installed their RISs and all the accessories, including that POS Reflex sight.

You guys are to funny. Luv'd hearing the evolution of your eras. During Nam if you weren't team guys we saw some A1s but otherwise M14 or shotguns. Side arms were 1911 unless you had your own revolver. Saw some CAR16s with SF guys. River Boats had 60s and some 30 cals and some M16 if I remember correctly, but since I was a diver assigned to an MSO I only saw M14 , shotgun, and 45. The ship had a 50mm on the bow lol. A shotgun would do wonders to a sanpan hull. Man did things change listening to you guys😎

I am curious to if it was only back then that Coch could buy an m1a and use it overseas for work. Don't they prohibit deploying with personally owned guns now? If so, when did they start prohibiting it, how did ya'll get to bring them and use them back then, and was it solely just a Navy SOF thing?

Tankers shoot bigger loads. I was a tanker in Germany in the 90's on the M1A1. Personal weapon was a M9 with the shoulder holster. 120mm main gun, M2 .50 BMG for the TC, M240 for the Loader, and M240 Coaxial machine gun. There was a M16A2 in the loaders station used for security LP/OP. The Army was a professional force in the early 90's. Interesting topic. Tell us more about MP5's used in deployment, especially those dope MP5SD.

I was shocked to hear that SEALS don't have a ballistics training course or something.
I'm glad the AR ban had a sunset. Over the last 20 odd years I have tested and researched so much so I knew exactly what to use for various senarios.

Great video makes me think of some of the legends surrounding the Afghanistan and Iraq wars like the Museum of Baghdad and the giant of Kandahar.

Hey, for all you army guys, and especially Unit guys, support Larry Vickers who just got convicted of a felony by the ATF and is facing 25 years in a federal prison (meaning no parole or early release) because his SOT expired while he was getting treatment for cancer in the hospital, and raided his house the very next day and confiscated all of his guns. He served 5 years in SF and 15 years in Delta Force and was one of the two designers of the HK416 (which is Delta’s and Devgru’s main carbine). There’s a video about it on guns & gadgets channel.

There's a bit more to it than that, and he wasn't convicted, he pled guilty.

Yeah it’s WAY more complicated than an “expired” SOT, it was clear and blatant abuse of his SOT🤷🏻‍♂️

@@studentofthe556 all he had to do was provide proof of demo to Leo’s and all of that could have been avoided. I feel kind of sorry for him, but he could have been smarter.
