    Just watched this. Thanks this is exactly my issue with my Big block camaro. Same problem with mine. 4 core but poorly built low capacity radiator, cold case is now my next mod.

    I ordered one of these for my 3rd gen, it was a nice piece but due to covid delays it was a 3 month lead time, ended up with the champion and for my small block crate motor it does great it was a lot less expensive too!

    That aftermarket top panel should be marketed as a tool tray!

    Great video, and installation!! Thanks for posting...imho, for the price CC charges for their radiators they should come with the protective cardboard in the box...

    I run that Champion radiator in my 67 c10 LT1 with dual Spal fans. It runs 210 whether on the highway or idling extensively in the Texas heat during the Hot Rod Tour of Texas.

      Doesn’t work worth a darn on a big block I can tell you that much.

    Glad to see your video. You did great comparing Cold Case vs Champion radiators and sharing your experience. I have a '93 F150 that is begging for a radiator upgrade. Thanks

      Either rad with a nice set of puller electric fans will be an amazing upgrade.

    I use a electric fan with a manual switch. Around town I just leave it on, it uses less current than when it goes off and on. On the highway leave it off.

    I also have 4 corner cooling from the intake, a big help on a big block.

    My chevelle had a three row with electric fans when I purchased it..always ran hot and ignition misfired sometimes.pulled the fans put in a shroud and a flexfan 180 thermostat..never gets over 195 and runs like a rocket..the fans were robbing ignition voltage ..you'd be amazed how many amos two fans and your air condition blower motor draw when all running at the same time

    • @VicBeatz
      @VicBeatz Před rokem

      How many amps did the electric fans draw? I'm currently looking at a cold case 2 row radiator with 2 electric fans for a 79 Camaro. Sales rep told me the fans draw 5.7 amps. I'm not sure if that's each fan or both together, but still, 11.4 amps seems pretty good to me. The fans do 2800 CFM total.

    Thanks for this video! I wasn’t able to find a video with a mechanical fan set up lol. I’m thinking of swapping my champion for one of these. How did it do at idle? That’s where I have the most issues. After about 20 minutes after thermostat opening I’m over 210. I’m Tryna stay at the 190-195 mark lol.

    • @trbokmro
      @trbokmro  Před 2 lety +1

      mine would do the same, I could drive and be fine at higher speeds than 35 but idle or low speed would climb over 210.... this absolutely fixed it. It actually cools down if just idling after driving it hard. I have not seen over 180 with my 165 stat no matter how hard i beat on it and its 90's here. 100% recommend this radiator and the stock fan shroud fits perfect definitely get the correct one for your engine. Small blocks and big blocks have different shrouds just a heads up

    i was looking at cold case also for a chevelle. what size fan are you using. what are advantages of running a clutch fan. was that a special radiator cap for filling

    • @trbokmro
      @trbokmro  Před rokem

      I like the clutch fan just because its simple and effective, one less thing to fail compared to electric fans with temps sensors and dual electrics can be horribly loud. The yellow radiator filler is handy to have to make burping air super easy since the fluid is so much higher than the engine, definitely recommend getting one.

    Nice car noticed you have a weiand stealth intake, how you finding the intake I was thinking of getting one

    • @trbokmro
      @trbokmro  Před rokem

      It seems to work really well for how I use the car which is mostly normal driving conditions and lower rpm, I never run it over 5500. If you are chasing max HP there are much better options.

      You can’t have too much cooling system imo. This keeps my iron big block cool in 90+ degree weather would definitely work on high compression small blocks.

    • @trbokmro

      165 stat, hands down best option over 3 or 4 core. 90+ summer days cruising around southern TN never goes over 180.
