"I don't even let people wag their finger in my face." I always loved that line😆
this episode was so important to television history. absolutely game changing
true that
Top 3 of the entire series.
Wym why?
@@miketrujillo3677 it was the first episode of tv where the main character, the person we are meant to sympathize with, is portrayed as unsympathetic. As a bad guy. That became a thing with great shows to come.
The whole show really kicks into gear with this episode.
That strangle scene was the moment this series changed television forever. There had never been a "bad guy" protagonist like this - prior to this the lead character of a series would never commit an act like that - it really set the a tone and let audiences know that they were in for the sort of series that no one had ever seen and set the show apart from any that came before it. Every anti-hero show (ie. Breaking Bad, Dexter, etc) produced after this was influenced by it and would not have existed without this series paving the way for that kind of character to be accepted
Oz was the show that started all of this type of story telling. Also an HBO production. Super slept on.
@@kevlar715it had bad writing
Everyone talks about Breaking Bad as one of the pioneering tv series this century, but it was simply a jacked up Weeds from around a decade previously. Remarkably similar storylines, the only difference being Weeds was a thriller comedy, whereas Breaking Bad was a pure thriller.
@@thecockerel86 weeds was great
The guy who created Dexter wrote that episode too.
The song at the end of the episode is Paparazzi by Xzibit. Quite honestly one of most perfect songs for a perfect moment of cinema. The FBI putting Junior as the boss confirms that their plan is working, even as Tony is really running things. So many awesome episodes coming!
@@Cassxowary yeah but this one has the deep bass drum, and is looped over and over, just like in the song from exhibit. But no doubt the rap song sampled another great song. As most rap songs were doing during that time. Lol.
OK but remember. Tony is the true Boss ....they are just letting Uncle Junior think hes the boss. and because they are doing this the FBI now thinks that Junior is the Boss lol. its smart on Tony's part.
The way BJ sit up when the priest spit that sunset line. He know that was top tier.
when the ducks flew away, they remind Tony he's losing his family... that's why the episode "College" is so special showing the real breaking point! his second life is drifting him away the more seriously he gets involved! even on a trip with his daughter...the simbolisms with animals throughout the series are very important!
James Gandolfini really sunk his teeth into this character. It only gets better and better. May he rest in peace.
You guys have me cracking up 😂😂 up about Father Phil. BJ " It's a little too dark in there " Asia later " I don't want to kiss you now 😂😂😳
These two episodes got me hooked to this show. There a lot more good ones to come.
BB King sang "I don't want a soul at my house when I'm not at home!". Father Phil demonstrates why.
Exactly!! He's so manipulative and snakey to me. I do not like him.
I envy you guys watching it for the first time. Episode 5 really put the series in high gear .
37:55 the story of the Bull is pulled from the 1988 film Colors, as told by Robert Duvall’s character to Sean Penn’s character.
Make no mistake Tony Soprano is not a good guy!!!! he is sleazy and vicious... it develops and more to come of course (hardly a spoiler) :)
God I had forgotten that Johnny Sac was in season one way back when !! lol these two have no idea the bad ass scenes to come with Tony and Johnny Sack. And his amazing way of smoking cigerettes, still unparalleled to this day!!
MAN honestly, i wish yall did sopranos 2-part episode watches EACH DAYYY lol im trying to watch same time and its hard to wait in between til you drop a new episode haha i wanna just watch and watchhhh
A good relaxing Sunday to watch some Sopranos with you two. Nice...
The last part always give me chill. DOPE
It's a genius move for Tony to let his uncle be the boss. Cause now all the attention is on Junior even though it's really Tony that runs things. About Doc Melphie, she was right in that Tony thinks he loves her but this is something that happens often with patients and their psy in that because the psy give them attention and listen to them, they confuse their feelings and imagine themselves in love with their psy. But most often than not it's just misunderstandings.
That beat at the end is from Xzibit, the track is called paparazzi.
@@Cassxowary I guess ok
Yes…Asia and BJ to the rescue again…I was having a super hard day, and now I have this to help soothe my soul 💕✌✨ this show was Everything…so addictive and I’m psyched to watch it again with y’all!!
And you guys… especially Asia… I just watched your titanic reaction, so great, but you mentioned your affinity for the deep sea (of course miss Scorpio ♏ lady) and it made me think of The Abyss… it’s a great movie you guys need to add to your list about deep sea exploration, work, and lifeforms that are unexpected…very cool effects for the times, I was dating a guy who was on the film crew at the time, I wish I could remember more of his stories about how they did everything, but it was groundbreaking work at the time. Anyway, hope you guys get a chance to check it out and enjoy it. Have a great day and thanks for everything you do!💚🌻💫
I hadn't watched the series until Ep 5. A friend from work was talking it up so I decided to tune in. I was hooked instantly.
That’s all it Takes with the Sopranos.
Some my favorite part… Tony “cleaning up” in Maine and the music at the end with the photos - genius!
I think you're both amazing! I got great vibes from both of you right from the start! Thank you for taking the time to make these incredible videos for all of us! I love that you enjoy doing this as well! I subscribed the other other day. Best wishes to you both,
-Chris
I’m a sopranos nerd I’ve seen the series more times than I can count and have watched multiple creators react to it. I believe it’s the best writing of any show in the history of TV and the actors were so amazing James G is the most underrated actor of all times. He’s really nothing like this character but he portrays Tony Soprano’s multi leveled character superbly. You guys are doing a great job not editing out the key moments which I’ve seen other reactors totally miss things and not be able to follow the plot so they edit out important moments and dialogue.. it’s also brilliantly hilarious as well. Keep the Sopranos reactions coming guys. Great job!
Episode 6- tony and Carmella scenes are absolute gold❤
the beat is from xzibit - paparazzi,. and you are right it is dope as hell
As two credit analysts you two would do great in the IRS analyst game taking down guys like Sopranos. As a side note, waste management makes some money in NJ, ie marina at cape may - boat named “Trashy Lady”, 1,2,3 - great grandfather, grandmother, father
Y’all post right on time for me to watch while I enjoy my lunch
i love that you are delving into The Sopranos ...please do Sling Blade if you havn't....
Study Criminal Justice. 🤣🤣🤣
It was so well written that you needed to talk over the episode with someone else and couldn’t wait until the next episode
Very smart to do the review 2 episodes at a time
Carmella repents her sins after 3 bottles of wine , then sober .. orders new furniture from Tony’s
“ terrible deeds “ 😄
Asia & BJ
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I've been thoroughly enjoying you guys reelin with the Sopranos and Game of Thrones. I've been subscribed for quite a while but now I just gotta join and be a bigger part of the fam. Don't want to miss anything.
Thnx again 😆👍
That "dope beat" at the end was a pop version of "Pavane" by Faure. The original version has lyrics, which are humorous, but they're in French.
Also Xzibit Paparazzi
@@francisalbert1799 this scene used the instrumental to Paparazzi for a reason lol
2:15 I always thought this episode opened up like some type of GTA game, and Tony spawning as the playable character lol
CAPO stands for Captain, or Caporegime, one step under the "Boss" in an Italian-American Mafia. I am really enjoying these reactions!
You two 😃😃 are cracking me up with your reactions. This is one of my most favorite shows and it’s so much fun seeing you two 😃😃 enjoy it.
I’m glad you caught that beat. It’s from a rap song by the rapper Xzibit I think it’s called paparazzi.
@40:42 Thought BJ would get the track, but if you didn't, it's Xzibit - Paparazzi. Fitting track for the scene
Can't believe you guys have watched GOT- The Sopranos and Breaking Bad for the first time all in the same year. Now all you need to do is watch The Wire!
Don’t forget…Tony’s fathers name was John “Johnny Boy” Soprano.
The Reason They Removed Payphones, You Can't Wire Tap Them..
I respect Junior for trying to find out if the drug dealer could fly.
19:49 Funny you say that brother. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great reaction! This is my favorite series and I'm loving your reactions!
9:22 At least he doesn't have an eye for the choir 🥴🥴🥴🥴🙈🙈🙈🙈
What kind of childhood these 2 had by not watching movies like Titanic, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre? I choose to disbelieve this is the first time ever watching these movies 🤣
Some people are not obsessed with movies you weirdo
Tony is Roman Catholic. Carmella is a devout Roman Catholic. Divorce is not an acceptable situation to either of them, although Carmella does eventually throw Tony out of the house and get an attorney.
I´ve seen this show 3 times, it´simply amazing and I love seeing your reaction 🙂
The song at the end is paparazzi by Xhibit
Episode 5 was ranked number 2 on TV Guide's 2009 list of "100 Greatest Episodes of All-Time".
You can find cameras as small as that button camera or you know good old-fashioned stick pin wicked cool also Wicked scary
Seen the series a few times. Enjoying watching with you....
The genius writing of Carmella being upfront about the priest spending the night even though nothing happened, while Tony hides about a woman therapist even though nothing also happened.
The pool scene with Tony and Carmella was Edie Falco's favorite scene to shoot.
“College” was where I was like… oh this is the greatest show ever made lol
“She should study criminal Justice”
Great reaction. Love this show and so much fun watching you watch it.
While his daughter is visiting college. Father and daughter time. Brutal, but this is that life. Writer’s thoughts this was one of the Sopranos best.
You guys gotta watch The Wire after, since you’re watching all these hbo shows.
So much more to come. Watching again.
Junior is not the real boss. He's only a lightning rod for the FBI, as Tony said. Tony calls the shots while everyone else thinks or acts like Junior is the boss.
Dr. Melfi with the Russian girl's voice while he's laying up next to his wife. Tony really needs the therapy 😆

bout to watch this reaction. much love asia and bj. stay blessed guys.
💕 Please watch 'The Long Kiss Goodnight' from 1996, starring Samual L. Jackson & Geena Davis. Also, 'Scarface' with Al Pacino, from 1983. I think you'll really enjoy them. 😁
BJ reacting to the priest talking about there being nothing wrong with taking in beauty with his eyes killed me
5:14 Ding Dong
'Who is it?'
Lightning
'Father Phil'
Thunder
Eye of the Storm
I hate to comment on shows because i believe in the "pure first time feeling". But u gona like this. Dont worry, your questions will be answered
Hey to the beautiful Asia and BJ. Loving you guys are doing this show. I was late on watching it myself. Have a wonderful day y'all. 💜💜
It's interesting that Tony's dreams about Dr. Melfi after his wife thinks something is going on between them.
Breaking Bad and the Sopranos are the only shows that I rewatch over and over. Bad guys that you love being bad.
asia’s crackles always get me 😭😭
You 2 are a trip to watch. You should review the movies Another 48 Hours, Silverado or Big.
Cant believe Im enjoying your Sopranos vibe Bravo
have you guys noticed that the actress who plays dr. melphi was the main character's wife on goodfellas ?
She was offered the role of Carmella but turned it down because she’d already played a mob wife. She took the role of Dr. Melfi instead.
Can NOT wait for ya'll to hit the Pine Barrens. lol
@@eric-pi2we "You got some relish?"
yes the waiter is a fed.
baked ziti, so that's what the kids are calling it now.
Eyo you guys need to watch this entire series above all else. The best series in television history.
My favorite TV show ever
Let’s do 2 weeks straight of 2 sopranos eps a night haha LETS BINGE A SEASON OR TWO haha
I hope you've seen Goodfellas in prep for ep. 8...It's one of my favorites!
It might not mean much in todays TV, but Tony strangling that guy invented the anti hero. It was the first time a main character was portrayed buy buy a bad guy. This is seen as one of the most important episodes in television history. Without Tony Soprano we don’t get Walter White. The Soprano’s ran so that breaking bad could also run. They are the best TV dramas to come out in the the last 30 years. People say that the Wire is just as good but I think it get very slow. It tries to be an urban version of the sopranos but lacks the heart. I’m so exited to rewatch this show with the two of you.
Have you ever watched APOLLO 13? Or HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER? Quality-wise, they are in the ballpark of FORREST GUMP and SHAWSHANK REDEPMTION. It's different genres, but the tight narration is the same kind of quality. Recommend!
You guys really need to watch Kung Fu Hustle. Your reactions would be priceless, especially if you've never seen it.
You're reactions are the best
The College episode is my favorite so far.
You can tell Asia and BJ love the Sopranos
Hesch was his dad's guy. They go way back.
Love these eps!
James Gandolfini's last meal included a double order of foie gras. Goose liver...
College is one of the greatest sopranos episodes
I’m currently on season 4 great show so far
Found you guys about a week ago been binge watching since.
If you haven’t watched it yet please could you do Legends of the Fall.
Thanks from Wales
Asia & BJ -
OK I joined
I'm from the Philly area.
🎉 🙋
BJ, I don't think you're that much younger than I am, you should know that beat. Xzibit - Paparazzi. Old school banger.
We need Rush Hour 2! Love watching movies with you guys 🍿🎞️
45:48 I think Asia falling for Tony lol. He always gets the girl
3:12 🤣🤣🤣🤣
