Heartaches By The Number is a classic country shuffle in Bb made famous by Ray Price. I'm gonna show you how to solo over this country tune using two country bending licks and a few variations. Both licks are attached to CAGED shapes and are movable. This makes it very easy to use them over a I-IV-V progression

Your playing and sound are so great, I sent this to a couple of friends who aren't even guitar players!

That's some of the most convincing faux pedal steel I've ever seen on CZcams. The two-string bending technique at 2:37 illustrates this perfectly, and is well worth pursuing. Much better than just bending one string.

Great tips- and love how this is targeting professionals that already know theory etc.

Bending 6ths has been one of my favorite pedal steel mimic licks for years. Sounds great as long as you’re mindful of your intonation.

Great lesson, Jason, thanks. I have done the sixth bend (poorly) in the past using 2nd and 3rd fingers, but your way, using 3rd and 4th fingers, is much better - it intonates more easily, maybe because the pinkie is better matched to the 1/2 tone bend.

Good stuff, Jason. Thank you so much! You've probably been asked 1000 times, but could you give us specs on your guitar. I see you have a Femenella Custom. But your neck pickup doesn't match anything I see on his website. What is that? I absolutely love the sound of the bridge pickup! Femenella tends to use Fralin pickups. Is that what you're using? Thanks in advance.

This isn't my main guitar, this is the Jason Loughlin signature model made by Femenella Custom. My main guitar is in desperate need of a refret. All the specs for my main guitar and the signature model can be found on my site. We're currently not making them right now. The cost of one piece ash has gone up and Lou can't really keep up with orders. www.jasonloughlin.com/signature-guitar

It's in the notes above, but, spoiler alert, Jason uses Lollar Charlie Christian pickups in the neck position. They're really nice.

@@DaveBroTube Lollar... thanks for this. This is the first I've seen the Charlie Christian. Impressive specs.

@@JasonLoughlinMusic Thanks, Jason. Appreciate you taking time to respond. Pretty guitar. Great sounding pickups. Oh! And you've got some talent, young man. Stick with it, and this whole music thing just might work out for you! lol
