    I would assume it fits the theme of being a rebellious vandal. Taking that route in life often leads people to not be formally suited for combat and they’ll have to resort to doing whatever the hell works when shit gets heated.

      This is actually somewhat supported by the dev by what they've said in interviews. Personally, I don't think the thematic elements need to be that deep for the sake of undercooked gameplay mechanics, but that's just me.

    The Bombrush community making combat mods already is wild! Just imagine if we get a BRC2 before JSR3 that actually expands on combat alongside tricks and combos?
    The existence of this game already feels like a miracle, yet I can already see a sequel being possible and just as exciting!

    this video is a wonderful contribution to the shared knowledge of this game! thank you immensely for creating this and im grateful you shedded light on how much more could be done with the system! i didnt have problems with it during my playthrough but i can certainly see how annoying it would be to someone less familar with games. i to enjoy but understand that dislike that the game didnt tell you much to do on combat because this is really one of those games that doesnt try to hand hold, as such could make finding out tech rewarding or fun or frustrating considering one might not know what to do or all of the resources available to them. as far as your combos, DAMN YO this video is SLICK! thank you immensely for making this! it certainly isnt a too pretty of a fighting system but compared to JSRF it was very welcomed, i screamed out of excitedment that there was a combat system on my first playthrough at the police station

    At one point, we'll have to learn how to make this flow with normal combos to make them look even flashier and stylish than now. It always feels like the combat was made to be used as a combo extender and for more platforming options(just look at all those towers and aircrafts) when I see the boosted jump and its properties for combat.

  • @shoelace5977
    @shoelace5977 Před 10 měsíci +2

    if you jump into the air right after hitting a cop while boosting, you can paint em, but also, being grounded while boosting ends the combo, so yeah, thats a bit of clarity if anyone's confused. seems like you have to be airborne to tag enemies.
    LOVE this video! it's such a shame the combat isnt explained by the game, as tagging and combat is what makes combos special imo.

    Want to make a small correction! There *is* a difference between skateboards, rollerblades, and BMX! Just not in the way they move.
    Skateboards can hop on fire hydrants and extend them, rollerblades can break glass beneath them by sliding, and bikes can enter bike garages.
    I don't blame you for not knowing this bc the game never tells you, *I* found out on Steam Discussions lol
    (also yeah I know this doesn't have much to do with your video but also if anyone's trying to 100% the game not knowing this is a NIGHTMARE)
    Great video though! I'm going to try some of this stuff sjhdw

      @@LotsofLatte Additionally, there _are_ small stat differences.
      *BMX:*
      Manual time: |||||
      Turn radius: |
      *Board:*
      Manual time: |||
      Turn radius: |||
      *Skates:*
      Manual time: |
      Turn radius: |||||
      In short, skates have better control but much shorter slides. BMX has the best manual but clunkier control. Skateboard is the "jack of all trades" option.

    I hated the combat at first but I read somewhere that if you time your jump after you do an “on-foot” trick (by simply pressing Square/X, Triangle/Y, Circle/B), you send cops flying up, leaving them wide open to tag almost all of them.
    And if you want to tag the ones with the shields, you have to boost into them and then launch them in the air with the method I mentioned.
    I thought you had to attack them on the ground by button mashing them, but no, you can just press two inputs and then tag them which made the combat easier and more enjoyable.

    Excellent video! I'm gonna have to crack this back open and lab :D
    Something I find interesting about the spray is, it doesn't even 'cancel' per se. Like, it doesn't return your character to their idle/neutral state. Instead, it's what Warframe calls a 'one-handed action.' Your full/lower body continues doing whatever it's already doing, and the spray can is used _by a separate part of the body._
    Stylish Finishers remind me of Shinobi PS2's tate system. It's all about figuring out what type of move will guard-break each enemy and open them up to an instant-kill, so the style comes from clean 'one shot, one drop' strings, rather than juggling. It's cool to see that this game can satisfy both urges!

    If someone ends up modding multiplayer pvp combat into this I bet the players would figure out a bunch of cool tech cuz that'd be a fighting game at that point lol
    Also, while playing I kept thinking like why didn't they add some pro wrestling moves to this? Like it would feel so natural to have your midair backflip turn into a bodyslam whenever there are some enemies below you, which happens often. Basically launch and tag one cop and get the rest of 'em by dive bombing back to the ground, this just makes so much sense picturing it in my head ya know?

  • @bugjams
    @bugjams Před 10 měsíci +3

    Ive noticed sometimes when boosting into enemies, they might collide with terrain or props and die instantly. It doesnt seem consistent so Im not sure exactly how to do it, but it seems like sometimes an enemy will get caught on a prop, corner, or small ledge, letting the boost hit them multiple times in a super small time frame, because enemies dont get s.

    I Gotta say, the heat actually still increases extremely slowly when defeating officers without tagging.
    You just have to beat up like 80 officers to get an other star.
    About doing aerial combos, I’m strongly convinced they intentionally made it hard to perform.
    You can do these on Shield guys for some reason.
    For officiers, when you are the one launching them into the air, you almost can’t touch them again while their in the air, as if their hit boxes is not the same in this state.
    And yet, If they’re propelled into the air by the Tank, They are comboable in the air.
    So it doesn’t surprise me there’s a DMC combat mod, since all you gotta do is replace your propulsion effect by the one of the tank, and now they’re more floaty and much easier to combo in the air.
    And one last thing,
    Just an opinion but DMC is vertical while BRC is horizontal.
    You should be focused on how to eliminate enemies fast instead trying to do combos.
    You’re not meant to fight them but roll on them, while keep doing your combos.
    However, it seems when they spawn, player just switch mentality to: “Well, no Skate available anymore…Just kick…No boost, no rails, no combo, no slides…Just… press *Kick*”
    I seriously consider uploading rushes of my gameplay cause I feel like I play very differently from other players.
    Okay, one more thing, you can slide, and the moment you hit the enemy, jump and boost into them.
    You can also, on hit, cancel a super jump into a boost trick, which can be canceled into a air dash.
    I don’t use the spray, personally, unless I want to tag them to finish them of.

      I'm perplexed by some of these points on a video specifically designed to explain how to do combat in cool ways that goes *against* the game's intention and design. That's what personally makes it fun. I'm also pretty positive I mention several of these aspects in the video as well (ie the grounded combat etc).

    Fire video. I was wondering how you still had 15 minutes left of content for me to watch after coming to the conclusion that BRC's combat wasnt the best. The montage shortly afterwards got me excited, im glad you took the time to experiment with BRC and what youve managed to discover looks really freakin' cool. I plan to do the same, and will be releasing a video soon that touches on the look and feel of combinations. I may also keep in touch, as i feel this game still has alot left to unpack. Yeah it's around 14:02 and onward he touches on it briefly. From what I can tell, the police largely being avoidable and just a nuisance was kind of the point of their inclusion. He does mention there are moments of where the player is forced to be in those situations but he barely explains the combat mechanics themselves and overall it also kind of feels like an after-thought or very low on the totem pole of gameplay aspects, which is understandable. I'm not sure if I think it was implemented very well though.

      @@LotsofLatte for me that explains a lot! By making it really an after thought really the combo system stand out even more and I know for a fact that this combat will be use as a combo extender for ya high score when people figure out how to do consistently that is. There's still a lot of improvement to do with the combat but I will honestly not mind if the devs don't fix the combat.
