I had bought this book last year and couldn't really get into it. recently I started listening to The Reading Hag Returns here on CZcams and started listening to Crescent City and just fell in love with the book and finally finished it. I think Bryce is my absolute favorite S.J. Maas character.
I always forget spoilers plus I won't get to these books for a while which means I'll be watching the whole vid!

I couldn’t agree MORE about the short summary on the back. I read it and then totally forgot it, and read the book a few months later. When *that event* happened I was like omg wow, and then I reread the summary and was like wow that’s stupid 😂

Seriously I used to thought it was 300 pages book until I saw it in your intro. Now I'm questioning my decision to read it...
Oh my god I had the exact same thoughts as you did about both books. Both were 5 star reads for me but I definitely loved the first book more. But these books were the first and only Sarah J Maas books I have ever read so I didn't really feel the same about the ending of the second book that most people did. I think I was just mostly confused and intrigued and I feel like I'm missing out on a lot. But one of my reading plans for this year is to read TOG and ACOTAR, after which I plan on rereading both books in the Crescent City series. I've already bought a boxed set of TOG and can't wait to dive in to it.

I’ve never read the Acotar series but I’ve read TOG. I personally enjoyed Crescent City, even though it’s gotten a lot of hate. I just finished the first book about to read the second, but I’ve heard not great things about it. People are comparing a lot to ACOTAR but I’ve hear they’re really boring so I don’t have an interest in reading them. I did really enjoy the journey of TOG series but the end kind of felt rushed and disappointing for how long the last book was.
You can not read crescent city before ACOTAR. This is super important
