In today's video, we are giving an outdated dining room table a much-needed furniture makeover. I achieved these beautiful results using @CountryChicPaint products. I share my step-by-step process of sanding off an old finish and adding a wash to showcase the beautiful wood grain. This is the start to finish process of prepping, painting, and sealing for a fabulous transformation.

Oh i agree the chairs would look realy nice matching the runner please show us when you do the chairs ❤.
I'm all about matchy matchy. Maybe the seats in the darker color? The table is gorgeous!
WAo what a beautiful job it is so nice we learned alot now we can also have such a great looking table thank you ❤.
Very nice! Both are great ideas!!
Just lovely 😻
Beautiful!
The chairs in a darker contrast will make the table pop. I got over matchy, matchy, when I realized it could get boring👍
I think the wall behind the table should now b a different color, 2 compliment the table, or cause its 'new look' 2 sort of POP a bit...darker.
Then, the chairs done in the table color, with just the 'chair seats' in a different
color.
Everything should draw the eye 2 this beautiful tabletop, I believe.
Plus, my table runner would be glass.
I think that matching the chairs to the runner is a really good idea! The table looks really nice, and I hope that you will finish the chairs in a video so that we can see the entire set.
I am with you the table is beautiful and matching the chairs to the table runner is fantastic idea
Table top is just beautiful. I like the neutral color of the legs as well (what is that color ?). You gave a great demonstration of how to whitewash the top,of table.👏.
Canopy, definitely!
This turned out so nicely. I’m with you, paint the chairs a different color. Definitely darker. I enjoy your videos, thanks.
Gorgeous
Beautiful
Amy! Shut the front door! That tabletop 😍 and the sponge! they are huge...I need one of those
Haha yeah! They have them in a pack of three on Amazon😁
I’d like to see how you painted the chairs!
Beautifully done. You’re right, that top is gorgeous!
Thank you ❤️
Very nice!
Those colors are so pretty and that table turned out GORGEOUS! I think the chairs would be beautiful in driftwood 😍
Beautiful! Matching colors with your table runner would be nice and I also like the green! ❤❤. Please show us your chairs as you do them!
Always wondered. Thank you for defining that.
I would maybe do the seat and the middle back of the chair in a darker color, like driftwood, so they would still match the table but also the tablerunner.
Oh I like that idea, thank you!
That table came out beautiful. I see it with black chairs, but since I don’t know what the rest of your decor looks like, I love the green.
The table is stunning the way turned out. As for the chairs I would paint them in a light color but maybe just slightly darker then the table
It's absolutely beautiful! UK.
Very nice. Black chair a nice contrast
Omg this came out amazing. Either color for the chairs would be great; but I would use the driftwood. GORGEOUS!
I think this might be my favorite video of yours. So satisfying watching the transformation! I just love that tabletop. I agree that a darker neutral would be gorgeous.
Thank you so much!
thank you for showing us how you did this, the result was stunning! I shall try it out on my old kitchen table.
Driftwood!
I love their driftwood. Beautiful table.
Very nice! I personally like a contrast that compliments but either will look beautiful with your set. Nice job.
Beautifully done 💐🧡💐
Love your table. I like matching chairs. But that's just me xx
Me parece que igual me ha quedado muy bonito también el sobre de la mesa en madera natural dado que era muy bonita simplemente barnizado es una opinión respeto tu elección por supuesto
Beautiful whitewash.
Thank you 😊
thank you for sharing your work. I have a dining table and chairs I got from my mother in law. It was a 40 yr old furniture. I have been wanting to paint it because it’s to woody in my dining. but i am scared or maybe feel doubt of covering the grain of oak wood. I don’t know what to do… you did great.
Beautifully done! I'd paint the chairs darker for contrast.
The table looks beautiful I would go with the darker shade for the chairs
Driftwood would look so good
Looks so amazing!! I love the color choice. I really like how to top finish looks so pretty.
Wonderful I love the top too, I like the lighter of the two other colors for the chairs nice contrast
What an excellent transformation! This is by far my favorite wood color!
Beautiful! For the chairs, I like the canapé.
Beautiful Amy!❤️
Girl, this turned out beautiful. The chairs, maybe a different color, but seeing the chair you painted, that looks nice as well. Hard choice. I’m sure what ever you pick will be beautiful. Job well done!👍🥰
Thank you!
This table turned out beautiful. I love the white washed top. It is so different from a dark top and makes a lot of difference in the appearance. Thanks for a great video !!
Definitely driftwood. Gorgeous table! ❤️
Lovely! I like driftwood.
I would differently paint the chairs another warm color. You did a awesome job on the table, it’s beautiful!
Looks fantastic I think driftwood would look good 💜🕉
I agree the chairs should be a different color than the table. Driftwood or an earthy tone like it would go very well!!
Love the transformation!
Canapy, definitely.
Came out gorgeous Amy... absolutely beautiful 💕👍
Thank you!😊❤️
The transformation is gorgeous! Amazing job! Makes me want to paint my furniture.
What a beauty!
Love the color choices. Great job
This is just the inspiration I need to transform my ancient dining table too! Thank you for your excellent video and the table looks fabulous ❤
I would sand the seats down to bare wood on the chairs, do the paint wash like you did on the table top and paint the rest of the chair in a slightly darker color
Oh, I love that idea!! That might be my favorite idea yet😊 thank you!
Beautiful! I, myself, would go with driftwood.
I wouldn’t stick to matching the runner because at some point you may want to change the runner. I would however go with a contrasting color to compliment the table top!! Love the table and I’ll use a similar technique to paint my table.
The table came out beautiful. I would paint the chairs in the same color as your apron and legs.
I like the chairs matching but since that’s not the option I would pick driftwood. The table turned out beautiful!
Thank you! It’s still is an option. I keep going back-and-forth. I just can’t make up my mind😬
I would do just the seats of the chairs and the driftwood. The table came out great!
So pretty.. Total make over
Gorgeous. I think the driftwood would be great on chairs
The table is beautiful. I would definitely paint the chairs a different color. Something just a bit darker.
I would go for a darker colour for the chair's. The table is stunning.
Your table looks great!!! 🌸❤️🌸
Thank you!
Gorgeous choice. Since a runner is cheap and can be switched out for the seasons, I would keep the chairs soirée to match any season.
Beautiful results. Contrast with Driftwood, it may add that pop of contrast.
Turned out beautiful 🤗
Thank you ❤️
The table looks beautiful, such a lovely veneer, but it kinda gets swallowed by the pale wall in the background (actually a dark warm neutral wall would be my preferred setting for this table). So definitely thumbs up for the canape chairs, may I even suggest a wash in canape. This way chairs would frame the table and make it pop. IMO, the same colour would make it all bland.
Oh Amy this is so so gorgeous I think it's my favourite so far ,the colour is gorgeous really really beautiful it's, stylish, classy, highend, warm without being too warm wow I can't say enough good things, girl you out did yourself with this one,I actually want to try country chic myself and yeah driftwood sounds perfect for the chairs I cant wait to see what you do with them, take care all the best Mary in Australia 🌻
Thank you Mary 😊❤️
Great table but it seems you did this 2 years ago! What did you do with the chairs? I'm planning to work on my wood table and 6 chairs and would love to see how you did your chairs! Please post a video!!!
Canapy I think. ❤️
Love the color. Chairs in another color might accent the table. You have great taste and whatever you pick will look good.
Thank you so much 😊
Beautifully done!
Thank you!
I love the way the table looks, but I would do the chairs in the same color, you can bring color in through placemats etc.
I would use driftwood definitely for a breezy, Beachum look - very sophisticated as well. Thanks again for a great, informative & detailed video! Cherie🤓🏝
Thank you 😊
Wow!
Gorgeous Amy 😍
Thanks Tarnya😊
Your table came out beautiful, love the grain peeking through the wash. For the chairs, I would have at least 2 different paint styles. Select your favorite coordinating colors but switch up the details. For example, different spindle/seat/leg colors could be a choice. My Mom had a beautiful Hitchcock Chair Co. dining set all in a beautiful stain. I started my chair collection when I was 20. Each time my family grew I added new chairs. Now I have different style/color/shape dining room chairs. Plus they have different stencils and tops/seats/arms. It sounds like a lot but Hitchcock made all their pieces to coordinate. I've never been very matchy matchy and it's just fun to switch them around! I think you would enjoy the variety too Amy!! Have fun with it! Check out Hitchcock Chair Co. It was founded in Riverton, Connecticut in 1818. They have since closed but are operation again in 2021 in Winchester, Connecticut. I now own my Mom's collection & mine so I'm a very lucky Connecticut girl. Needless to say, I won't be painting any of my Hitchcock furniture!!🌷🌷🌷
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I’ve always wanted to try country chic paint .. I have the brush and it’s one of my favorites. Love the clean look of the table and the wood grain peeking through.. very contemporary! Excellent choices.
Thank you! I'm loving the Country Chic colors❤️
It's lovely!
It would look great to match the runner. My question is, what if you change runners? Is the color neutral enough to match whatever decor you might use in the future?
You have such an eye for these things and such talent!
Driftwood
Beautiful!! Thank you for the video as I am new to furniture flipping. I just redid a kitchen table too but don’t have tough coat, just the clear one. Do you think 3-4 coats of the clear coat would be ok for the top? Thanks!
Another beautiful piece! I’m wondering if you have ever used polycrylic protective finish? Or is that not recommended with chalk paint? Any advice welcome here🙂
Gorgeous! How about different colours for the chairs? All in the same colour family though.
Thank you!
My husband had the same idea. I might do it that way😊
Same color for the chairs, please!!!!
Hi I am so happy your video popped in my feed! Your table came out just beautiful🙌🏻🌟💫 I love it! I am a Country Chic fan as well❣️ new subscriber here! if you don’t mind I’d like to ask you for advice on a project I’m working on.....I have. 30 yr old solid white maple table....the clear coat on it yellowed or darkened over the years so I decided to sand it down to bare wood....lots of sanding that factory finish off!! Anyway I decided to use Country Chic Hemp oil for the top....the legs were white and I stripped them to bare wood with stripper.....the apron is white....so getting to my issue after 6 coats of hemp oil and letting it sit over night each time .....after buffing it’s still not smooth! The oil also brought back the yellowing color (when bare looked like yours) so I really like yours what would I have to do to change to a paint wash....I have Crinoline....I would hate to erase the nice drink of water the table obviously needed....I know you can use water based over oil base but I would most likely need to sand to bare wood....I’m blabbering...so sorry....any advice would be most appreciated!! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous project...can’t wait to see what you do with your chairs😊kim
Thank you for this tutorial. I really was aiming for the same results in a table I booth at a garage sale for $60. It is the same too designs as yours. With a veneer top. I used the same 80 grid sand paper on a random circular sander but I didn’t get the same results as you 😞. In some parts of the table the sander broke throughout the ven we. I don’t have an uniform wood grain look anymore. What would you suggest for me to do? I really wanted to get the restoration hardware look for this table. Please advise, thank you so much !!!
Hello, I paint my table the same and I love it, what color paint you choose for your chairs, let us know thank you
It's ok
Gorgeous Table!!Chairs should be darker..
The result is amazing but all these products you used are expensive, + the label is it worth???
This looks great, I just did a night stand which was pine. Removed varnish sanded and bleach several times. Applied Sunday tea Country chic chalk paint and wiped off. It shows the orange grain through and I hated it. I now used two parts water and one part paint and did not wipe off, some grain is showing, I dont like the chalky look. I’m not sure what to do next I’m thinking off putting white wax on to lighten it over all. Your thoughts?
Hi! Since you are painting over pine It’s most likely the orange coming through are tannins. Are you trying to get full coverage or just a wash?
If you are painting full coverage you can easily add a blocking primer then repaint.
If you are doing a wash it gets a little trickier with pine. You need to use a clear blocking primer. For this I use Dixie Belle’s Boss in clear. The reason is Boss has more of a Matte finish so when you add your wash it won’t look shiny underneath. Pine and red woods usually need a primer.
You might be better off with a natural color stain instead of the Sunday tea. Lily Moon vintage has a few beautiful natural stain options.
Another option would be to keep it natural pine then use a flat/matte sealer over it. The flat tends to not change the color as much.
