  • Hey guys, FatBuddyCat here! I finally got a BT200X. Today, we will start fitting it up for modifications including an upgraded engine, torque converter, brakes, handlebars and more. Bare with me as I aim for perfection, where many may call somethings good enough I take it to the next level.....

      Rock on! Some guys dent the gas can and others try and find or modify the fittings to clear with these ARC side covers. This opened up the area a lot better than I expected, I've raced it off road and it seems to be a solid concept.

      Some of my videos are long but I cover a lot of the technical aspects that go towards building better, higher quality mini bikes. I'll be adding preload to the suspension, installing a bullet proof pull starter and making a few more adjustments soon.

    • @fatbuddycat
      @fatbuddycat  Před rokem +1

      It would really be ok where it's at but mine does seem particularly far out. It's funky because I can't trim the brake side or it will bind up, I actually had to add a washer to the factory setup to get it to work properly with the axle tight. I tried banging the brake anchor over, it is pushing the drum out of alignment. It moved a little but didn't make much difference. I could trim the anchor portion of the housing back I suppose but I'd rather leave that alone. Someone welded the bracket to far inward to cause this.

  • @Deucealive75
    @Deucealive75 Před rokem +1

    When it comes to alignment with a torque converter I could only comment about the 200U. If you use a forward riser or not you will not get close to perfect alignment. You will only get "acceptable" alignment. In order to get close to perfect alignment you need to start by checking sprocket to engine plate with a straight edge with the engine off the bike. This tells you where your axle should be. On a 200U you can't use the marks on the frame for the axle. If you use the marks on the frame it will be way off. The sprocket will point away from the engine. And have you ever noticed that on everyone's 200U the back tire does not line up with the fender at the back of the bike? This is because the brake side of the axle is too far forward. They have come that way brand new out of the box.
    The second thing needed is the engine moved over to the left appx an eighth inch or so to get the best alignment front to rear sprocket. This can be looked at sprocket to sprocket with a straight edge and the driven pulley removed like you did here. How you get it moved over is up to you if you even want to go that far with it.
    Very few guys look at alignment this closely. I'm sure they do the same with the plate bind into the cooling tin bolt head. I just trim the backing plate down with a bench grinder and make sure a feeler gauge fits through once it's bolted up. There's no need to trim the cooling tin.
    A few years ago there was a guy complaining about the alignment and blamed the forward riser quality. It's not the riser at all. It's just that the alignment is off to start with and you have to work it if you want better alignment.

    • @fatbuddycat
      @fatbuddycat  Před rokem

      That's exactly what I'm out to prove!! I took my parallels to the axle before I went back to the new tire. That's when I figured it out. I ordered a sprocket adapter for my 54t ring sprocket. I'll be offsetting the sprocket to the inside so that it lines up with the pulley. Then I'm going to use my trimmed plate, it's not bent like I thought it might be. I'm working on a sweet EX too!! 😋 that one is gonna be more of a cruiser with a really dependable build.....I'm trying to build a stroked out gx160 by using a 196 block, 196 crank, 160 cam, 160 head....Governor still in!! 😳

    • @fatbuddycat
      @fatbuddycat  Před rokem +1

      Absolutely! Most dudes would leave the chain with a little bit of offset and run it.....but I ain't most dudes!! I can get this thing lined up way better than they did at the factory. They definitely have something in the wrong place, if its not the brake anchor then it has to do with the location the axle tabs themselves. The bolts were very loose taking it apart, I'm guessing the factory jackshaft didn't line up either.

    FBC... How much do you charge to put together one of those Fuel Tank Lift Kits and mailed to Arizona? I have a BT200X with a 212 Ghost on it and I need to lift the fuel tank up higher so fuel will gravity feed down to the carb. I need about a 2" to 3" lift. Can you put together a kit based on your design but lifting the tank just a bit higher? If so, let me know how much. I can PayPal ya.
    I currently have no tools or a place to do fabrication and at 124 degrees during the day, we'd be insane to try and do any work outside anyways.

    Real wheel is cocked causing misalignment

    • @fatbuddycat
      @fatbuddycat  Před 8 měsíci

      The alignment is off about 1/4 inch from front to rear. I used an adapter to move the sprocket inbound since you run out of room on the jackshaft running that sprocket outbound. I've fixed this issue on numerous bikes. A lot of people cheat the rear wheel tensioners and pull the axle off center. If you do that you will create a couple more issues.
