    G'day, Warren! Great job! I'm so happy for you! What a neat find, and a handy machine to have around the shop. TCI H4M80 All Terrain Forklift 4X4, has a 21' Lift, Side Shift, 6000 lb. Capacity, 4 Speed Trans with Torque Converter Reverser Transmission, fabulous 4 cylinder Diesel Engine. Weighs 10,000 - 12,000 lbs. Plus! It Will Go Anywhere!!
    By the way... 'TCI Power Products' began making the Dynalift tele forklifts in North Dakota in 1974. It was purchased by Gehl in 1988. The TCI Dynalift was the predecessor of models like the Gehl 663 Dynalift, (TCI which was green OEM color) which was one heck of a good forklift, built like an anvil. And, they're a very nice machine to work on. Telescope cylinder easy to remove, Rockwell external caliper brakes can be serviced without wheel removal, protected hoses on outside of boom to fork level/tilt cylinders instead of inside the boom. The 663 had several nice mechanic features, too. Enjoy!
    Cheers! :-)

    One thing we've done with our lift is to reverse the forks on carriage slide...mount 'em upside down....looks weird as hell but gives you an extra 30" or so of lift when lifting a component up-over-down....needs a warning lable tho to warn of severe pelvic injury if walking near it in darkness....one of those like decal showing person caught up in a pto shaft....except this would show person doubled over, holding the injured region with both hands etc. Great channel and don't ever slack off on commentary...its right in line with what a huge group of folks think and always nice to hear!!!

    Superglue the magnet on the camera. Check that oil dip-stick., purge the fuel filter of water, can of starting fluid, check air filter, look for critters nests, chewed wires. Check the water in the radiator. That starting fluid may get that bead back on the tires.

  • @deezelfairy
    @deezelfairy Před 2 lety +4

    Couple of ways we get the forks off the ground for transport Warren.
    1) Use a hand winch/chain hoist hooked to a mast cross member and the carriage and just winch it up.
    2) Use your crane to lift the carriage 2-3 feet so the lift chains are really slack, pull them forwards out the front of the mast then slide a couple of nice 4x4's between the chains and across the mast channels then lower the carriage back down - that'll just get the forks off the ground enough to get it on a trailer.

    I agree,Starting fluid today appears to be full of Soy milk instead of ether. I dont' need it often but it's a hassle when you are trying to fire some worn out engine. I would have loved an all terrain Fork years ago but what we had was an old Fordson tractor with Forks mounted on the back ,the back became the front... so it had the ring gear flipped to give forward gears instead of reverse .

    I usually have better luck seating beads if I lay the tire down with the rim on a block to push the bead up on 1 side then you are only fighting 1 bead. John Deere ether is the best about 1 second for every inch of width. Forklift tires should be solid filled or at least a good dose of sealant

    Either kills an engine, best for cleaning parts, no residue. We take gas and soak a rag , then hold over intake. Or take old inner tube and cut a 8 inch circle around the valve stem , saving the stem. Take that over fuel filler pipe at fuel tank and run hose clamp around it. Plug off breather tube and put air into fuel tank and system. Crack open line at injection pump, then you know you have plenty of fuel. Works well for engine that hasn't run in a long time.

    As a retired forklift mechanic, the correct way is to chain it is to one of the welded cross bars on the back of the mast. You could lift the carriage up with your truck Crain so you don’t have to waste all that fresh hyd oil. But it’s always your call for your own safety.. I only ever got to work on one of those old TCI four wheel models in twenty seven years , so they are like chicken lips pretty hard to find..

    Warren, the John Deere starting fluid is the best, it has the most Ether in it. It been a while since I looked at a can of it, I think it should have 60% or more Ether in it. 50 years ago JD had 100% in it. Damn companies keep cheapening up products.

    Nice score Warren. I had an old military surplus Ross forklift WW2 vintage. It got the job done for us. Old continental flathead engine. Simple 6 volt electrical. The shifter had been blocked so you only had forward or reverse. I wouldn't have ever wanted to drive it faster than a crawl. The old units were so much easier to keep running.
