- #RIPJonSchnepp: 1967-2018
On today's special episode of Movie Talk, we remember the life and legacy of our dear friend and colleague Jon Schnepp with stories from Jon's co-workers, friends, and family.
If you'd like to help Jon's family pay for his medical bills and final expenses, you can do so here: gofundme.com/g...
"There is no hatred allowed in our world of the imagination. We are the strong minded and the accepting of all races, all thoughts, all beliefs."
-Jon Schnepp
I cried so hard at that.
Words spoken by a legend. Amen.
nomack000 Very well spoken, and I think fans should really learn from Schnepp
Also - shout out to Mark for hosting. That was not an easy job and you did it with strength and respect. Great job
Agreed
Hes a great host all the time, but he handled this extremely well.
Absolutely. He is incredibly classy and manages to find the right thing to say at any moment. Mark is another person we should recognize for what he brings us and appreciate him while he is still with us. Of course that goes for the others too. It's one of the lessons we can take away from Schnepp. He didn't take anyone for granted.
He was stoic and im sure that couldn't have been easy
It would be so satisfying to see Jon Schnepp's picture featured at next year's Oscar's Memoriam
TheCornbeefsoup He did direct a feature length documentary (The Death of Superman Lives) so it's actually a possibility
Let Superman himself remind the Academy. It would be great.
Jon Schnepp should definitely be in the Emmys In Memoriam in September. He’s worked on shows like Metalocalypse, the Venture Bros, Agua Teen Hunger Force, and Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
How could we make this happen?
Thanks Campea for introducing us to Schnepp.
Please don't take his past shows off of CZcams that is all we have to remember him by.
Thank you Mark Ellis for being the captain of this ship, it was an emotional and powerful show with many tears and you did a great job bringing us all through it with class and grace
R.I.P. to the big sweaty #jonschnepp
I come back and rewatch videos of Master Schnepp often. Stay sweaty, forever and always
It was so good to see David Griffin again and sad at the same time. When he started crying I lost it and started crying too. Man, I'm gonna miss Jon.
Thanks Collider for taking the time to remember Jon with those of us who couldn't be at Comic Con.
afro curly girl I did the same thing
Soo Kute We're a bunch of sap's.
I also started crying with David and continued to bawl with Josh & Sinéad. Honestly the tears were also for seeing all those no longer on the air at Collider. I miss all of you.
I did too. And I also agreed with his words. Rest peacefully, Jon Schnepp. 💔
David, Sinead, Josh, Frosty and Holly all broke me. 😔
My God, Mark Ellis is an AMAZING host for this memorial. Good job, Mark. The sweaty guy will be truely missed
Its been 2 years damn time files
I have to be honest. I never thought anyone who I've never met would have this much of an effect on my life like Jon Schnepp did. I'm literally crying right now and have been for the past 3 days. It really becomes like an internet family: these collider and schmoes people. I first dove into this collider schmoes universe in 2013 and have been listening to shows with him ever since. I was 12 at the time; I essentially grew up listening to and watching Jon Schnepp. Jon could always make me laugh when I was having a bad day and I always felt like we were friends and again I never met him. He was never shy about his opinion, but yet he expressed them in such an awesome way and that made me more confident in my own opinions and taught me how to express my opinions of this geek stuff. I think ultimately the reason I'm so sad is that he showed us who he really is and we loved him for it. I can't even imagine what the people who actually knew him must be going through. Schnepp, you are irreplaceable and we will never forget you and we will love you forever. RIP Buddy
Please be incredibly sensitive to his friends and family in these hard times.
well said
When Kristian and Schnepp were on collider news at the same time it was always a must watch for me . Just so funny together . Schnepp always brought a smile to my face . Will be missed !
I don't even watch Collider anymore, but I had to tune in for this one. RIP Schnepp
Same
Same bro. He and Amy put me on to so many different cool comics that I would never have looked at. Thank you so much, sir. 🤘🏽🤘🏽
David and Sinead just destroyed me. 😭😭😭
Sinead really got me. And Griffin
CK K same
This is it. This is why I adore Collider. This family. It feels like the family has been kind of split up recently, and it breaks my heart, but I'm so grateful that they've made a time for everyone to come back together to mourn.
Heaven has never been so sweaty.
Alphamega Zulu lol this is a great comment
I will miss his crazy rants, his silly whispers but most of all I will miss the way he never failed to make me laugh. Thank you Mr schnepp for making the world a brighter place.
Schnepp was the one person I never met in my life whose passing really hurt me. Farewell, buddy #sweatyforlife
Schnepp would have been so honored by this tribute.
Nice to see Amirose again :)
Peter McMann Too bad it had to be due to such awful circumstances.
I am very sorry for your loss Collider. Also the Sinead, David and Josh part gutted me till the end. Jon you were a star bless you man.
This is an awesome community. For anyone who was down this weekend on Schnepp's passing, you weren't alone. All of us will always remember him in spirit and appreciate the joy the king of sweaty truly brought us.
I also want to say that I am in awe of Holly’s strength. I can’t imagine what she is going through, and that she still has the power to laugh and just be there and talk about Jon in front of the camera, that’s just incredible. I have so much respect for that. My heart goes out to her, and to Jon’s other family and friends and also to everyone at Collider. Thank you all for doing this today. This made me laugh and cry, and sometimes both at the same time. But I really appreciate that you all shared so many great personal stories. You are all wonderful people, and I respect every single one of you. And yeah like I said before, I am gonna miss the big man. Keep it sweaty up there Schnepp. 🤟🏻❤️
Schnepp made me cry from laughing multiple times. Rest well, you sweaty legend.
He was a genuine good dude.
One of the few people that made me laugh cry, he will be missed so much.
Mark Ellis was superb hosting this. Class. You all should be proud of this show today.
Man this has hit me hard, as a recently married man I can’t imagine losing my wife. My heart is with Holly and everyone out there who love Schnepp!
I've had similar reactions ever since I got hitched two years ago. Even in films, when committed partners lose one another or are in peril, I feel it so, so much more now than I used to. Of course, the magnitude of that goes up significantly when it's real life, as in this horrible, shocking, tragic, and deeply affecting instance.
I’ve cried this whole movie talk but when David started talking about his dad and John I just broke down. It’s such a hole that is left inside all of us.
Seeing Jeremy vulnerable really got to me, you can tell Schnepp had a true profound affect on everyone who knew him and not everyone can have the luxury of that being their legacy. This video was truly beautiful, thank you.
I definitely teared up again at that point. Great lesson in embracing the people you love in that one.
Props to Mark Ellis for leading the way in this tribute nothing but respect for being able to do this in a moment of tragedy
Beautiful tribute all. RIP Jon Schnepp 💔😢. I’ll always remember his joy over infinity war. This darkly beautiful nerd dream come true and he was a part of it; I’ll definitely check out for of his works. Sending support and strength to u all
Blak thanks man/ I hope he looks down on us enjoying what he gave to the world always
neil Varma I'm gonna miss him
Do not understand why anyone would thumbs down this. Beautiful heartfelt video. Great to see some of those people up there talking about our boy. Even though we didn't know him or work with him he meant a lot to us too. Amazing touching tribute.
Cinema Gulp I hope it’s because they’ll miss him. If not fuck them
Cinema Gulp BC like most ppl, they need something to cry "look at me" about.
Amen
EdgeLord Chads.
TV talk crew- we love u
neil Varma Lotta tears on both sides of the screen during that segment. This will sound stupid -- but I really want Josh to find that damn shirt.
Laura H. Horsfall so do I.. lot of tears right now
I was doing so good with holding my tears until they came on and that was it. Damn it he will and always be missed
Laura H. Horsfall yeah I do too. I held my tears until David G broke down
Laura H. Horsfall
I smile thinking it was Schnepp that took it ;)
This was tough to watch. Been watching since the AMC days. I made it to Josh, David & Sinead, before the tears really came. Rest In Peace Jon. Thank you for sharing your passions with all of us. Stay Sweaty! Hats of to Mark for hosting and keeping it together for the whole thing. I don’t know how he did that.
This is the Movie Talk I needed, Collider. Thank you for the care that went into this and the extra time devoted to celebrating his life. Jon, you wonderful sweaty SOB, you are gone far too soon. The Schnepp legacy, however, is alive and kicking. #RIPJonSchnepp
I still remember the Original Crew. Literally in a tiny room. Jon would Skype in sometimes. Schnepp was with me for so long.
I’m going to buy an extra ticket for Avengers 4 for Schnepp.
TheBongReyes I really like that man!
TheBongReyes I was trying to wipe your profile pic off my screen. lol
afro curly girl me too
That makes three of us
love that!!
I'm going to miss Jon so so much. It still doesn't feel real.
Loved the tribute by Kevin Smith in SDCC.
sephirothgrk Just wondering, you think there'll be a vid of that somewhere? I've not seen it.
try Kevin's twitter
sephirothgrk Thanks, will do
Also the "Tinseltown Stiffs" segment in this weeks Hollywood Babble-On Podcast.
I didn't think a CZcams personalities passing could affect me the way Scnepp's has, I'm gonna miss the hell out of him...
Wow, next to that great man was one great woman. I know us fans wouldn't have all the joy we do from Schnepp's work if not for the support and contributions of Holly. I'm so glad they found each other.
I've NEVER IN MY LIFE EVER CRIED FOR A ACTOR ,SINGER OR ARTIST BUT WOW.....THIS ONE GOT TO ME IM NOT GOING TO LIE. I'VE BEEN WATCHING COLLIDER SINCE 2014. AND IT SUCKS TO SEE HIM GONE....RIP....SWEATY....
Keep waiting to wake up and see him recapping comic con.
jahns segment was beautiful!!!
james levario yeah, that story about there last meeting, just a random goodbye hug... Those things mean a lot!
Before he went to the hospital on instagram he liked a comment of mine. Now before anyone says oh well it's just a like,he took the time to single out something I said and liked it.Its an honor and he seemed like a really good dude and it's very unfortunate that he passed on
Jordan Sherrick that's great
Andre Eli it was a good feeling
Rewatching this it's so sad for the legend I watched him daily on colider and amc back in the day I shed tears everytime I watch this GOD BLESS THE KING OF KINGS LORD OF FAMDOM
Full disclosure - I couldn't stand his politics and sometimes I felt like his comments on the red states were out of line, but honestly it was that edge that made him so enjoyable and fun to watch. He didn't hold anything back and it was awesome.
Just proves that you don't need to agree with someone on everything to enjoy their talent and their gifts - he was a great advocate for those of us who are a little different; for geeks, he was such a perfect rep on everything comics. Is there anything he didn't know about comics and comic films/TV? Jon, I'm gonna miss you - you were a constant part of my weeks and wherever you are, I wish you the best, man.
Schnepp was the main reason I stuck around and watched Collider. Those are some great big sweaty shoes to fill. This channel won't be the same without him. RIP King of the Sweaties!
Jon Schnepp was the highlight of any Collider episode. Rest In Peace. Never met you but will surely miss you. Sweaty for life.
My favorite Schnepp moment was when he lead the Heroes panel into singing The Greatest American Hero theme song. RIP Jon, we’ll miss you.
Favorite Schnepp moments were the super nerd voices he used to do with Ellis
All Out Movies Mine too but I also loved his passionate rants about Transformers and BvS. It was always so good to see how much he really cared about movies.
His super nerd voices were my favorite moments.
Blak No prob! Those hilarious moments made my day.
That super nerd voice was the best thing ever and will miss it dearly =(
The voices were the best.
Props to Mark... This was probably hardest panel to moderate especially for 2hrs...
They should sell some sort of #Schneppies t-shirts with some of his quotes on it, that'd be brilliant for the fundraiser!!
please please please!!!!! Do that and give the money to see hes dreams come to life Schnepp productions
+That is a brilliant idea. Shirts and/or mugs with pics of him and some of his own words that he created. The money going to making his creations come to life and available for us to enjoy would be a beautiful thing and fun too. I would probably buy them all.
Now I gotta find this `Tow Truck Of Terror'.
So glad I got to be a part of this beautiful tribute. Schnepp meant so much to all of us. Sending love to you, sweaties
I miss you, Schnepp, Campea and Krissy from back in the day.Much respect x
I have to say that the Aunt May and Spicy Larry stuff, and that Jar Jar voice he did were some of my favorite Schnepp moments. Love Schnepp. He’s awesome. He will be missed.
Haha yeah I forgot about spicy. He gave us so many amazing moments
Jesus dude spicy larry had me rolling back then
OMG I was laughing so hard when he was saying "Aunt May...…...Aunt Maaaaaay!" (lol)
Still miss him. Wish I could still listen to him for hours talking about all the comic shows since infinity war. He would have loved it
Schnepp's rant on Amazing Spiderman 2 was both funny & legendary at the same time. His knowledge about comics got me to get my kids into Marvel & DC. Rest in peace brother and continue to live in the skys.
What’s the link to the amazing Spider-Man 2 rant haha
Johnathan Prochaska lol. I only remember him ranting about it in the movie talk that took place after the review went up. He was so mad about the movie. Try looking it up through the CZcams search bar.
Jeremy Jahns' little tribute was tough to watch. I can tell how much the two of them got along and really loved working together.
Thank you.
Ellis the Pro, I was an MC for years... Mad respect.
Jahns first made me cry.
David Griff made me want to hug him through my screen.
Sinead right after.
Macuga's story was beautiful and us Natives believe that was Schnepp in the Thunderstorm.
Hernandez's honesty was beautiful. His appearance on Jedi Council and this made me an instant fan.
Holly... You are an inspiration.
Thanks to All in the crew.
Thanks to the fellow Sweaties.
I been here 4 years now. Several names, same attitude. Always been honest, but quick to talk shit and be a Sidious to conflict. No more.
Time to Unite In Sweat.
All Dork Love From Here On.
For Schnepp.
For You.
For Me
#StaySweaty
One of the funniest dude I’ve ever watched period. I can still remember the AMC days with Campea, Dennis and Amy. Dude will never be replaced. The sweat that came from this man, is the reason I’m into comics history, movies and shows. One of the funniest bits was the spicy Larry bit. That bit right there is pure gold my boy. The diversity issues and social issues were really inspiring. Thanks for all you have done for the sweaty community. May God bless this man family & friends. May you rest in paradise my man. You will never be forgotten. Long live the memories, the laughs, the love and also the sweat. We love ❤️ you big time! Sweat on my brotha and may the force be with you!
ken mcghee SPICY LARRY will remain my favorite moment from Schnepp. Along with AUNT MAY.
I never met the man, but I want to be more like John Schnepp.
My favorite moment of his on Movie Talk was when he made fun of the title of the animated film “The Nut Job Nutty by Nature”... idk why but I couldn’t stop laughing that day and for some reason it is the perfect moment to describe who he was as a part of the Collider family for me.
Vincent Knight The Nut Job 3: Around The Rim 😆😆😆
Literally crying ya have no idea how much Jon impacted my life.
It was a struggle not to be teary-eyed watching this...I can't imagine being in their position actually talking out loud about schnepp in front of other people, especially holly. RIP King of the Sweaties
When David, Jeremy, and Roth spoke, I lost it. You did a wonderful job, Mark. I hope you know how appreciated you are in all of this having to conduct these difficult videos addressing the passing of Schnepp.
Almost broke me seeing Sinead like that. I've been watching since AMC Movie Talk & you feel like you truly get to know these ppl to some extent & it upset me more than I expected (since I was preparing for it after I heard about the stroke). R.I.P. Schnepp, the way you impacted ppl is proof of the virtue you possessed as a human being.
Schnepp greatness
Great job Mark Ellis. A true professional.
I really miss the TV Talk crew. David Griffin straight up broke me. I never tear up but when he started I felt that loss having lost people you can only empathise
You are a class act Mark Ellis. What a great job you did honoring Jon Schnepp.
SWEATIES UNITE!!!!! Rest in Peace Schnepp!
Whether your TeamMarvel, like me..StarWars, Xmen, DC.. no matter what flag you fly - its at half staff, mourning..but when its time to fly those flags again we can fly them a little higher because of John Schnepp. This guy made you love - what ever you love even More - what kind of Magnificent power is that?
I feel like I lost a uncle, sweat in peace jon
I'm going to repeat myself, but only because I want you to know how important not only Jon was, but all of you in my life.
I started watching MovieTalk and Schmoes in early 2014. That's how I discovered a real programming that fits my tastes on youtube, and I never watched TV again. Especially because I didn't know almost anyone who shared my Sweatiness where I live. You guys became my daily routine and never stopped being so. Jon was a big part of that, and he helped me to accept and be proud of my Sweatiness. I'll always remember crying with laughter to the shit rats, tony ravioli, his reaction to the Santa's daughter movie, his review of Transformers on the Schmoes Show, etc... Thanks for the laughs and the memories. You will be missed and remembered for ever. To his family and friends in Collider, My condolences, love and appreciation from Argentina... Keep moving forward.
Jon is travelling trough the Multiverse and the fourth world all the way to Valhala! #RipJonSchenpp
RIP Schnepp you are going to be missed I miss you so much. I loved watching Collider Heroes every Monday and Wednesday because of Schnepp. I loved his attitude and personality he was such a smart caring passionate person. I had the honor of meeting Schnepp at the Long Beach comic con in 2016 he was so cool just super nice. I got to take a picture with Schnepp and I bought his movie the death of superman lives what happened on blu ray witch he signed.Out of all the Comic Cons I've been to that con where I got to meet schnepp is going to be my favorite con moment ever. RIP my sweaty friend it sucks that you're gone but now you're getting sweaty in heaven thank you for everything.
Blak Thanks
*BestEpisodeEver* Today it was the first time I found it hard to watch movie talk today. Thinking of Jon and not being able to see him on the panel and Heroes especially heroes. That being said Seeing old friends like *Alicia Malone*, *AmiroseEisenbach*, *Wendy Lee Szanny*, *Steven Weintraub*, *TheTVTalkCrew*, Hi Sinead miss you girl and Mr. David Griffith Miss you too, and The WildMan love ya brother and everybody that loved him and his spirit. I just got to say I soooo miss and love Jon Schnepp. He was on my bucket list on the most influential people I would like to meet. I guess if I happen and blessed to go to heaven. I hope Next to my Grandmother and Father, I meet him. We all will live for you. Like Jared Leto's Joker told Harley and Sweat for you like you did for all of us. I speak for myself when I say. You were the gentlest giant and the realest true nerd I've ever seen. Holly as soon as I get paid I got you. *SweatiesForever*
*Rest In Paradise*
*Sunrise* May 16, 1967
*Sunset* July 19, 2018.
See you later, Jon 😇
I'm so sorry for Jon Schnepp and the rest of crew of AMC and now Collider days.
Props to Mark Ellis for getting through that whole show. You did such a great job.
Josh and David getting me Emotional.
Jon Schnepp lifted me up countless times when I was down, and felt shit about my life.I will miss him forever.Ret easy Legend.
Seeing Amirose back to pay tribute warmed my heart so much on this somber and sad day.
I feel like Jon saved my life. Living with depression diagnosed, alcohol abuse at s too young age, attempting to take my life, I feel like Jon reminded me that my childhood DC fanatic sweatiness is still in me. More than ever. That these things that we embrace be it comic books, superheroes, horror & everything he loved, he reminded me of that within me & I feel like I knew him. Being all the way in Scotland, I still hoped that in future I could one day meet him to give him a hug & just sweat out our love of DC, Kirby, just everything. I feel like I knew/know him. I felt a part of me died hearing the news over the weekend, knowing he made me feel alive by bringing it out of me in a way that he only he understood.
The rat face between Jon & Kristian always got me. There are just too many wonderful moments with Jon.
Will miss him. Heroes won’t be the same without him. The world won’t be the same without him.
Heroes should rebrand itself as "Jon Schnepp's Heroes"
This was the best tribute to Jon Schnepp #KingOfTheSweaties. I have to say the emotional moments were with David Griffin and the TV talk Panel. I started crying as well when they were crying. When Robin Williams passed away I was just speechless and I have that same reaction just being speechless, loss of words with Schnepp. It was really nice of Henry Cavill, Mike Colter, and Simone Missick paying their respects to Jon Schnepp. Schnepp interviewing Simone Missick for Luke Cage Season 2 was my favorite interview.
I remember watching everyday the holy trinity Campea, Amyrose and Schnepp. Thank you for the good laughs Jon
Hearing everybody talk about how awesome Schnepp was makes me want to be a better person. If I died tomorrow, would people have this much awesome memories to share about me? Perhaps not, but I'm definitely gonna work on that. RIP Schnepp.
#RIPSCHNEPP You were truly 1 of a kind #Sweaty4Life
Christopher Woodburn
#StaySweaty indeed brother!
100% legit, I had not cried this much for someone I had never met in person since Carrie Fisher died... the good ones always leave us too soon... watching Movie Talk almost daily, every time Schnepp was on it was just better. I'm not much of an avid comic book reader, but I just loved watching Heroes just to hear him talk about this stuff... Seeing all these trailers coming out of SDCC and knowing he would've loved them is just heartbreaking... I can't imagine how his friends and family are feeling right now... lots of love to all of you
Props to Collider for setting this up, this was lovely, emotional, and definitely needed for us fans. I hope i see another video of Collider heroes panelist doing the same thing i.e. ( RMB, Amy Dallen, Coy & Markeia) And for Heroes, I hope Collider renames the show to Schnepp"s Heroes or something to that extent, something. As for the the candidate to replace him as the host, as hard as it is, it needs to be someone close to schnepp, not just someone who knows comic book movies, my pick would be Amy Dallen, Robert meyer burnett or John campea (IF he wants to).
RIP Schnepp, you are the sole reason why i went from liking CMB to loving them, you will be missed. Love from Malaysia
I loved AMC Rewind so much! Rest in Peace Jon.
Goblin Smith I miss Rewind...
Because of that show I watched Gene Hackman's The Conversation and it was a hidden gem for me. Especially because of the sound design.
I don't remember when i became a big Schnepp fan, all i know is that i couldn't miss a video that he was a part of. His passion was so infectious! I learned a lot about behind the scenes stuff, comics, and just life in general just from watching his content. I can only imagine what it must've been like to work in the same office with him. My heart still hurts and I feel for his friends and family. The #KingOfSweat will never be forgotten. He's one of a kind.
I really hope Josh finds that shirt!
We love you! We miss you! We support you & Holly! Rest In Peace Jon 🙏🏾 our Sweaty 👑 🤘🏾
Also my condolences to everyone at Collider. I understand you didn't just lose a co-worker but a friend.
After I watched this I closed my laptop and there I saw the Dr. Strange stickers I stuck on there. I would have never put those on if it wasn’t for Schnepp lighting up a fire of interest in comics and film within me. Guy had a big impact on me.
This Movie Talk episode is a great example of the phrase of a “celebration of life”. This episode was all memories, love, life, laughs, tears and respect. Still, my thoughts and prayers go out to Holly and the Schnepp family and to the Collider community.
RIP Jon Schnepp.
Social media and the internet is weird. I watched/listened Jon 4+ days a week for over five years. I never met him, yet it feels like I knew him. His positivity and passion for everything "sweaty" was inspiration. His impact on the online fan community is forever. Rest easy dude!
Shnepp was the reason i.liked movie talk so much. Thank you john and my thoughts are with your family and friends.
One moment that sticks out for me was when Schnepp and Ashley Mova were singing the lion king song on an episode of movie talk, it was a silly moment of innocent fun and I am always reminded it of when that movie starts to play
you would think that a person that works a shitty cubicle job that he hates, and is always frustrated and has high bad stress levels and high blood pressure, would end to suffer something like this, not a such positive and lighthearted man.... its dam shame.. loved his innocent attitude like enthusiasm towards all entertainment and towards people... will miss him... RIP Jon...
MR Dot1 nobody deserves that
Adrian Ventura
i was saying you would not be surprised if the person i described would have suffered this instead of him.....
MR Dot1 and I’m saying it still would be a surprise because nobody deserves that
Adrian Ventura really? What kind of a virtue signaling SJW you must be, to harp on something that i did not say... I told that "you" would not wonder in case of a person that i discribed, cuz of the well known and scientificly well documented health risks... But no you have to even double down with no one deserves that which is pointless cuz i never stated such thing... And now you managed to make me a dush.. under a video and topic that did not deserved that...
MR Dot1 seems like you’re trying to make me a dush. And I said I would still wonder because who’s to say that person in that scenario isn’t healthy? So again I would still be surprised if that person went the same way.
The Greatest Super Hero Collider has ever spoken about. RIP brother.
