I used to go to games in the early 90’s where you would buy nose bleed seats and you could walk all the way down to the regular seats and sit down. You could count the number of people there in five minutes.
And then something insane happened in 1995… Griffey got injured and that just felt like it was over… and suddenly… they started winning…. And winning… and winning…
My family went to so many games! And when the tie breaker came, my dad and brother stood in line for three hours for a ticket lottery to try to get the chance to buy a ticket for the Division Tie-Breaker against the Angels. They got tickets and we went to see the Mariners DESTROY the Angels! It was insane… the energy that day. You couldn’t hear yourself think… Strangers were high-fiving and hugging each other.
The Lois Sojo inside the park grand slam was just…. It was unreal…
    Core memories.

On ALL of my comments, it reflects that I was born in 1973 in Seattle. On my own accord, I'd CHOOSE the Center Field Bleachers for $1.50. The Ojisan for the $3.00 seats in center and left field down below, would let me down there "because he thought I was buying an Icee." I'd hang there, and there used to be partitions separating the $3.00 lower level general admission, and the $6.50 Bench Box Seats. There was, in the WAY back, this hole, that at 10-11, I could fit through. One usher saw me in the $3.00 seats, and when the game ended, he saw me running FROM the $6.50 section, and he had this What the heck look on his face!

It was so much fun living in the Seattle area during this time. It really was magical

In 1983-84, I remember on the Third Base side of Bench Box Seats, a nice African-American gentleman with glasses, would sell his crate of Dixie Cups. "Chocolate Ice Cream!" He would call out. Two innings later, his crate was empty! I asked him, "You sold ALL of those?" He said "Yes!" Bless his heart, I hope he got to enjoy 1995, 2001, and even 2022. See, the thing is, if he was even 25 when I was 10, he would have been 64 in 2022 when I was 49, and there's no guarantee he's still with us (I sure hope he is, but we've been seeing so many people leaving us too soon). I used to buy a box of Dots for 85 cents, each game!

Keep in my my PERSPECTIVE, in all of my comments: Born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Male. Japanese-American. So, I was 10 in 1983, and came for giveaways like Helmet WEEKEND (usually against the Royals, coincidentally), Rag Ball Day. Jim Presley, Spike Owen, and Jack Picante were our "heroes," because that's all we knew. I was a stiff who didn't have Cable TV. Phil Bradley and Ken Phelps were also my "heroes."

The King Dome was falling apart so much that you were scared to even cheer at the games. It was silent clapping haha
