I remember my Dad picking up this VHS from a special display stand at Eagle Hardware & Garden the following year and watching it over & over until I'd memorized every moment and then trying in the backyard to recreate all these great plays. Great times.
I was 12 years old lived in Seattle, this was the most exciting time for Seattle baseball fans! Our first trip to the playoffs ever (nearly 20 years). I used to have this on VHS and I watched it so many times I know it word for word! 😄 We are the only ML team who still hasn't won a World Series! Since we started in 1977 not one Championship! The Seahawks killing the Broncos in 2014 was our first Championship for Seattle...Besides the Supersonics winning in the 70's but that was before my time. 😆😁
I can't count how many time I've seen this. Till I die I'll be a Mariners fan. I'll never band wagon I'll stay with my team since I was a child. Mariners fan for life!!!
Thank god I was 11/12 this season. Perfect age to make some amazing memories. Went to 40+ games this season. Was there for the Angels 1 game playoff and Game 5. Still vivid as if it happened yesterday. Probably the happiest time of my childhood. Go M’s
This team and the 1993 Phillies are the most memorable teams of the last 30 years that didn't win the World Series. Or, at least, in my opinion they are.
The entire season was amazing and memorable. I went to several games at the Dome, including every playoff game. The Yankee series was the greatest series in baseball history. Nobody will ever convince me there was ever a series - even any World Series - that matched this one for drama, great games, record-breaking individual performances, great comebacks, extra-inning magic… etc. etc. And how many huge-name Hall of Fame players were involved?! Randy, Junior, Edgar, Don Mattingly, Wade Boggs, (rookie) Mariano Rivera, and I imagine I’m forgetting one or two more. I think that if the Ms win the World Series, I will celebrate hard and be very happy, but I cannot imagine that even winning it all could feel as good that did. October 8, 1995 was the most deliriously, joyful celebration, ever in my life. I will never forget it. Oh… I didn’t forget. Dave. The great Dave Niehaus. The call of The Double came from the legendary voice of Dave. It is the greatest ten seconds in sports broadcasting history. And yes, Dave is in the Hall of Fame. 🙂
“Eagle Hardware and Garden a corporate partner of the Seattle Mariners. Is proud to bring you these exciting 1995 season highlights. In a season you thought would never end. The Mariners just like Eagle. Gave you more of EVERYTHING!! Now sit back, relax, and relive the magical Mariner ride!”
I had 3 vhs tapes I would run on repeat every day, Toy Story, Charlie Browns Halloween, and this. Despite being born in 96 this gets me to tears up everytime
The September 22nd game vs the A's with the Vince Coleman grand slam where we came back to win I was at that game with my dad. We were in the upper deck and I remember jumping up and down on my seat losing my mind the place was going bonkers probably one of my favorite childhood memories.
Used to have this on 📼 growing up. Watched it so many times but still just as entertaining as the 1st time. Can still hear the call on Edger Martinez's double..."Griffey is coming around"!!
Thank you just looking for stuff like this need some comfort watching the news is just wearing me down. My Oh My! Miss you Dave! Got this for Christmas back in 95 have since lost, seriously again, thank you.
I was 18yrs old at "The 1 game playoff" against the Angels. It was so electrifying & loud when Soto hit that ball fair into the right side bench area & made it 5-0 in the 7th. When "The big unit" got the final strikeout & we won....EVERYBODY started climbing & jumping down onto the field. I made it out to the pitcher's mound & broke off a chunk of it where i still have it to this day! Then ran out to center field and "jumped" up on the wall like "The kid" did so many times. Great memories!
It must’ve been disappointing as hell though when they ultimately fell to the Indians though . I go back and forth over if this is worse than how 2001 ended
Thanks for posting. Havent seen it in forever but was in a goodwill today and had the tape in hand only to drop it and basically snap the thing in half. Disappointed, would have been a good collectible item
I got to see a game in this season. We were visiting my grandparents (my mom's parents) and we decided to go to a ball game. It was a good game. I can't remember who they were playing, I just remember how different the stadium was in person compared to only seeing it on TV. My grandpa worked at the gates for them, so he got us tickets. I remember it was a game where Dan Wilson won it for us on a walk off home run. The fireworks in the Kingdome were LOUD.
I just read an article on angels website about luis sojo and 95 angels collapse! Even the losing teams wanna remember these guys and the magic that changed present day seattle to what it is today, the city the 95 mariners built!
I'm Griffey's age so it was very sweet to see Seattle superstars of the same generation like The Kid, Reign Man & The Glove take steps in the 90s toward legendary status in the Pacific Northwest! For the M's, it could not have happened at a better time as the 1995 ALDS vs Yankees became one of the greatest playoff series of them all, rivaling the Reds/Red Sox WS of '75 (20 years prior). Edgar's double became in essence the game, the hit, and the run (scoring Griffey) that saved MLB in Seattle. And sorry to say but NO World Series appearance or future Championship will ever quite top what the M's did in 1995. And that's why Martinez has a street named after him & Griffey has a statue at the ballpark. Nothing else needs to be said. It's become legendary & forever! And I saw it unfold at the ripe age of 26. And all the M's players & talent of the past finally got to see the franchise accomplish something like never before.
I make a habit of watching this every year before the beginning of the season. Tears come to my eyes every time it shows The Double, and at czcams.com/video/qMzJsmTkkB4/video.html as this was the end of my first ever MLB game. This video helps me remember how big of a part baseball is in my life, and forever will be.

As much as I love this era Mariners, 1994 was Montreal's title to lose. Pedro, Larry Walker, Cliff Floyd, Moises Alou, Marquis Grissom, Ken Hill, John Wetteland....that team was stacked.
I dunno, I feel like ATL would've steamrolled us. Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz against Randy and a bunch of punchless wonders. We were weak in that matchup, big time. But hey, stranger things have happened.
It's laughable that people are comparing the 2022 "wildcard" run to this year. Nowhere close. It was the year that made me a mariners fan for life....moved away from seattle in late october 1995
@@RB01.10 but it's all good, once they missed the playoffs again this year, they will go ahead and brag about their 14 game winning streak so much they'll put up a banner over it and possibly make another you got to love these guys pat on the back videos

I was 14. Perfect age group for sure!
i get so emotional watching this. sesttle mariners, dave niehaus. my oh my. perfect. 🙌🏻

I'm a diehard Oakland A's fan, but man I remember visiting family in Seattle (university place), that summer. What a fun team to watch. I was only 7.
Thank you for sharing this. I owned this on VHS way back in the day but haven't found it until today.
Who is here after the Mariners clinched a playoff berth for 2022?
A fun season, if nothing else this generation of the team has a playoff team.
This was such a fun year. Been a fan since I was 4 years old in 84' and I still love coming back to watch these old vids.

And THAT is why Griffey has a statue dedicated to him in Seattle.
Never should of left. Ownership should of ponied up and kept the Big Unit and A-Rod. 01 ends in a ring

Bought this on VHS at Eagle Hardware after watching the whole season on TV. What a good year, and time to be alive.
We had it so good w/ this team and these announcers.
SO GLAD to see this online! I watched this so many times growing up - I missed it. I was hoping someone had converted it to digital media!
Thank you for catching the intro with the baseball sailing over Mt. Rainier and the classic music!! Why don't they bring this back?

Fun fact for you. Vince Coleman hit 1 grand slam in his career and it was on his birthday and you witnessed it. Very cool

Yeah I may need to download this one. I was 16 at the time and was jumping on my bed, screaming at Joey and Griffey to run like hell. Such a fun year.
This was an amazing run to win the division, and the series vs. the Yankees is legendary.
How many M's fans are watching this again, because their playoff push right now??! -- just to remember anything is possible
oh yeah baby, see you at the series
Still didn’t happen:(
The year that saved baseball in Seattle..... that itself is as big as a world series to me
Saved?
LOL
They haven’t done squat since 2001 and still haven’t won the big one
I don’t know why they haven’t left yet now
Thank you for posting this!!! I watched this so many times growing up lol 👏👏
Watching this makes me ball. I believe ❤️ this recent run is for you papa! We’re going to the series. Let's go boys!!!!
Damn this team had a solid hart of the order. Griffey, Edgar Martinez, Buhner, and Tino Martinez holy shit.
+James Forcum Randy johnson, Jamie Moyer, Dan wilson there were so many greats!
+Travis Tonn If you had Felix then you probably win the World Series
That team had such a bad rotation outside of Randy. If they had some decent pitchers maybe they could've made to the WS.
Adam Kraabel this was before Felix!
Uhh duh I know that, I was saying they were lacking in pitching other than Johnson
Thank you just looking for stuff like this need some comfort watching the news is just wearing me down. My Oh My! Miss you Dave! Got this for Christmas back in 95 have since lost, seriously again, thank you.

I was at game 3 and 4 against the Yanks. I still remember how insane the crowd was.
Watching this in preparation for the final 10 games of the 2023 season. Hope this comment ages well, the division title is in sight. Get it, boys.

Great video! I remember that season. Thanks! Love from Portland. ✌🍻🚬
