    Impresionate! O cara é demais! Creio que os negros tem muitos motivos para se orgulharem, mas a sonoridade e acidez política de Fela Kuti é de profundidade irreparável.
    Música e questões sociais nunca casaram tão bem. Muito Bom! This guy is really good!

    James Brown and Fela actually met (watch Fela's documentary). Fela spent time in the USA with African Americans in the late 60's early 70's. They influenced each other I'm sure. It's all African music whether its coming from the US or Africa.

    black people actually have the best skin because, when they have a mark or a bruise it blends in and its hard to tell, they have glowing skin, its much harder to tell a black person age, if a black man is 60 you may think he is 40, but with white people they age faster due to geological climate, when a white person has a bruise the mark appears red all over the face, they have it worse, because the marks appear and stand out more noticeble, I thank god everyday for the skin I have

    when fela sings about "bleaching",he talks about our shrewd politicians who try to convert black to white by all means necessary; he's indirectly referring to the pretentious nature of our leaders, i don't think he is referring to bleaching literarilly.

    @ladysay3 reminds me of a saying i picked up 30 years ago man is a fool, when its hot he wants it cool, when its cold he wants it hot, he always wants something he hasnt got. in fact i know that is not exactly true. he has been conditioned to be that way. 400 years of conditioning calls into question who has done the conditioning. white folk have always tanned but black folk have not always bleached.

  • @Taagama
    @Taagama Před 16 lety

    Kululu00. Nigerian men were among the first to bleach their skin, long time before the congolese got into it. Why do u think Fela was already singing about it in the 70s? Anyway, I basically agree with your opinion on the matter. It is shameful and incomprehensible.

    @truthadvance whose missing the point?? that is what i think i said.. but black people do have a mind of their own. we make choices even through conditoning... in this song fela isnt talking specifically about europeans but about the behaviors of black africans, nigerians specifically.... white folk aren't the once's bleaching... its black people and black people have minds that are capable of free thought like anyone else. we buy into bullshit! and make that bullshit our reality.

    I wouldn't blame it on capitalism. When the imperial powers invaded our africa, the closer you were to white, in terms of dressing, speaking, skin color, the better you were. It's a shame that we became brain washed/white washed. We have adopted all the european ideals, while they disregard all ours. It hurts me when I hears someone make fun of another for being "too black."
