    That's true for a tourist if you want to move inside Ciudad de Panamá UBER is the best option; because taxis will take advantage to the tourist condition and they will try to take more money from you because their rides prices are not regulated by law. Hoping next year the L2 metro extention to airport will done and tourist and airport workers could take a cheaper and better transport service. Grettings from Panamá.

      100% UBER. Taxis are convenient but we overpaid the first night we were there and UBER the rest of the time.. The metro and transit is pretty good in Panama. Hopefully we are back soon! Thanks for watching =)

      I have never had a problem with taxis, even when first visited years ago with nil Spanish. Just agree a price for the trip before hand, and if you don't like it walk away - there are hoards of other taxis everywhere!

    Just 2 things to know:
    1. The same card you use for the bus is able to be use in the metro train.
    2. By February of 2021, there will be a new extension of the metro train directly to the Tocumen airport, so you won't need to take a taxi or bus from the airport. You may do the same for coming back to the airport.
    Good video. I like it!!

      Hey thanks! That new extension to the airport should a game changer. I always feel airports where taxi drivers bombard you the minute you pass customs super annoying and gives a bad first impression.

      Thank you for this info - does that also mean there is now an opportunity to buy a transit card at the airport, before boarding a bus or a train?

    1. There IS a place where you can purchase a transit card at the airport. No need to borrow a swipe from a nice Panamanian. 2. Regular taxi drivers WILL rip you off. 3. In early 2021 you will be able to walk straight into an airport Metro station and ride it into the city for just 50 cents ;)

    • @youtubebydoug
      @youtubebydoug  Před 4 lety

      Did not know this! Where in the airport can you buy a transit card?? The minute we cleared customs we were chased down by taxi drivers!

    • @guillermogouldburn763
      @guillermogouldburn763 Před 4 lety

      @@youtubebydoug You can buy the transit card in the car- rental section, street level. Taxi drivers will NEVER tell you this, of course. And when the airport metro station is functional, don't let them tell you horror stories about it just to get you in their taxi to RIP YOU OFF. The Metro is SAFE, RELIABLE, and CHEAP!

      The Metro extension has been delayed by the pandemic but should done soon, I think. They have also started a new monorail extension to the Metro system heading in the other direction from the City across the river/Canal

    Is there always an elevator in the metro station if you’re not good at balancing? In the escalator you have too much luggage to balance it yourself? Thanks advance for the information.
