- Drake Bell joins me today to discuss the aftermath of the release of Quiet on Set: the documentary that shook the world, that exposed the dark side of kids tv. Drake tells us where he stands with his family today (his lovely dad, mom, ex and child), what his future goals are, how he’s doing with his sobriety, if he has any knowledge about how Amanda Bynes is doing, and more.
TW: This interview contains references to CSA and psychological abuse.

This was so awful to watch. Drake handled with grace.
I think it’s really important to do research on a guest before the initial interview. She didn’t really know much about anything lol. He just came out with a new single, his career in the past, his career now, etc. I think doing the research would’ve prevented such uncomfortable, generalized and repetitive questions.
Love Drake, hated the interviewer. Super invasive and not empathetic
She seems so uninterested in doing the interview😒
This was more like an interrogation than interview. Props to Drake for handling it well though 🫶
The insensitivity from the interviewer is unbelievable. I feel so sorry for Drake. WOW. 💔
How not to interview someone about a sensitive subject 101. She kept leading her questions with her own assumptions about how he was feeling on the matter instead of just asking a question and letting him speak to it. He had to keep correcting her assumptions and defending his position instead of getting to share new information or speak to just the question.
She came off ill informed, insensitive and like all she cared about was the “tea” about his personal life. It felt invasive and there was such a disconnect. I have enjoyed listening to all the podcasts he has done but this one felt like a wasted opportunity.
I like how Drake handled it, though. You can tell that he was keeping an open mind and more level headed as he progresses to move on and feel more comfortable talking about his experience.
@@WYATTBENDER he was clearly thoughtful and articulate in his replies. I just hated that he had to spend most of his replies addressing her assumptions and opinion on it instead of just being able to answer the question that was asked. He carries himself well in all the podcasts/interviews I have seen so far.
I honestly don't think she actually knows HOW to have a deep conversation with someone that's this sensitive without being inappropriate or making it awkward. This was a really bad interview. I felt so bad for Drake throughout this thing for having to deal with her line of questioning and for just making things really uncomfortable. I agree, it definitely came across like she was more interested in tea than anything else and she seemed so bored and disinterested when she felt she wasn't getting it.
The goal of these types of interviews where people are discussing something really sensitive and traumatic that happened to them should be to make them feel as comfortable as humanly possible to trust you and to share things with you and hey, in doing so maybe they'll end up sharing things in your interview that they haven't shared in others. But you can't just go into an interview like this with the sole purpose of getting "scoops" or "tea" and completely abandon the responsibility of making them feel comfortable enough to trust you, or else they'll feel like you don't care about them or their pain and will be more closed off. Drake, though, handled this with a lot of grace and I hope that he doesn't do less interviews about his own story because of how bad and uncomfortable this one was.
@@cupcake9483exactly, if you want to see how it’s done right check out the interview Drake did with Yordi, that man showed such compassion and respect and make him feel safe. You also learn a lot of new details that the documentary didn’t cover and that he clearly felt comfortable enough to share.
Showing my support to Drake Bell. He is a kind man who made mistakes but he took responsability for them, people should forgive him and move on. Also, take in account that most of the acusations were false and it was proven in court. I am a recent fan and the main reason was because seeing him overcoming all those difficulties inspire me to go to therapy. I admire his resilience and strength and his music help me healing. Drake YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Keep moving forward. Mexico feels you, you are one of the good ones.
Yes!! I'm a recent fan too. I loved Drake and Josh but never really know much about Drake Bell. After watching him on quiet on set and all these interviews and now listening to his music, I am really becoming a big fan. Drake has amazing talent and seems like such a sweet person, I really admire the way he is in these interviews.
There was some good questions in this interview talking about his perspective as a father. However, asking about his ex I feel isn't really appropriate or relevant to his story in terms of QOS.
I also understand that if he didn't want to answer the question he wouldn't but I think you can ask better questions to gain more insight about a person than to ask about relationships etc.
This was an awful interview omg.
So many questions could've been asked:
Why didn't you ask about music? he wrote the theme to drake and josh at FIFTEEN?
He was touring while still on the Amanda Show
What was his favourite skits or ep of Drake and Josh to film?
What does he want his son Wyatt to get from the doc & would Drake support a career in the industry?
What kind of legislation does he want to see from QOS?
What can you say to other victims of Brian Peck afraid to come forward?
How has therapy helped him?
What is he watching/listening to these days?
Omg girly...you missed the mark big time.
I just want to say that all of your questions are so good and now I'm really sad that these questions didn't get asked at all
The only other questions I would have added to that was to bring up his latest music video and ask him about the line where he said that people in the states had forgotten about him or didn't want to hear him and how he found love in Mexico. Also asking him about his current relationship with his father and if he told his father before the docuseries. Lastly I would have asked him why he thought his mom left him around Brian Peck and didn't listen to his dad (idk if there's a sensitive way to ask).
No, she’d rather ask questions that are none of her business. Made me so mad listening to this. Like, is she aware how inappropriate and invasive it is
Your ideas for questions are great!! I also would have asked are you spiritual? Do you believe in God? If so, how has that helped you in your healing? God bless. 🙏❤️🙏
For his mother to be blaming herself, or his dad wishing he'd done more, or even for Drake to wonder if he could have done something to prevent this from happening would be them holding themselves responsible for the evil actions of someone else. That man is responsible and I only wish for Drake and his family to find healing and peace
Wow what an awful job done by the interviewer 🤦🏾♀️
You could be constructive you know. There's always some positives.
@@beckscald3855 Name a positive about this interviewer.
@@maryhoffman3037 well she did show empathy at points and she did say to him "if it's okay to ask." She was still respectful even if some of the questions were less relevant.
At least give her ways to improve. Is there a technique you know about which may help? Just saying someone is bad doesn't help them improve.
@@beckscald3855 The tone of one's voice plays a huge role in effective communication. She came off as both condescending and disinterested. It did not seem as if she was well-prepared, either. She asked questions that Drake has already been asked in other interviews, especially in Quiet On Set. She did not bring a fresh perspective to this interview.
@@maryhoffman3037 I agree she didn't bring a fresh perspective. You do realise though most people in the public eye get asked the same questions e.g an actor promoting a movie. They all get asked the same questions about the movie.
this interview energy was weird asf lmfao and felt alil dissociative
There was another interview he did like a short while ago that felt MUCH more genuine. Idk, with some of the weird ass questioning too that this person was asking....you'd think this girl was from TMZ.
This is exactly what I was trying to put into words
youre talking about yordi right? he was amazing@@SomeRandomHobo44
it just feels awkward to me theres no like bright and happy conversation, I now alot of the topics aren't like that however in other interviews it's like that where as this is just low vibes from both parties!
She seemed devoid of emotion, of a soul.😳 A little pushing is fine, but on topics like this you also need to be gentle and have compassion. I think there could have been a lot more interesting angles to take the interview, as well.
Ps, Drake... what's with the overalls my man?🤣
So…. I came to the comments looking for someone else who picked up on this. Her over all affect is very flat!!! Honestly… I’ve interviewed over medicated psychotic patients that were more appropriately in touch with reality.
@@erinpassaretti3562yeah I feel like I've seen her interview reality guest stars and she seemed way more into it.
Lool not the overalls
She supports Israel’s bombing of Gaza says it all
This wasn't a formal tv interview, so there was no need to wear a suit and tie. If he wanted to comfortable, he can dress comfortably.
Wondering if the interviewer wanted to do this interview at all . Terrible energy coming from her, down to her almost condescending questioning.
I think it’s a band wagon thing. A lot of people are jumping on the Quiet on Set Train right now. Hosts want to interview anyone they can just to be on the train of relevancy
This woman is too invasive. Thank you Drake for dealing with this, love ya
This Interviewer is actually terrible. So many invasive questions and such an uncomfortable awkward vibe.
Drake is being so nice, open and diving deep into his trauma and struggles yet she doesn't seem to acknowledge anything he says and literally goes on her phone whilst he's talking too. Check 34:38 It's actually so disrespectful, why would you even interview someone if you haven't got any interest in them except for getting clicks on CZcams.
She clearly hasn't researched anything about him as she's asking questions that have been answered a while ago.
It's actually horrible how she communicates with Drake here in such an unbothered manner as well as talking about his ex wife so much and anything to make him look bad or feed headlines.
Drake is such a nice guy in this and clearly she's just here for clicks and content rather than talking to him like a genuine person.
This interview is awkward with her. She doesn’t seem engaged. Drake has shown courage and this will help others who have gone through similar things.
He is forgiven for all he has done. People need to stop bringing up his past and what he did. Like you all are perfect. He already knows he messed up. He deserves a new beginning moving forward
And what hurts is that he got defamed and blamed for something he didn't even do to.
There are receipts that show he beat the shit out of at least two of his ex-girlfriends, one of whom was a minor still in school when he started dating her, and the other whom later went on to end her life because of the hurt Drake caused her. Drake has never faced any repercussions for this, and has never atoned nor apologised. He was also more recently caught using drugs in a confined car with a baby--his own child. All is not forgiven for any man who endangers babies & women.
@@pendafen7405 Where are you hearing this stuff from?
@@Du-yw1pz it's all public domain and has been for many years. Look up Melissa Lingafelt and Stevie Ryan in conjunction with Drake's name.
How she has a huge following just proves how dumb this world is 😂
I’ve never read something so true :/ we are done for.
Showing support to Drake Bell. Prayers for healing and peace 🙏🏼🤍
She did not do a good job at interviewing him
i hated this, she doesn't even follow up on what he is sharing, and he is sharing stuff about SA and a traumatic event! she just keeps on reading her invasive question sheet. This is insane it almost looks like she isn't paying attention, Drake always so professional in these interviews, god bless and i hope these dumb interviewers stop overwhelming him.
38:57 That's why he needs to write a memoir with the truth about that sh*tty case. False allegations made a lot of damage and many people are still believing it.
what a waste of an interview - drake deserved a better interview
Her body language says "I don't want to do this interview, I couldn't care less about whatever is being said but I'm still doing it for relevancy" I particularly hated her hand gestures which are the same people do in school and give off "I just wanna go home I don't care about what the teacher is saying". 😒
I support drake and I hope his career will do great. Also I'm very interested in the Nickelodeon stories being told. I can't keep watching this video for more than 20 minutes. The "interviewer" manages to ruin even that for me.
Never was a Drake fan. I'm defending him because I do think it was a mistake and poor judgment. I think he lacks boundaries and how to act professionally because he worked with adults who made sex jokes when he was a kid. I do believe in second chances. He's trying to be a better person, unlike other celebrities who just blame it on trauma and keep repeating. Drake is getting help and taking action on his behavior to be better. Now if he messes up and repeats it, I'll admit I was wrong. But I'm going to give him a chance.
The girl lied. There was nothing sexual. Her impacted statement was new to the court, and she changed her story many times. Her aunt and friends all stated she was never alone with him. He blocked her as soon as he found out her real age. The girl was also stalking his ex-wife. Once she found out he was married and blocked her, she started making false accusations. All he did was text her something inappropriate. Everyone on the internet is guilty of it. I have seen it a million times: adults saying inappropriate things to kids. I've seen grown-ass adults call kids ugly, fat, tell them they're pretty, and ask when they will be 18. Teenagers fake their age all the time and use fake pictures.
Omg the interview is so insensitive. Love Drake, I feel bad that he sat through this
So sorry to hear about all this… truly hope this changes the game in the showbiz when kids are involved… Everybody needs to be “trained” about healthy work environments and how to protect kids and how kids should protect themselves… this brake my heart. And so many that won’t dare to share their experiences.
Weird interviewer. Really apathetic and some invasive questions. Also clearly didn’t knew enough about Drake while doing the interview. Some questions were pointless and just show how little research she has done.
141 letters.. this interviewer doesnt even care enough to do the bare minimum amount of research needed in a normal interview, let alone one about such a sensitive topic. She clearly doesn’t know how to conduct an interview about CSA, or even have a proper conversation about abuse. Do better
the choice of words is insane
This is a cold and invasive interview. Survivors deserve better
I don't know this podcast, so maybe its just her style, but the interviewer comes off as really insensitive. There was a lot of really invasive questions that just didn't feel appropriate to ask in this context, like, talking about someone's experience of CSA and then asking them soooo are you ready to start dating again?? just comes off as really gross. I also don't think it was appropriate to ask him about Amanda when Drake has already said, multiple times, that he doesn't want to speak on behalf of any other former Nickelodeon actors.
Timestamp where she asked the dating question? Think my brain skipped over it or my feed did
LOVEEE drake ❤❤ but this interviewer was just awful 😭
Hang in there Drake you have thousands of people supporting you ❤
You seriously owe him an apology for how insensitive, invasive , and unprepared you were for this interview. my god.
What’s wrong with the interviewer? Feels like she is trying to debate about drake’s speech, !!!horrible!!! Love you drake
Never listening to this interviewer again. Worst first impression ever! Drake was very classy and patient during this interview
This woman needs a lighter heart. Especially while talking with a survivor about their trauma.
exactly she didnt even try to sugarcoat her wording, i cringed when she would just said rpe straight up
Hopefully there is some reflection here. As a trained EMDR therapist, it was apparent how uncomfortable Drake was.
He deserved more than gossipy questions
This was a poorly conducted interview from the minute it started. Props to Drake for his patience and maturity. Looking forward to “Non-Stop Flight!” Album!
I have so much respect for him. he is such an amazing musician and actor.
Just because anyone can do a podcast CZcams interview, doesn't mean they should. Only lasted 2 minutes as this just seemed like the interviewer was busy multitasking, and the questions seemed not prepared. Looking below my current comment, I guess I am not wrong in that assumption.
My god her Monotone voice is so badddd.
She made this interview so awkward
I mean this in all respect, you came across as detached and rude in this. I hadn’t seen you before this until now
Drake Bell and his father broke my heart in Quiet on Set. This is so sad for these people involved. My support is with all the victims of Brian Peck and all his buddies at Nick. It's so sad and rage enducing what has and still is happening to these little kids in show biz even reality TV, poor Alana Thompson has been robbed being treated so absolutely disgustingly sometimes by their own parents and bosses these poor kids have all struggled over the years and although we had suspicions that things were not quite as they seem as we grew up.... now we know. Shame on the abusers. Shame on the supporters in court. Shame on the parents who robbed money from their own children and used them for fame. SHAME on everyone who allowed this to happen to them. ❤😢
Felt so bad for drake in this interview. Do better.
Todo el sufrimiento de Drake me duele tanto. Espero de corazón que la vida y nosotros sus fans nos encarguemos de darle toda la felicidad que merece en esta vida.
It's everybody believing the impact statement without questioning when there was no proof of those allegations for me. 💀
This is the WORST interview ever! Painful to watch. You should work on your interviewing skills big time.
I listened to the audio of this interview and it was absolutely horrible especially the question she asked if he was ready to date again soon😡 someone needs to teach this girl some interview skills
Some really invasive and inappropriate questioning here…
Her: damn that’s crazzzzy what about your divorccce
@@katie2275 yeah, her coming off as the embodiment of a valley girl doesn’t help either.
Exactly
@@freakyfriesdayI cringed so hard when she asked him if he was ready to date again.
Me too. So inappropriate. Drake needs,to take time for himself before falling in love again. God bless!! 🙏❤🙏
I heard bad things about the interviewer on Reddit but I think she did an excellent job and I liked this interview. I saw another interview on a different channel and Drake was asked about people attacking the girl who made up all the fake accusations and Drake started to tear up , he was very upset to think someone was being abused online. I also find it amazing that Drake praises his ex-wife, whom he hurt with his behaviors , keep his life together as he was spiraling out of control.
I wish American outlets would interview him, so that he doesn't have to do these trashy podcasts.
Watch the video: Drake Bell on why he pleid guilty.
There he expresses himself better on this topic and with more confidence.
and it's from a year ago, before telling the world his story with Peck
I don’t think drake liked her very much

This was very hard to watch. Very hard.
Painful to watch very insensitive and invasive
This interviewer is horrible.
This was such a good interview such an amazing job Amanda ❤
It's a shame people are commenting but not providing constructive comments. I'm positive not all interviews are the same and maybe she just felt a little awkward. I think opportunities were missed where she could have asked more questions about some things he shared.
Instead Drake was repeating himself. I don't know how long Amanda has been interviewing for but there's positives to the interview. Points where she did actually say, don't answer if you don't wish to or if I may ask.
Work on what you can pick up on in an interview is difficult, I'm sure Amanda herself will pick up on things and improve to become a successful interviewer. Keep working on those small goals which will help you grow. Don't let these negative comments hold you back.
The first few seconds were super awkward I was like wth is happening then I scanned the comments... I probably should just stop watching...
Girl, some of these questions…. Yikes
What a terrible interviewer. Zero empathy😢
Less than 1 minute in and I already dislike everything about this interview and how it was handled. The lack of research, the tone of her voice, the insensitivity, I could go on and on. Ugh! Just horrible in so many ways.
Is the interviewer drunk?

I thought that this was a very good interview. She asked the hard, difficult, and sometimes even awkward questions, but she was respectful and always allowed Drake to answer fully before moving on. I find myself really feeling for Drake. I hope he continues to heal and recover.
You seem to be the only one who liked the interview
@@kellyfinley4419I liked the interview
Idk, i don't think interviewer did anything wrong, just not very charismatic, but that's not really a critique. If drake didn't want to answer, he wasn't obligated to and she didn't press anything he side stepped, so again, what's the issue?
Exactly. It's not about her it's about Drake
Drake's ex-wife already has a new boyfriend, Jim Perez💔
☹️
Not even 6 months after they separated she has a new partner. And funny Drake still refers to her as my wife here💔
Drake publicly endangered their child on multiple occasions, he doesn't even have custody now. Why would you expect Janet to stay with or pine for any man who treats her baby that way?
He himself admits he doesn't know how she dealt with him as long as she did. He is an addict and likely put her through more than we even know. She's still a great ex wife who is very supportive of him and sounds like she's a very good mother. Let her live
@@smithereens7105it's just a comment, it's only sad when a relationship doesn't work out and there's a baby involved, no one is stopping anyone from living xD
But I'm no longer sad for Drake, the man doesn't know how to be single, he already has a girlfriend too...
Sex crimes are under sentenced
Poor drake, very insensitive, invasive questions, and very pushy.
Amanda, you did a great job. I read through the comments prior to watching this and I am so confused as to why people are ripping you apart the way they are. Your questions were topical and I felt like you DID display empathy and also asked the uncomfortable questions. Zoom interviews can seem off. Don't listen to these assholes in the comment girly!
I feel most of the posters here don't listen to Amanda normally. She's not a valley girl. She's a Jewish New Yorker, mom to two, and well aware of her tone and voice. She laughs at it as some of her guests poke fun at it like Kristen Stewart recently.
I don't think everyone is commenting on her accent or tone of voice. I see a lot of people commenting on her interview style and technique. Granted not all the comments are constructive which is a shame. You can be constructive.
This shit is so awkward
