  • Does humanity have a future? And if it does, what can we do to ensure it's a future that's full of promise? In his new book "Future Rising: A Journey from the Past to the Edge of Tomorrow" scientist and author Andrew Maynard explores the future of humanity as he takes you on a remarkable journey from the Big Bang to our collective responsibility to future generations.
Weaving together ideas and insights from science, philosophy, art, and more, "Future Rising" traces a pathway from the emergence of intelligent life, through what makes us uniquely capable of imagining and creating different futures, to the profound challenges and opportunities that come with this.
Through sixty short reflections, the book reveals a compelling vision of the future of humankind and how this impacts our lives now. Beguiling, serendipitous, often-startling, and ultimately life-affirming, Future Rising is a short guide to the future that will change how you think about it and your relationship with it.
If you enjoyed Noah Yuval Harari's Homo Deus, Michio Kaku's The Future of Humanity, or Lord Martin Reese's On the Future, you'll be sure to enjoy Future Rising.
