Tesla PLAID: Why It Pushes The Limits Of Physics

Elon Musk has said that the Tesla Model S Plaid features some of the most advanced secret technology on earth. What are these "practically alien" innovations he's referring to?
The plaid features a few key upgrades that push the limits of physics and make it different than any Tesla before it. The Model S Plaid has a special drag strip mode to produce maximum acceleration for racing and demonstration.
But what makes the plaid's powertrain different than any other electric car on the road?
The rear motor assembly is the Plaid's most significant upgrade.
It consists of two souped up Model 3 drive units placed back to back, housed symmetrically inside a precision aluminum subframe. These rear motors are coupled directly to each wheel with a single speed transmission. All 3 permanent magnet synchronous reluctance motors contain an innovative carbon fiber sleeved rotor instead of a traditional metal sleeved rotor.
On twitter Elon Said, The Plaid carbon-wrapped motor is arguably the most advanced motor on Earth outside of maybe a lab somewhere. We have to keep some secrets!
It appears a software update can unlock double century speed, but you might need some hardware upgrades, if you want to be able to stop.
A curious listing for a Plaid Carbon Ceramic Brake kit popped up on Tesla's website, and It seems Tesla is waiting to ship this improved stopping power, before they unlock 200MPH to regular customers.
The Tesla Plaid maintains an understated appearance with subtle hints that it contains something extra ordinary, but somehow still manages the lowest drag coefficient of any production car ever built.
The record ¼ mile speed for the plaid is is 9.081 seconds at 154.10 mph, and the car produces 1,020 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
Tesla is setting the table for fully autonomous driving with a smaller, more compact steering profile in the form of a yoke that reduces central gauge cluster obstruction.
In the plaid S, they have scaled down the battery capacity from 104 kilowatt hour to a slightly smaller 100 kilowatt hour pack with improved cooling and electrical architecture. The goal is to ensure the battery can meet the high performance requirements of the Plaid without overheating or losing power.
This might be the last plaid Tesla we see with the old cells before Tesla makes the switch to those big soda cans currently slotted for the Model Y, Semi, and cybertruck.
The Tesla Model S Plaid is a car for practical folks that appreciate performance over showiness, and want to ride on the bleeding edge of technological progress, and when all comparisons to your daily driver sedan are with seven figure hyper-cars, you know you're in good company.

Musk's customer base has always been left leaning people who want to stop using fossil fuels and stop global warming. Now Musk is attacking his own customer base as he blames them for being influenced by Peter Thiel to buy Twitter and bring Trump back for the 2024 election. I can appreciate the technology and everything these vehicles offer. It reminds me of playing with my Tyco slot car set when I was a little kid, those little slot cars had crazy torque. my only concern is, the harder you are on the vehicle will most likely shorten the life span of the battery and those are probably not cheap to replace. A lot of inspiration from Knight Rider here, specially him saying "space ship". The only problem is the steering wheel's turn radius is a pain. One of the things with KITT in his dash shots is it showed that the steering wheel was much more sensitive than a regular full 360 wheel, so it didn't require much turning to make a big turn.

The plaid is the greatest car of all time. By a mile. Not just the unique performance, but the safety, the convenience, the software, the FSD, the zero emissions range and all of that in a car that seats 5 and has more room than a Camry... Unreal.

Really ? This is not true info for the 5 seater cars since Mercedes EQS and Lucid Air have both cars with even lower drag coefficient of -0,200 much less than Tesla S -0,208 ! But overall the EQS or Lucid Air are not the most aerodynamic production cars ever made as the clip above suggest at 5:49 because that record is jointly held by other 2 much older cars : 1996-1999 GM-EV1 and the phenomenally weird, Europe-only Volkswagen XL1, (produced from 2013 up to 2016) both had similar drag coefficient -0.186..

I like both electric cars and ICE type. Both have their advantages and disadvantages and that includes their carbon foot print and or how certain materials were extracted to make up parts of the car.
Having said that, I think we have a use for both in the same world. Battery powered cars could be used for everyday usage and leave heavy hauling to diesel trucks.
There is a reason why diesel is chosen over gas for heavy lifting. I don't think electric has a chance on long heavy hauls. Going up a 10-14% grade hill with heavy load, I'm sure the battery pack and or controller, would overheat in no time. For the diesel engine, that would just be a walk in the park. Where it might brake is anywhere behind the engine ie transmission, transfer case, differential gears etc. That's where the electric motor excels due to less amount of gears. Maybe have a diesel/electric assist long haul vehicle?
Good video by the way. I'd like to own one but I'm done driving long distances. Managed to drive 30k km in 5 years. Also wouldn't like the assholes that love to key the electric cars, as seen on Wham Bam Tesla Cam channel. Why people would do shit like this?
