Strathfield Green Waste - SL61

Starting off the new year with an old favourite SL061, this time handling the green waste/organics collection in Strathfield Council. Seen here pumping through the many green lidded bins lined up for collection a couple of months ago, with the majority of the clips taken on a sunny Tuesday Morning in Strathfield itself and one of them at a unit complex on a cold Thursday Morning in the suburb of Strathfield South. All green waste loads from Strathfield Council is taken to nearby Suez Chullora and a load each day out of the "food and garden waste trial zone" is taken to Suez Kemps Creek SAWT Facility.
This truck is a 2008 Iveco Acco with a 22m Macdonald Johnston GenV body, original purchased by WSN as an additional side loader for the previous Ryde Collections contract were it was used as 1 of the 5 permanent residential garbage trucks up until May 2015. Ever since then has been used as the permanent side loader on the Suez Strathfield Greens Contract up until November 2016 when the contract finished. For a short while it was used as a much needed and young all round spare for the current Ryde contract but a few weeks ago it was loaned to the Shoalhaven contract as they were in need of extra trucks due to the weekly recycling collections they run over the month of January, but should be back to the Eastern Creek Yard as a spare for Ryde by the end of the month.
JJ Richards has been handling the green waste collections over in Strathfield for the time being but within the next month or so the council will be handling the green waste collections by themselves as an in house operation using there current fleet of 4 yellow Hino/GenV's and MKIV's. I have heard the council wants to introduce a weekly collection service of food and garden waste in the green bins pretty shortly across the whole council, due to the trial zone being a success.
SL061 looking and working its best in the video as the driver really looks after his truck, 61 has always been a quick truck due to its powerful acceleration on the takeoffs between bins and the speedy lifter. Its an end of an era with the Strathfield Greens contract finishing up with Suez (WSN,SITA) as they have been doing it for years and theres always been some great variety of trucks working over there in the small council. Awesome stuff, enjoyed this one and a good operator I reckon! Only thing I am not a fan of is that massive spill shield.. looks rather big IMO and they always put their shields right down to the grabs? Anyway awesome stuff.

Thanks mate, yeh this driver is a top operator and enjoys working with 61 hes kinda the Strathfield spare driver when the permanent is off, other days hes in Ryde as a floater on any of the runs. Yeh the permanent driver who used to drive 61 full time on this contract likes the big spill shield as it prevents spillage but I prefer the smaller one.

Another awesome video mate! This truck has a fast as arm! I'm surprised the truck packed the big branches in the second clip! Bloody beast of a truck!! Do you know if JJ is just using a JJR signage or a council one? Hoping to see more of this truck in the future!

Thanks Robin and yeh 61 has always been a truck with a quick lifter that any side loader driver out there would be jealous of haha ! Yeh me and the driver had a bit of a laugh about the bin with the big branches lucky there was only a couple of them sticking out not a whole bins worth, handles the green waste quite well this truck. JJR is just using a ex Blue Mountains smaller body recycling truck and a plain JJR one, could be something different everyday who knows just what I seen out there on one day last moth. There will be plenty more of 61 action :)
