I mean, it might be a bit fringe for horror, but I think the introspective decision made by Ryan Reynolds's Jerry in The Voices is probably one of the most horrendous decisions. Dude had to mentally confront his demons in order to only find out that he was the monster all along, which breaks him and eventually sees him sitting down comfortably and waiting for the end as a building burns down around him. It's made even more painful by the fact that it IS actually one of those horror movies that spends a majority of the time being happy and wholesome, even if it was a delusion.

Tf, that ending to The Killing of a Scared Deer is wild. Every good parent would gladly give their life for their children to live. They’re the most important thing to them ffs. Talk about horrible parents. I don’t even think hospitals offer grievance payments to widow(ers) like fire, and police do (assuming the military does as well, I’d hope they would) to support their family. Then again this usually only applies for on the job deaths so I think the mother would be sol.

#7 shouldn't be on this list. If the choice is to die a horrible death or toss your DEAD friend off the tower it's not even a choice! There is absolutely no reason NOT to toss Shiloh off. If it didn't work Becky might have regretted not keeping a chunk or two of the body to stave off starvation but the lack of water probably would have made it a mute point.

I think it's more that she's been hallucinating the presence of Shiloh for a good portion of the film's run, and thinking of ways for BOTH of them successfully escape. Inside of her head, it's her and someone that she loves dearly enough to be convinced to climb the tower with - remembering that even with the assurance of back-up plans, it takes an extraordinary amount of faith, love, and trust to enter situations such as this only by words, and without making back-up plans of your own - and it's an awful situation, but it's one that both are still in together and that they can look back on in the future. Then she remembers. She sees Shiloh's body, she remembers. Her mind can't hide that information from her anymore. In less than a second, she's facing the sense of devastation, the loss, the realization, and the mourning that she couldn't bring herself to do before. With human attachment's to physical bodies as the extension of the mind and person they once loved, she's destroying another substantial part of Shiloh and the world that she knew with her by putting that phone there and shoving her. In less than a day, she has to make the decision of how to get down, and if she wants to (possibly) destroy the last vestiges she has of her friend. It's like shoving the person rather than a corpse. I'd imagine survivor's guilt and what-ifs likely would still play throughout her head. Further grief from it. That's not even considering the fact that, a year prior, her very husband had died in a climbing accident, and though under different circumstances, she's likely reliving another trauma as a fresh one is created by having Shiloh die from this one, too. Objectively, it's very little and almost incomprehensible to NOT do it, but it can be the pushing point to break someone psychologically. That being said, if I had convinced someone to put themselves in a situation like this and utterly failed to even bring a basic backpack of 'oh-crap' supplies (something that I do in general-day life, let alone situations like that) strapped securely around my torso with the little. Those weird flappy things at the end of the straps, or failed to inform someone of a set time-frame to hear from us, and then check if we haven't initiated contact, I would be LIVID if they DIDN'T push me down that tower. Alive or dead. But particularly dead, as I wouldn't have much use for my body anymore.

The decision in "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" isn't difficult if you're a good parent. Unfortunately, they were both HORRIBLE parents, but that's part of what makes the movie fun. All three of them end up competing to "prove their worth" to the father. But, in reality, I think most mothers would sacrifice themselves for their children...And most fathers would agree. Nicole Kidman's character is pure evil in that film. When she says, "We can always have more children..." Oh my God! Can you imagine being faced with the death of your child and instead of saving them, you respond with, "I can make another?" 🤯 Worst mom of the year.
And dad wasn't any better because he couldn't decide. Not that I think shooting your own spouse would be an easy thing to do, but he could have just blindfolded them and killed her to save his children. That would have been the "moral" choice, although the movie wouldn't have been nearly as interesting.

@@seanromine3932 No, the deal was that someone in his family had to die. He was a surgeon and an alcoholic and he performed surgery, while intoxicated, on the kid's dad and ended up killing him but didn't get caught. So the kid puts a curse on him. They never explain why he has the power to do it, but the deal is that all three of the doctor's family members will die unless he decides to sacrifice one of them. At first he doesn't believe it, but when the children start developing symptoms, he realizes it's true. The final symptom before death is bleeding from the eyes, so when that happens to the son, he has to make a decision and he randomly shoots one of them. And then they all go on with their lives like a bunch of weirdos. LOL It's a really messed up but really interesting film.

In the movie, The Reef, passengers on a capsized sailboat have to decide whether to a.) stay on top of a slowly sinking ship that is drifting further out to sea and hope they get rescued before the boat sinks, or b.) jump into shark infested waters and try to swim to an islet approximately 3 miles away and they cannot see but believe they can locate using the sun as a guide. It pisses me off that movies make wolves seem like a real threat. Across the United States, there's roughly 20000 North American wolves left. Comparatively, there are roughly a reported 20 million lightning strikes in the US yearly, so you're exponentially more likely to be struck by lightning than ever actually meet a wolf unless you spend A LOT of time in the barren wilderness. Not to mention, you will actually be investigated by the government should you actually fight off and kill an attacking wolf due to their endangered status because that's just how rare they've become over centuries of hunting.

I don't understand why cannibalism for survival is such a big deal. Maybe it's because I'm an atheist and I think a dead body is just a dead body. When I die...Do whatever you want with me. I won't be alive to know about it. Ultimately, I would like my death to possibly help someone else, which is why I'm an organ donor, but if it means saving some starving people, that's OK too.
And I don't even eat meat! LOL The thought of eating human flesh makes me gag, but if you have to do it to survive (and the person was already dead, I'm not talking about killing them), then I have no problem with it. Like what the rugby team that crashed in the Andes did. I've never seen anything wrong with that. They did what they had to to survive and they didn't hurt anyone. Their friends were already dead. And all but one of them is still alive today, so I think they made the right decision. One of them is a very successful pediatric cardiologist who has saved countless numbers of children. The fact that he ate human flesh 50 years ago in a life or death situation is inconsequential to me.

I've had some odd medical problems in my life and I've donated my body to a Medical University. When I die, I mean. Oddly, they don't want it right now. I don't blame them.🤣I'm also cool with my cats having me as a snack should I go at home and they get hungry. I'll be done with it by then so get your nosh on!! Some theists eat Jebus' body and drink his blood multiple times a week so I don't know why they get so hung up over cannibalism anyway.

Fun fact: Cannibalism isn't illegal in the U.S. If you kill someone to harvest the meat, that's a whole other matter, but if you find a carcass lying around with no indication of foul play...by the way, in the Western Hemisphere human flesh tends to taste like pork, while in the Middle East it tends more toward goat or mutton and further East, it resembles pork.
      Bon Apetit!
