Telford Koi Pond - no.159 - Bakki Shower Project - Changing the Pipework to use Purge as Feed.

- As you may have seen in my previous videos, I plumbed in my Bakki Shower using an in-pond set up with my pump at the bottom of the pond.
This was only ever meant as a short-term solution to get the Shower working and to see if we liked the running water it gave us.
Once we made the decision to keep it in play, I set about re-designing the pipework to locate the pump in the filter house and to use the 75mm Slide Gate Flush Point as the clean water feed for my pump.
There are some who said it couldn’t (or shouldn’t) be done but in my mind all the flow calculations added up so I needed to try it for myself.
Watch the video to see how I re-plumbed my Bakki Shoer set-up and more importantly………see if it works or not???
Cheers Paul🖐️. For someone whose mantra is “keep things simple” I do sometimes end up with some complicated set-ups😂. I suppose as long as it works as planned, no harm done👍
very clean installation Phil, and brilliant use of the redundant waste valve. I must admit I did have a little giggle to myself when you mentioned taping the jubilee clips to hide the shininess of them, right next to a mirror-esque bakki shower😂 great job Phillip👍😀
Good point😂. Daft thing is that I don’t notice the shower but the jubilee clips will annoy me……must be an age thing😊👍
Cracking job Phil
Thank you Allan, always appreciate your comments 😊👍. Will we see you on 27 & 28 at Newark?
Some bad news! As you know I'm irrational BUT I fully agree with keeping pumps and pipe work out of the pond!!! Can't think of many people who would be happy for me to agree with them!!!!
Pipework looks good and quite complex - have you been approached by NASA yet, sure you could help them land on the moon!!
Another superb job - keep us informed on performance.
Cheers.
Thanks as always Paul👍. NASA did contact me but told them I was too busy to waste my time on Micky mouse projects🤣😂🤣. All still performing good at the minute but the real test will be in the heat of the summer when the drum is cleaning more often. Good or bad you can be sure I’ll share my thoughts😊👍
Looks very nice Phil
Thank you Carol😊👍
Hi phil what a brilliant idea mate ive got a oase xl drum and ive got 2 bottom drains plus a skimer pulling on 2 pumps so i can only pull half the amount of water though the bottom drains so the skimer can pull as well . I all so run 3rd pump for my shower and another skimmer so by taking the feed from the bottom drain off pipe i can now pull more though the shower and hopefully i can open the bottom drains a bit more because the 3rd pump is pulling more water brilliant idea phil made my day im easily please mate lol 😁 👍
Glad to be of help👍. Must admit that the removal of waste by the increased pull into the bottom drain is visibly more efficient and all without reducing the water dwell time through the filter👍. I’m going to keep a close eye on it for the next few weeks but so far, so good😊👍
Excellent pipework as usual Phil, wouldn't expect any less. The shower ain't bad too 😉😂👍🏼
Cheers Pete👍. Only 1 cover left on the pond now and that will be coming off on Saturday…..woo hoo!!! Roll on the summer👍. Loving your pond build updates, keep them coming and let me know if I can do anything to help you get it over the line😊👍
Thanks Phil 👌🏼👍🏼
Top job phil , looks great mate
Thank you sir, much appreciated 😊. Remaining covers will be off by weekend so that will be me set up for the season👍
Great job on the plumbing. Bakki shower looks awesome and fish certainly seem to enjoy it. I think you have more fittings in your filter house than my local pond supplier and yours are so much tidier and better organized too. 😂
Thank you sir😊. I do like to have a stock at hand for future pro and to help others out if they are short of a piece or two😊. Amazing how many get used with a simple addition or changing of things👍
Great job as ever Phil. Fish look incredible.
Thank you, much appreciated 😊👍
Some great pipework there mate. That is some posh Bakki Shower lol. You have to be king of the Jubilee clips 👍👍👌Have a great season mate, Terry.
Thank you Terry, can’t beat a bit of bling (or at least that’s what Clare tells me every time we walk past a jewellers 🤣😂). I do love a good jubilee clip so why only use one when you have space for two😂. Wishing you all the best for the season ahead😊👍
Top notch mate
Thank you sir, Still think it’s lacking a wire tree on each corner so we’ll be watching your auction on Saturday night👍
@@TelfordKoiPond thanks Phil 👍
cracking update phil the bakki shower is looking great a nice addition to your set up have a great weekend buddy cheers martyn 👍👍
Thank you Martyn, always appreciate you watching and commenting 😊. On a road trip at the weekend so should be a good one for me, hope you have a good one👍
@@TelfordKoiPond 👍👍
Hi Phil, very interesting. Coincidentally just yesterday I routed my skimmer that used to directly feed my waterfall, through the drum and opened up the second 110 as the new feed to the waterfall via a 10,000 pump currently set to 30%. Didn't think about the waste pipe as an option, that said I do seem to remember Lee The Koi Soldier talking of something similar. Anyway, as usual mate, great vid 👍
Thank you Ray🖐. I’ve been toying with the idea since speaking to the Oase rep about it at last years BKKS show but didn’t have the motivation to try it. Lee and I were talking about it when we met up a SouthWest koi earlier in the year which gave me the drive to give it a go. I’m really pleased with how it’s performing at the minute but want to see how it performs in the middle of summer when the drum is cleaning more frequently 😊👍
@@TelfordKoiPond On another point Phil. Would there be any chance that you might consider doing a detailed vid showing the mod you put in place to counter the dripping from the Oase Drum from where the cables enter/leave to the control box. I've tried a few things but I'm still catching the water in a bucket which is a right pain....especially when on hols. I've spoke to Oase a few times on the subject but other than sending out a bit of extra foam strip, they don't really seem that interested in addressing it.
@@raysharman7162 hi Ray🖐. I’ve sent you a Messanger message with a picture and explanation of what I’ve done to stop the drip. Next time I’m filming in the filter house I’ll do a video and put it out on a video😊👍
@@TelfordKoiPond Top man Phil, very much appreciated 👍
Absolutely love your pond and filter house always so neat and tidy very envious 👍🏻
Thank you Derek👍. Some would say I’m a bit OCD but I just like things neat and in their place . You want to see it when I’m mid-project, it isn’t so neat then😂🤣😂👍
Wot a cracking job and that👍👍
Cheers Ade😊👍. Hope all good your end👍. I’m looking forward to our imminent road trip😊👍
That Shower will blind you in the summer remember your sunglasses 👓 🕶 😂 Well Done Mr Pipe 👏 👍 💪🙏
Cheers Craig, much appreciated 😊. 4 of 5 covers taken off tonight as I’m convinced summer is coming🤞🤞🤞. Taking the other cover off on Saturday when I have chance to get the proper feeder set up 😊👍. BTW sunglasses are at the ready😎
Tidy pipework Phil u will notice more activity from the fish 4 sure. Less pumps pipes in the water the better. Gr8 job
Thank you sir, much appreciated 😊👍
that shower looks like the sort of size I am looking for in stainless, rather than the p.v.c type of material. Could I be so cheeky and enquire whereits from. I am looking but only come ip with the full size items! Regards Phil
@@philfunk not cheeky at all, it’s from West Midlands Koi . I believe they are currently selling for around £500 but if you contact Lee (the owner) and tell him I sent you I’m sure he will do you a good deal😊👍
Thought you would have ran the pipe down other side so you could not see it
That was the original plan but wanted to keep the run as short as possible plus it’s simply easier to work on from the side it’s on. That’s not to say the top tie won’t be turned round and a longer pip put on the inside, in the future😊👍
