I'm a koi enthusiast based in Telford, Shropshire with a 2,500 gallon / 11,300 litre pond and I would like to share my koi keeping journey and experiences with anyone interested, providing video updates on how things are progressing, changes I make, new equipment I buy and of course, new Koi.
I will also be running competitions when I reach subscriber number milestones such as every additional 500 or 1000.

I’ve had a number of people asking to see an update video on my new grow-on and if there have been any changes in the main filter house, so the 1st part of this video is a quick update to show a couple of changes.
The 2nd part of the video is a reminder to enter the “free to enter” Beacon Koi competition which I covered in my video number 173. The prize is £100 to spend on Koi of your choice at Beacon Koi so definitely worth entering. I’ll be adding names to the draw-wheel and doing/filming the draw next weekend (13/14 July 2024) so there is still time to enter.

Following direct contact from Allan at EZ-POND, he came round at 9am on Sunday morning and immediately set about fixing the leaking bottom drain on my EZ-500i. 36 hours later I started the big fill again with confidence that the leak had been fixed once and for all. Nothing like watching a master at work so watch the video to see what Allan did to resolve my issue.

And it was all going so well. With my EZ-POND delivered and in place it was time to get the plumbing sorted. I chose my pipework plan, set it all out, glued and completed it and then it was time for the big fill; this is where disaster struck and stopped my dead in my tracks. The weekend of 27th & 28th April saw the eagerly awaited “Battle of the Breeders” event in Newark organised by KOI WHOLESALE and supported by Sunny Bank Koi and JPN Koi Co. The koi we were all there to pick from were outstanding, the organisation was well executed, and the free pizzas, drinks and snacks went down very well. Nice one Phil, always interesting vids. Re the Oase Drum drip issue - Unbelievably mine has been been dry for a few months now. It stopped more or less at the time when I asked you to elaborate on how you managed to solve the issue. That said, I'm sure it will return sometime in the future so many thanks for the clear vid and explantaion. Re negative feedback - Unbelievable! Reminds me of the Ricky Gervais guitar lesson sketch. Mature KOI are at risk of spawning and young KOI are inhibited in their most important early stages of growth. As long as there is no recognition that people's interaction is prioritised and the KOI is exposed to sacrifice we will never share our values.
