    I was diagnosed with hip arthritist and a hip replacement was reccomended. I was turned down for surgery because of high BMI, risk of infection is high. So I've been going to PT for 2 years. Last November 2020 I needed a walker to go vote and even with a walker I could barely walk 1 block and that was with severe pain on left hip and taking an NSAID medication. This weekend I walked 1.11 miles without pain. I also did the stretches you demonstrated which I did not do at PT. Note the progress did not happen overnight but I kept at it with the stretching at home, attending PT, taking an NSAID medication if pain was severe, heating pads, gels etc. Your stretches really helped reduced pain.

      How is your experience with the surgery? I'm 32 know and had one done 5 years ago. I developed osteophytes in the hip and I feel like I'm worse off now than I was before. The things I'm doing now to ease the problems I'm having was probably the thing I should have tried before surgery I realize know.

      @@glenngoysens8372 wow, sorry about your difficulties. What exactly are you trying?
      I was born with hip dysplasia. Per doctors advice, been holding out on surgery. Supposedly you can only get two replacements.

    • @glenngoysens8372

      @@jdm6613 I had one of these "Periacetabular Osteotomy: An Overview - HSS" www.hss.edu/conditions_Periacetabular-Osteotomy-PAO.asp on my left hip. Which had the worst dysplasia. It is also with the aim to prevent hip replacement. But as I said, I developed osteophytes in the hip joint, making me doubt if I made the right decision. To combat the problems coming from these osteophytes I am now working hard on all muscles attached to the pelvis (more or less). These exercises are also valuable to deal with hip dysplasia itself, should have tried them before surgery... But the doctor I went to at the time convinced me surgery was the best option.

    • @jdm6613
      @jdm6613 Před 3 lety

      @@glenngoysens8372 Read the article and think it is my dysplasia. I was told no sort of modifications could be made aside from a replacement. Since my socket is deformed (not fully developed, I believe) and there'd be no "room/place" for the femoral head.
      I once could pop my bone out of socket at will. No I'm afraid it will pop out of socket and I'm not able to get it back in place. My ability to do so decreased with age.
      Please tell me what exercises you are doing. Do you have any links? I think I may have to stretch in the AM right out of bed for an easier day. My hope is to run, walk, do kick boxing excercises with ease, no bones popping out of socket,and no pain afterwards. I would love to get rid of my limp!

      @glenngoysens8372 Před 3 lety +1

      @@jdm6613 well, I'm working with a physiotherapist who constructs me an exercise plan. I have the impression your dysplasia is more severe than mine, so I would look for some expert advice on this. But basically what I am doing are hip strengthening exercises like these "14 Hip Exercises: For Strengthening and Increasing Mobility" www.healthline.com/health/hip-exercises#with-weights
      I started out with focusing mainly on glutes and side gludes. Glute bridges and band walks etc. The main thing is to keep doing them, do them often, and try to keep progressing. Progressing is best done by doing more sets and reps at first, but changing to more difficult exercises in time, because you don't want to work on your hips 2h a day of course. And maybe another tip, make sure you use the muscles you're intended to use. Glute bridges should be felt in glutes and hamstrings, if you start to feel your low back or something, I would get some advice on proper execution.

The doctor is impressed on the amount of mobility I have. After 2mo. in a cast and 1mo. in a brace with 3x a day exercises. Now I have my brace off and the doctor said keep doing the exercises till I get full use of my wrist again I am at 50% right now. It's important to really take time with these -- to not just dash through them, especially that seated lateral femur press-down.A full minute hold on that is a good idea. Count the time and count out your reps. Yay.🏇

Yesterday the doctor said he mainly thinks I’m in pain because of one of the screws is digging into my muscle. I think their may be more reasons but idk. I’m going to physical therapy again because it’s a last resort to another surgery. (Reomoval of the screw) they said it might be cause my hip muscles are still extremely weak, but my doctor seems pretty sure it’s the screw. I have rt hip subluxation, painful thumping for 2 1/2 years now from a fall. Just got a call after mri (xrays showed no arthritis) say it didnt show much so want me to go to therapy for the tendon. When i stretch rt side it thumps (feels like it is popping out of joint). Any suggestions for me? I would really like to get back to normal. Walking burns the knuckle (?) so bad after half a block start limping.

My doctor has recommended me to go for complete hip replacement surgery after detectionof fecat and arlet stage 3, however I am looking for a non surgical option to treat this issue. Can these exercises are commended to me and avoid surgery??
