    I put two tennis balls in a long sock and stand and use the wall to apply pressure to back, hips, legs, IT band. Less agressive but more effective because better control of pressure on trigger points. Works soooooo well! Thx for your videos!

    WOW, guys, this is the video I really needed to see. It's not that I can actually DO those exercises you showed us (I'm not there yet -- my left hip is so tight that I have very little mobility or ability to bend my knee, etc. But the things you mention -- heat, pillow under knee when in bed, sleeping on my back (I can't turn on my side anymore), using a cane and now a 4 wheeled purple walker ( :-) ), made me realize I'm doing all the right things! When I was in high school, the doctor put me on a table and measured my legs, and said my left leg was 2 inches shorter than my right. But nobody did anything about it, and I wasn't told to get orthopedic shoes or anything. I forgot all about it, but when I was in my mid-60s (and walking a LOT and working out at the gym) I began to have problems. And before I knew it, It was gradual enough I didn't know exactly what was going on. Now it really hurts ONLY when i put all my weight on my left leg without support from at least a cane, or better, from my walker. (Very annoying, but I'm thankful for the walker.) Sometimes it wobbles a little bit. I also use a SHOE LIFT that's just under an inch in size. It goes on the OUTSIDE of my shoe and seems to help a little. I have to use a plastic gizmo to put tights or socks on my left leg and foot. Meanwhile, I have NO PROBLEMS AT ALL with my right leg. It's pain-free. My left knee is sensitive now, too, and I use an elastic brace. Oh the golden years, lol! I am looking forward to trying some of the exercises you recommended, especially the first one, but very carefully, as when i stress my hip, it REALLY hurts and I have to take it easy for a day or two. You guys are the best!! Love your videos. If you have any other videos or suggestions related to my hip situation, please comment -- thanks!!!!!!

      Denise, Try physical therapy first, I wish I had known to before my back surgery. Also, if you need to lose weight, and do, it will take stress off your hip. Do all you can before something as radical as losing your hip bone and replacing it with metal or whatever. You don't know the pain that could be lifelong if it doesn't turn out right. A friend had surgery for a bunion over a year ago and has been suffering in pain ever since. God Bless.

    During the time when I was doing physical therapy after being in bed so long after my tibial plateau NWB time. I learned from a CZcams video to lean forward with my good leg (left), and keep my bad leg (right) straight and foot planted to ground by way of my toe. I held onto my (tall) bed on right side while I leaned forward. (Keep in mind my left foot was about a foot or more to the front of body.). The objective was to stretch my right leg. This would help eliminate the pain I had on the front inside of my bad knee (right.). CZcams said that if pain went away, I had bursitis. And it did. This is when I focused on lowering my overall inflammation with omega 3 foods, etc. That helped a lot.

    I've had hip pain for 18 months. What the hell is wrong with me? I got the pain in my right hip, coccyx, and groin from changing a tyre with my left foot without proper tools. I really don't want pain killers any more, I just don't want this pain anymore. My local doctors are quacks, and seem interested in treating hypochondriacs and half dead old people, because they don't really know anything about medicine. I've considered bursitis, bone fragments, and even a labral tear. At first, my hip felt as though I was burning alive, then it and my coccyx stung, then nipped. Now it's not AS BAD as over q year ago, but it's so depressing not being able to walk completely pain free. Please, either help, or come to my house and kill me because I'm fed up.

      Codell Jones you might have a hip impingement. I do and mine pretty bad, but it wasn't at first it took 5 dr and 5 months to figure out what was going on. Walking, sitting and stairs are horrible! My pain started in my low back and eventually I pain burning pain in my groin. I'm not saying for sure that what your dealing with, but let me tell you just check and make sure. because if you find it early it's much easier to treat and less likely to go get a soft tissue tear. Not trying to scare you, I just don't want to to be in super bad pain!

    On 10/2/19 I broke my left femur at its "neck". After surgery and some INTENSE muscle massage P.T., I can usually manage to stand straight, and walk the 20 steps it takes to get from one end of my house to the other. However, anything much more than that causes the GROIN MUSCLE/TENDON (whatever!) to start to spasm, and I find myself tipping my pelvis down, and my butt up. That in turn gives me a pain in the middle, side, of my left cheek (I've heard you guys say its name but I can't recall it now) and, if I continue, I get pain on both sides of my spine at about the area where my spine curves back out -- about mid point (?) on my sacrum. I tried that stretch you show (at 11:32 odometer), and it felt wonderful at the time, but the next day I could barely move even with a walker!! I'm 70 y.o. -- going on 35 -- and this setback in my life is sending me up the walls!!!

    I’m 71, overweight and I was a hairstylist for 37 yrs. I was in a minor car accident in January and my ortho Dr said the jar woke up the sleeping dragon of arthritis!! He said the X-ray didn’t look bad enough for replacement, but the last time I went in, he said my pain level indicates I do need hip replacement!! I’m still in awful pain after a shot in the bursa, a shot right in the joint thru the groin, and 6 weeks of physical therapy. Since the virus got bad, I’ve been doing my exercises at home and the ones of yours that I can do! Ibuprofen, arthritis Tylenol and ice or heat! Nothing works!! No let up in the pain! It is when I walk, sitting down or laying down the pain isn’t so bad. I walk with a cane, but even the meds only take the pain down a notch!!
    If my X-ray shows space between the ball and socket-how come I’m in so much pain!!!

    I am 28 YO and I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my hip. In 2007, after I dislocated my knee cap 3 times, I had surgery in the knee and I didn't have physical therapy after that. I believe my problem in the hip may be a consequence of my knee surgery (where they have relocated my knee cap). Anyway, the ortopedist I have consulted about the hip problem (which appeared years after the surgery) told me it is a consequence of an illness I had in my youth that wasn't diagnosed (leg-calve-perthes) and the only way I would recover is if I had hip replacement surgery but he said it depends on how I feel. He also said physical therapy would not help me and recommended doing water activities with little intensity (well, I am a competitive master swimmer so there goes the "little intensity" part..). Anyway, I would like to know if you think I may be able to perform some exercises you have in your videos to strenghten the hip muscles. I say this because I have seen your videos about "how to tell if you have a weak hip" and I concluded I have a weak hip, so along with stretching, would strenght exercises help me too?... Thank you in advance!

    I find using a cane hurts my hands. I also tend to lean too much on the cane, which causes more pain on my hips. So, I feel better without one!

    Hi there. I fell out of bed in a dead sleep and fell on the metal brake of my walker. That was almost a year ago. Why am I still having chronic pain in the area I fell on? I would really appreciate an answer. I am 55 and have psoriatic arthritis. Thanks so much!!

    What do you recommend for hip pain on the other side of the leg, like in the groin area. Sometimes I bend to pick up something and as I stand the hip will catch, sending a zing of pain. Then it may be sore for multiple days. I have slept with an inflatable pillow between knees for years. That helps somewhat. But if I lose the pillow during the night, I sure feel it the next day!

    I am a back sleeper but since my hip started to hurt chronically, I can only lay on the "sore" side. When I lay on the opposite side it pulls my hip out of socket and is painful. Lying on my back also stretches the hip muscle but makes it hurt in the morning.

    What happens to the spine and body if a person persists in using a lower height for the grip on the rollators that they can’t walk without?? Will it help to raise the bars so the body has to stand more upright than humped over..All the time..?.

    Thanks again. This video is another good one! Do you have any videos to improve posture when you have flat feet or overpronation?

    • @starflower703
      @starflower703 Před 4 lety

      Are you sure it’s really a flat foot? I learned there is something called a flexible foot. When you aren’t putting pressure on your foot, does it look like you have a natural arch in your feet? And does that arch seem to disappear when you stand? If so, you probably have a flexible foot as opposed to a flat foot. If this is the case, you need support, but not a hard or severe arch support. You need a somewhat soft arch support. Try it and see if it helps.
