Training Bodhi the GIANT Caucasian Mountain shepherd puppy!

- Watch the progress this 3.5 month old puppy has made with his basic training! Bodhi is starting to give me a little duration in his commands- which is exciting when your are working with a puppy. Good boy!

Never,never give treats for doing a good job. Just praise and petting. And yes that is how 4H dog training teaches children. Yes it works.
Mine came with all the basic commands at 8 weeks old. I'm not sure why somebody would get a caucasian then have it trained by a stranger. These are guard dogs, there are plenty of other big fluffies if you want a pet.

are you not tempering the dogs instinct? not criticising btw. I assume the owners bought that breed for its guarding characteristics. some of which are an innate distrust of everyone/thing except its family & you're teaching it that nothing is any kind of threat. fine for a companion dog. counter productive for a protector.?

Why use the place command, after the sit command? Isn't sir enough. If the dog is told to sit, shouldn't that be the xommand?
Place command is a wonderful command. The dog will stay where you want them, but they can relax into whatever position they want. And they learn to self soothe! (When they are first learning place it tell them to sit so they don’t just walk away).
