- Rajeev Gowda wears many hats - he is an academician, spokesperson, professor, and social worker. Formerly a Rajya Sabha MP, he is now a Congress candidate for the Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency, a Vokkaliga stronghold. He is contesting against BJP's Shobha Karandlaje, also a Vokkaliga.
Currently, Rajeev serves as Chairman of the Congress Research Department. Previously, he was the Director of the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India and chaired the Centre for Public Policy at IIM Bangalore, teaching various courses.
In a recent episode of the ANI podcast with Smita Prakash, Rajeev discusses Congress' prospects in Karnataka for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He dismisses the existence of a 'Modi wave' in the state and predicts that Congress will secure double-digit seats.

What a pathetic answer given by him on Electoral bond, not expected atleast from IIM professor😢. I'll never donate even my torn shoes to any institution established for national electoral donation where parties will get money based on their vote share. I as voter don't want to give a penny to AAP, TMC & Communists so, i wont donate ever because my money will strenthen these anti-India parties. I still feel electoral bond was good. Court should have suggested more transparency not to have scapped it

I am a Panjabi with a UP Hindi accent, now a Californian with a mixture of several accents. I knew nothing about Karnataka politics. From this video, I got a glimpse of it from Rajeev Gowda, a real Karnatakite, albeit with an American influence, and Smita Prakash, a Delheite with a Karnataka heritage. Smita, normally very controlled, surprised me with her confrontational and aggressive questioning of Rajeev Gowda. Good for you, Smita!

We did support Modiji last 2 times, they won 28 seats. But few issues should be highlighted :
Things BJP did well :370, Ram temple and some infrastructure.
BJP MPs have not been visible at all. At the peak of his popularity, there was no need for Modiji to put opposition leaders in the prison. Electoral bonds issue. Election commissioners selection process.
If BJP didn't indulge in these issues and focused on development then victory would come again but right now a bit suspicious?

If Karnataka govt had not given freebies, they could have used that money during drought. Instead, they go asking the central government to help them now. Real example of what will happen to the country if they come to power.

This interview proves education is good for jobs as a qualification however politics is done and learnt if you want to not because your family was part of the freedom movement. Just because someone was born after the freedom is equally eligible to lead the nation.
