Lol Alejandro Flores Lund tuner did a live stream about this and he was right. Removing carbon traps not gonna gain 20whp like people was saying 😂
ya thats crazy people think they rock 15-20hp lol its a heavier car than a s550 with 20 extra hp at the crank. Best way is 3 back to back runs and take a average.
Lol I watched that too😂
You're welcome
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
There is lots of surface area with the dual intakes, so I figured the engine could probably still get enough air.
For the same reason, I think aftermarket air intakes won't really make a huge difference.
I wonder if the ford performance blue cone filters will fit in the air boxes. That would be interesting to see
Awesome! Thanks guys!!!
Great video and insight!
Very insightful, thank you for the pull. I look forward to more of you alls content. This is my dream car but in blue
Thanks for watching!
Great methodology, you've got yourself a new subscriber! looking forward to another qualitycontent from you guys
Thanks for watching and subscribing 👍🏻
Glad we got you guys experimenting for us!
Thanks for watching
Informative video! Thank you! Can’t wait to see what the 3.0 whipple and custom tuned 2024 that’s already been done puts down on the dyno.
“Custom” tune? You must be new to the Mustang world. The S650 is a little different than the previous models
Bought the GT vapor color manual transmission so far it’s been a blast stock. Now no matter what anyone says there will be many like it but mine well it’s mine
0 Fu&ks given . Manual v8 with some boost I can not complain
Great Video. Love the new dyno content
Another great video, excellent content!
Thanks Andy
damn this was some good insight - very cool
it would be interesting to do a before and after flow measurement on the intake hoses...
nice, I would keep the air straighteners for the flow aspect in and keep the carbon traps out. sweet machine
Thats what we did.
Sweet
Wow! Impressive👊
Thanks ✌
Car sick mustangs are amazing 🤟🏾
Twin Turbo setups would be killer for this car
You mean like any other car? 😂
Twin intakes for twins 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@ClickbaitMotorsportsi mean it would be cool to have one feesing each intake. Fully symmetrical
Try replacing the stock air filters with K&N filters when they're available that would be interesting to see the difference
+5 HP
Don’t go K&N. Run Green Filter. They’re superior
A stock paper air filter will flow just as well as the K&N without the shit oil filter being in there. Those filters will cause oil build up on the Mass air flow sensor.
It doesn't do any of that. Had an oil filter for 11 years on my 2014 mustang gt and no issues.@burntfaceman24
The stock tune needs a 1000rpm more 🤣 it’s peaking at the limiter
Nice video and informative. That Mustang looks like a Camaro at certain angles.
the carbon footprint necessary to manufacturer those carbon traps is greater than the carbon the trap traps, change my mind. This is why government has no business making cars or anything.
Nah.
@@Lifeof728nah? Great answer smh
@@midnight347 change my mind.
@@Lifeof728 Brah.
@@midnight347 Right! What a moron
They did dyno runs for a similar type carbon filter that was removed from a 2023 Subaru BRZ (Toyota GR86) and they saw +10HP. Looks like the Japanese need to consult Ford for a more efficient carbon filter design.
Interesting video. What type of dyno software are you running WinPep 7 or 8. Thanks
Brand new dyno we just got it. 8
@@MiddletonMotorsports Thanks those are great numbers for a new Mustang. I have been seeing lower numbers on our channels for the Dark Horse. Your dyno should be spot on!
Are you dynoing in 5th? how did you avoid the speed limiter?
Doesn’t hit the speed limiter in 5th
Unmeasurable difference from carbon traps, hope people get off the carbon trap bandwagon now, duel intakes with the lids off is asking for a hood with open air intakes... Ford Motorsport sells a blue air filter supposedly flows more...excellent video again from you guys.... yes 1/4 mile dragy runs PLEASE.
It would look pretty neat with maybe some louvers or something directly over top of them
@MikeYeary take a look at the COPO Camaro forced induction, it's literally a giant fiberglass funnel directly to the throttle body and Ford for some reason will never do stuff like this.... bring back the true Ram Air for a Mach 1 Maybe, unlike last year's decorative sticker package.
yup, its funny how it was proven/ dyno'd that removing the carbon filter on the 22s actually gained the power back but they didn't do shit on these🤣
@@alexisaguilera2705there's no true dyno test like this one for the 22 isn't unmeasurable difference either case
Yes there is it’s proven on a dyno just like this video 🤣 m.czcams.com/video/J9TS6AvTbGo/video.html&pp=ygUZdG9ueSdzIGZvcmRzIGFuZCBtdXN0YW5ncw%3D%3D
Great video l really enjoy watching your videos Ford powered forever baby keep on pulling the knot out of them boties and the horns off them mopars l love it
I’m so keen to see you guys put a whipple on her
These vehicles have so much engineering into them I find it hard to believe any real world gain comes from changing anything on the stock setup. You might get a negligible increase at the cost of losing HP somewhere else. Closed lid air boxes keeps IAT temps down keeping the motor cooler. So for a daily/street car I would keep the lids on. Those iat temps will climb like crazy idling at a stop. Keep it stock unless you’re chasing every last ounce of HP for drag racing. There is a reason it’s setup the way it is.
Yea thats smart then have all hot air coming in either put a cold air with a closed air box or leave it as is
We aren’t running without the lids. Just for a test to show restriction of stock intakes
@MiddletonMotorsports i know you are doing a test its ford that are idiots first with that shit hole mt82 that im having all kinds of problems with now they make a 4000 pound car that is slower than the s550 because of weight
You guys need to teach steeda how to use a dyno 😂
Should it be noted that leaving the lids on the intakes be more effective on the street when the hood isn’t able to be up? With no lids would let more heat in defeating the purpose?
Yeah we mention it’s a gimmick for the dyno.
My bad, thank you!
I would be really curious to see what would have happened if you closed the hood with the airbox lids off. I bet it would be lower. I don’t think in real world testing taking those lids off will help.
Yeah that’s why we said it was a gimmick for numbers. Not practical in real world.
Nothing about the S650 says it’s a better performance car than the S550. Only thing it has going for it is the 2 tablets and a drift stick if you like it 😂
And better brakes.
@@Lifeof728 oh yeah brakes cause you’ll need that after getting gapped by a 15-23 mustang 👍🏽
great, a drift stick so these idiots that dont know how to drive now have an added feature to lose control exiting car shows 🤦🏻♂️
Aka gimmicks
And they don’t make the S550 anymore. They’re not going to bring it back. At least they didn’t cancel the mustang altogether
I watched another video and they gained 12 peak HP. Their stock engine had a little less HP though, 438.
I "de-badged" my Camaro and replaced it with the Dark Horse emblems and everyone is astonished over my new "Dark Horse" 🙎♂️ an affordable option and very believable 🙌
Without a dyno. You can’t tell the difference.
Where in Wisconsin are you guys? Do you do any tuning? Ever work on the ecoboost motors? Just curious, fellow Wisconsinite here.
Middleton Wisconsin. Yes we can tune anything
@@MiddletonMotorsports awesome, 1 hr and 20 minutes away. Haha
@@MiddletonMotorsports was just peeping thru your parts list for focus ST, I’ll definitely be ordering thru you guys. Appreciate the reply, have a great weekend guys.
I'm not sure if it's true or not but I've seen videos where people are removing their carbon traps and then I have dash lights come on. There's no way I'm doing that on my Dark horse!
I’m lame… I talked to my father who has Owen older 5.0’s in the 90’s.. and in our opinion.. the power in the car is enough, it’s a finer good in the market, Ford is known for the circuit more so than the other big 3, so why is it bad that the changes and alterations are more so focused on other functions of the performance rather than just power output? The adjustable bars under the hood. And other things are given to the Ford to make it track oriented. Yes it’s heavier, I got nothing on that… but they gave us a drift opinion.. it is performance oriented… just a different type of performer.. it’s not a drag car.. like a ton of the community want, it’s a pretty fast car meant for road racing.. see when the hellcats break loose jamming the gas down?? They are not performance vehicles in my opinion, Ford say’s we want more than straight line performance.. and this new whipped should give the average man more than enough power to have the fun. I’m keeping my order and seeing what happens. But I’m not an extreme guy who wants to have a carbon fiber cam shaft and things like that to make the most of the engine, I’m a normal guy. And I thiiiiiink it will be enough with the whipple. But yes.. it is priced high. This is an opinion of a fan of cars, but doesn’t have knowledge. So a nobody..
We don’t care about stupid drifting stuff, the issue is that this car is heavier, slower and not tunable. 90% of mustang owners don’t drift, we want something fast out of the box that we can modify.
Disappointed in the 2024 model not your channel.
No disrespect intended but lund is not the only person who has tested the new mustang without the carbon traps and got more HP. Why is he right and others wrong? Also, every little bit of HP all adds up. Carbon traps here, an x-pipe there, removing the air box lids and later a tune and flex fuel. Look at the bigger picture.
let's do one more, no boxes and hood closed with a fan
80% the video sound only comes out on the right side lol
THANK YOU
Whoever edited this video, please balance the audio next time. It was all the way to the right the entire time.
thot the dyno plug was in the same place as the 550? keeps the abs in check.
These s650s hate the dyno and that plug doesn’t change it. We have to do a hard reset in the computer every couple runs
1st time me hearing about abs cause issues with air fuel ratios. How are they even related
The car was going into a limp mode of some sort. Doesn’t like being on the dyno even when the dyno plug unplugged. The car changes the fueling why we’re not sure
@MiddletonMotorsports I have a G8 that's gone into limp mode. It does have an abs fault light come on sometimes however I've never had the 2 come on simultaneously, and the limp mode was pretty rare, but the abs fault in a g8 isn't like a check engine light and I don't know why I experienced the limp mode. Just some spirited driving on the highway without an abs fault. I would never imagine an abs screwing with the issue causing the ecu to bug out
@@MrDerekRobinson this is far from a G8 with the new computers etc. we’re not saying it’s the abs causing it. The whole car goes into a limp mode not sure what’s causing it other than it’s on the dyno and doesn’t like it.
see the test here. - 4:32
More air will tell the computer more gas it’s not rocket science but I’m under the idea that ford has locked up any way to reflash
I want to see a centrifugal supercharger with a dual throttle body, the twin screw eliminate 1 T/B
It's locked down. You can't just mod mod mod that is why being locked down sucks one of these days yall are gonna finally get it lol
@@midnight347someone already put a 3.0 whipple that’s tuned on a 2024.

Remove the air filters.
Alejandro flores was right people spending 70k for nuthn 😂😅 should have just got the gt350 smh
Chuck already has a 900whp GT500. He wanted to test the new platform at the track and like we mentioned in 60 days it will be a different car with a Whipple.

Make it a fun car. But if I want the best performance on track and acceleration ill get in the 500
whos going to drive around with no lids sucking hot engine air in? pmas fender cai is what it needs.
No one. We just did it to show the filter setup is restrictive and aftermarket intakes can take advantage of that.
Take the air filter off; put the lid back on... why hasn't anyone tried this.. it would be the most realistic thing you could/ would do at the strip..
We don’t and wouldn’t recommend running without a filter. Not worth the minimal power if any gain from that
@MiddletonMotorsports I can accept that. Also, I wouldn't recommend running with the lid off, with hood down. But you made the comparison to gt500's gains, *65hp+ I've seen from Vmp (*not your comment).. for sake of an experiment, why not try? Even better with a gt500.. RoadKill!
We don’t recommend that either. We just did the lid off to see if there’s a restriction in stock intakes and there is. With the hood down and lids on normal driving it will get more air than sitting still on dyno.
you only see a gain from the lids removed with the hood up LMAO close the hood and IATs skyrocket and RIP your gains
We mentioned it was a gimmick in the video but same tests are done in past with 500. Sitting stationary on dyno is hard to simulate enough airflow for intakes. This helps the engine get what it needs sitting there
Remove them and add k and N filters
Casually voiding your warranty on a brand new car 😢
I don't think they care, because they're clearly going to mod this car in the future for racing...LOL 😂
Doesn't void your warranty. It's just to meet stupid environment requirements. I removed my carbon filters on my 22 and asked the dealership if it voided mine and they laughed. It's going to take a bit more than that.
Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act look it up because you are wrong
They are an sub entity of Middleton Ford, they determine when the warranty become void.
@@xpvibe you’re not wrong except in the fact that they can’t deny warranty for this “modification”

$100k mustang for 450hp. 😂😂😂
I would buy a c8 before this car
@@roymoxley2587 absolutely. Shit I'd buy a new Supra before this overweight hog.
New Mustangs too heavy and very little power increase. Better to get earlier models.
They’re barely even heavier… like a 100lbs curb weight MAYBE. If you want lighter you need a 2012 or older. Those are actually lighter but you’re talking a negligible difference between 2024 and any of the s550s
@@icebox829 something is wrong with the performance of the 2024. A new gutted GT ran 11.7 that was with a drag pack 10R80 car. Lol that's pretty slow if you ask me.
If your girlfriend rides in the passenger seat of your S550, it will weigh more than the S650.
With 15 percent drive loss this puts it at 530 crank.
Stock tune only 19 gt made 446. This is embarrassing.
Who cares about crank 🙄🤦🏿♀️
@YDBT4LIFE what number would you want to see? Honestly, what were you expecting? Let's be happy we still have a v8, and it makes more than advertised. It's sucks that cars are so expensive right now, but there aren't any new cars under 60kish with 500 hp that I know of. There is no way a gt made 446 wheel horsepower with just a tune unless it was e85; either that or the dyno reads high.
@Haywood_jablowmey Everyone, that's why they advertise crank hp it sells.
@@jeffkelly9197I'm not just gonna "be happy we still have a v8" if it's locked down it might as well be an ev
Id rather have a 18 gt over a new one,the new ones are much less duds...
A carbon Trap is not a secondary air filter its to trap evaporated fuel from coming out of the intake.. ie.. emissions.. Delete this!
440HP? A Gen 3 Manual with a tune makes that.
I've seen em make 430+ bone stock (gen 3 manual)
Great channel…new Mustang, boring car.
Couldnt you just make a 1/4 mile pass stock, then a pass with what you should be calling "free flowing intakes".. then we would see if there was a real delta.. No one cares unless it actually translates to a noticeably quicker time..
Runs a 12.4 stock 😂😂

@thefitnesslife4988 oh yea that little detail of NOT BEING ABLE TO TUNE IT actually matters after all maybe people will finally start getting it now just maybe.
It's not gonna make shit but stock power because it's locked down. One of these days people are finally gonna get why people who know what they're talking about have been shitting on this disappointment since day 1.
I'm sorry to say it's still not worth the money .The Dyno numbers are in and the overwhelming cancelation of Dark Horse orders as well. + It weighs more than previous Mustangs . 🪨 = less 🐎 power.
