    Legal issues aside, I bet she could have taken the guy yelling at her apart. On one hand, I wish she did. On the other hand, I am glad she did not. There are many legal issues in using her combat skills against an attacker. I wish I were there to support her.

      Major legal ramifications like any other person who would have physically initiated a fight. The idea that any martial artist that has a black belt or is a master is a lethal weapon is a hollywood-generated myth.

    I'm going to predict that gold and silver will be between Sanchez and Kiyou Shimizu. Who will win which medal...that's a tough one both are beasts. Hopefully Kokumai gets bronze, because she's basically the U.S. only hope of winning a medal, let alone actually earning a spot at the games.

      at olympics the final will be between kyou and sandra. for me sandra is better but it will take place in japan...and we know the hometown judging.... the bronze medal will be between bottaro and lau. i would love to see dimitrova also.

      @@nipaipo36100 Kokumai getting bronze is wishful thinking on my part as an American and a fan of hers. I know In the world rankings both Bottaro and Lau rank just above her in third and fourth place respectfully. But fifth in the world and qualifying for the games is still pretty good for someone who hasn't had a sensei/coach since 2015 and basically on her own.

      Not entirely, kata still trains physical attributes like explosiveness, speed, agility, and flexibility while also providing mental exercise much like shadow boxing does. Of course it doesn't do the same as actual sparring but it is far from useless

      @evansusmc Před 3 lety

      @@evansusmc You get as much out as you put in for both. And trust me, when you're drilling Kata for competition for hours straight, there's nothing low level about the level of training those attributes receive.

      @@evansusmc I mean sure is it inefficient? yeah, but inefficient is different from useless, and Kata is not meant to be the primary method of training "practical fighting" that's what kumite/sparring and bunkai are for. Kata is about knowing your body and training precise control over it and your mind, it's much more meditative. To draw the same comparison, someone who only does kata with no kumite is like someone who only shadow boxes with no sparring. The two are meant to synergize
