The HVT that John was assigned to locate in this story was a Afghan named “Gul Ahmed” who according to HUMINT, was said to be living the ultra remote Agam Valley, just below Bin Ladens former sanctuary of Tora Bora.. The Year prior, the battle of Tora Bora was where Delta Forces A Squadron had Bin Laden dead to rights, and a bogus “seize fire” deal took place between the Afghan Northern Alliance and Bin Ladens crippled force. This BS deal bought Bin Laded time to escape through the back passages into Pakistan and evade Americas Hunters for 11 years.. Going back to Gul Ahmed, (the man that John was tasked to locate) was the last known human that aided Bin Ladens escape from Tora Bora and into Pakistan.. Delta Force wanted to capture him to paint the picture of how, when and (where) Bin Laden was. Gul Ahmed is said to be the 1st HVT captured in the GWOT, and Johns singleton mission to this day is said to be the longest one man recce ever conducted in history.

That other bit you’re asking about is just out of Mark Bowdens classic “Black Hawk Down”.. Delta operator Master Sergent John “Mace” Macejunas is the one your referring to.

I've trained with Shrek, best training ever, had lunch and Dinner and drinks with him.... Hes the absolute best, he's so straight forward and can break things down like no one else and make it understandable and relatable, and funny AF and a great story teller.
I think they all are. I keep the door cracked pretending to go to sleep and my husband and his friends make me laugh on their weekend nights off. Also, the opium tea…. I still make that… with kratom.

I’ve seen a few of these podcasts involving men of this caliber and they all seem more clued up than most men in society given they’ve seen how shit life can be and yet they volunteer for even more of it all to protect their families and homeland without hearing a single story from them years past these men are true legends

Listening to this podcast was like listening to Mike interview a 6 year old fixated on watching cartoons. Dude wouldn’t even answer any questions in depth or intellectually.
Mike Drop is one of my favorite podcast but this one was a hard one to listen to, couldn’t even finish it.
He was also kind of a dick to Mike, at several points, and not just the ball busting you’d expect. I thought Mike navigated the interview well!

There are things that he's participated in that shouldn't be known to the general public. He doesn't have a safety net against reprisal since he's a civilian. What do you care. You just want scuttlebutt to tell all your boyfriends that you play Call of Dooty with. And if he uses whiskey as a coping mechanism to get himself through the interview, then so be it.
There are somethings you can tell he didn’t want to get into so deep but navigated around them as he could. It’s kind of weird but what seems impressive to us is not impressive to him so he doesn’t think it’s important.
What you construe as rudeness towards Mike is the difference between a former Delta guy and and a Seal.
Delta guys very very rarely talk about anything they ever did. It's just not their nature. However if one does start telling stories, such as here with Shrek, or , say Kyle Lamb, you can be sure they've cleared every bit of it with their handlers ahead of time.
