    Hi GG, I finished my interview loop on April 18 and received an offer on April 25! This has been the toughest job market I've experienced in a long time and I had almost lost all hope. I was laid off in November 2022 and have been unemployed for almost a year and a half! Your videos made the biggest difference in my interview preparation and I am forever grateful! They were so informative and easy to follow. The interview process at Amazon can be overwhelming, but your videos, especially your Tips and Tricks videos, had the information I needed to help me get the offer. Thank you so much!

    Hi GG, thank you! I've just got an offer from Amazon for a non-technical position (i was heavily scored on the behavioral interviews). I watched all of your videos during my preparation for the loop interview. They are all very informative and on-point and helped me navigate the process. I've watched many CZcams videos about Amazon interviews and think yours are the BEST and the MOST HELPFUL. I just want to say THANK YOU and hope you create more videos for people similar like myself!

    This is true, we sometimes forget that the one doing the interview is also a human being, the first part of my last interview with Amazon was extremely enjoyable, after I answered the “how are you” from the interviewer with a simple 15 seconds reply, I asked them back “how are you, xxx?” They were so evidently surprised by my question, like no one ever asked them that in a long time, even less from someone applying for a job. The second part’s interviewer wasnt as friendly, which made me think it was the reason I didnt pass the behavioural interview, and now I’m watching your videos, thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom!

      Hi Sugandha- yes notes from your earlier round interviews will be read by your panel. So avoid repetition if you can. They're looking for evidence that you are consistently strong. Using the same examples, suggests a limit on you consistently delivering strong performance. If you really feel you have to use the same example, lean very heavily into the elements that pertain to this new LP. You're aiming for only the situation (S) to be the same. Hi there- so you will probably only have time for 2-3 at the end of each interview. I wouldn't recommend asking what you can do better next time. An Amazon interview isn't like most others. Your interviewer shouldn't be making judgements on how you've done there and then they are just meant to be focused on gathering the data. I've had one or two candidates ask me that exact question and it totally threw me, as it wasn't something I had put any thought into at all in the 45min interview. Hope that helps 🧙‍♀️

    Finding these vids very useful to prep for a loop next week - thanks! Question: what should you expect in terms of follow-up questions to a story? Are they likely to ever be in the more adversarial vein of “ok, but give me a different/better example” or do interviewers tend to stick to drilling further into the story you’ve laid out? Not sure whether to prepare for the possibility of an old-school grilling, esp from the bar raiser?!

    • @amazoninterviewwhizzdayone503
      @amazoninterviewwhizzdayone503  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey lordpies- so that's an almost impossible question to answer, because follow up questions are all about the content you just provided. There's no stock follow up questions although some examples are provided in early training. I would hope no Amazonian interviewer takes an adversarial approach, that type of technique is actively discouraged. They're unlikely to ask you for a "better" example, but may ask you for "another" example, if the one you have doesn't speak well to the Leadership Principle they are exploring. Hope that helps. 🧙‍♀️

    • @xiawtde
      @xiawtde Před 3 lety +2

      It's up to the interviewer. Every interviewer has a bit different style and perspective when asking you following-up questions. Mostly asking more details of the case you shared. But my advice is to BE YOURSELF as I later learned the evaluation is not purely based on your answers, but everything counts at the end. I had a few questions in the loop that I thought I answered poorly but later realized that there were other aspects that the interviewers appreciated. Good luck!!

    Hi GG, thank you for sharing such helpful content. Do you have any guidelines around length of (initial) response to an interview question? I've heard somewhere that it should be no longer than 1-2 minutes. I understand that there will be probing questions, but I feel that a minute or two per question for a 45-minute interview seems too short and not the best use of an opportunity to give a full response that showcases your skills. I'd welcome your thoughts!

    Hi GG, First of all thanks for your effort for putting these amazing videos, anyone short on time can rely on them. I got call for a PM role when I was kind of neck deep into current engagement. Could manage to watch your videos randomly and luckily have reached to Loop round. Interview was scheduled next week but now HR informed me position is closed and Hiring Manager wants to consider me for a new yet to be published Sr PM role. Is this normal ? Another point I have already shared my expected salary as it was asked to fill excel before round 2, does that has anything to do here. Request your perspective here.

      Hi qb4s- excellent question. No one has ever asked this before, but I've definitely had experience of this scenario dozens of times. My advice is.....it depends how far into your STARI answer you are. If you're at S, go for it. You won't have lost much time. If you're at T, think twice, be sure it's a MUCH better answer. Once you're at A, forget it. You'll have wasted a ton of time and your interviewer will be irritated that the time and typing will be wasted. I know, as I was that interviewer. I might make a video of this one. Thanks for asking it!

I gave them lots of examples from my projects and described them well too. I think I did really well but about 2 hours after that, they just came back saying while the team liked talking to me, they again reviewed my background and qualifications and have decided to move forward with other candidates. I understand, but it's kind of shows the limitations of an interview as a process. The candidate might be brilliant, but because you didn't vibe, you think the candidate isn't up for the job. That's is an unscientific and unprecis tool if anything.

    • @amazoninterviewwhizzdayone503

      Any process that involves humans is imperfect. That’s the reality of humans. It can then only be a case of mitigating as much of the imperfection as possible. I’d certainly be interested to hear of any corporation that has developed even more effective mitigation processes.

      @@amazoninterviewwhizzdayone503 Well Amazon leadership principles are 100% focus, and I think that way is pretty good. The principles are so fundamental and general that it could be applied to any business clearly to get high performance out of your organization.
      That being said, besides the IQ tests and the big 5 tests, what I think will happen later, is that applicants will go through a simulation of how it is working for the company, and then a test how you apply it. That would messure closer to a real world scenario more than just a sales pitch for example.
      Because unless the company demands that the applicant should know the job before they start, if they want to test an applicants potential rather than just previous knowledge, its pretty much the only way. That and longer internal educational programs before hire.
      Right now the only thing I can think of is companies that have 6 months to 1-2 years of education before you start working for the company. Hästens säng in sweden does that for future leaders. You have a 2 year internal education program that you go through, you get paid will doing it, and when you finnish you get an inside track for a 100% leading position within the company. I know it because I applied for one of those programs. However I didn't pass the test, which ironically was based on an interview.
      There I think they should have based their decision on previous experience perhaps, and a IQ test and a personality test. That way you dont have to go through all the STAR questions that can be 100% fake and all of that.
