Zeke's mouth pissed off more than just Michael! He and Magic were close until Magic tested positive for HIV! Zeke would accuse Magic of contracting aids from homosexuality and question whether Magic should continue playing in the NBA! That animosity continued for almost 30 years until Magic finally forgave Zeke in a televised reunion! Zeke also beefed with Larry Bird when teammate Dennis Rodman claimed Bird would be just another player if he was black! Zeke then publicly agreed with Rodman on TV and the media ran with the story! Detroit's basketbrawl approach to the game caused beefs with the entire NBA & zeke was the ringleader! Jordan was a fierce competitor but zeke and laimbeer were the only 2 Pistons he carries an animosity to the present day with! Depending on whom your favorite team was back then is where allegiance will stick with in terms of right and wrong, but that's my recollection!

True story, though heard it 2nd hand from someone who played with Isaiah in HS. There was a home game against a rival, so things were very heated on the court and in the stands. Isaiah was the youngest brother of like 7 or 8 boys. He was always very well protected by his brothers. So during this game, fights broke out to point at least one of the brothers got directly involved in a fight and was ejected from the building. So things settle down, and they are ready to restart the game, except Isaiah tells Coach Pingatore he will not play unless his brother is allowed back into the building/gym. Lot of back and forth, but Isaiah got his way. Even with Indiana and Bob Knight, Isaiah initially had a lot of trouble with Knight until he eventually caved to him being in charge. But before that point, one of his brothers threatened to beat the crap out of Knight .. this one was a well documented incident.
This is how he has always rolled.- .. always well protected and almost always got his way .. until Jordan took it all away, and now Isaiah is on a mission. Jordan is no saint by any means, but Isaiah is far more deceitful and never truly fought his won battles. He always had a lot of "help".
Isaiah is still a top 5 PG ever ... right up there with Magic, Oscar, Stockton, Kidd, Nash, and Chris Paul. Only ones clearly ahead of Isaiah are Magic, Oscar, and maybe Nash once he went to Suns. So not going to deny his talent. But Jordan was far classier and fought his own battles.
Bottom line, despite the mutual grudge ... in the end, Jordan shook hand after every series the Bulls lost to Pistons. Isaiah, as usual, schemed behind the scenes to get others to do his dirty work ... he told everyone to walk off without shaking the Bulls hands. Only Dumars and Salley refused to listen to Isaiah.
Again, this is how Isaiah has always rolled .. no matter what he did or Jordan did. It is Isaiah;s nature.

I also heard the version where Laimbeer suggested the idea. But make no mistake, this was Isaiah's team, and he would have had to bless it. Only Salley/Dumars (I believe) shook hands. So noting it was most of the team who walked off the court with time still on the clock right past the Bulls bench.
So IMO. it had to be up to Isaiah to agree. Just no way he suddenly took a back seat to Laimbeer in something like that. It was his nature to do stuff like this and hide behind others.

  • @rpesik
    @rpesik Před 2 měsíci

Isiah Thomas deserved a place int The Dream Team.
    Here is why:
    1. People say MJ and many other players does not want Isiah Thomas in the team because of Bad Boys way of playing. This does not make sense. Yes Isiah was a Pistons and the captain, but the strategy came from Chuck Daly. And mostly wasn't Isiah who give the beatings. On the contrary, opposing players beat Isiah Thomas because he was the smaller guy. Why we never heard "I am not playing if Chuck Daly is coaching"? Lakers, Boston, and other teams also played hard physically. Remember when Kurt Rambis was tackled dangerously by the Boston Celtics? Magic Johnson and Karl Malone elbowed Isiah Thomas on the face.
    2. Walk away before time ends. Boston did that. Lakers fans just went into the court before the clock ended.
    3. Thomas had 2 championship, back to back that time. Jordan, had 1 only at that time.
    4. Why put that college guy in while not including Isiah.
Whoever excluded Isiah Thomas, wasn't thinking for the best of the interest of US.
Disclaimer, I am a long time Lakers fans since Magic-Kareem, hated the Bad Boys for beating Lakers. Put MJ as (one of) the best player of all time.

If it wasn't for Isaiah Thomas, Michael Jordan may not have become a superstar. But instead, just been an average player. The bad boys played dirty and hard well getting under the skin of MJ. Is it me or do they have former Michigan State head football coach, Mel Tucker, in this video, when the actual individual who initially confirmed the allegation that Isiah Thomas froze Michael Jordan out of his rookie NBA All-Star Game was Dr. Charles Tucker. The story goes that Dr. Charles Tucker, a psychological adviser to Isiah Thomas and Ervin “Magic” Johnson at that time, told reporters that Thomas and George “Iceman” Gervin denied Jordan the ball to teach him a lesson. Mel Tucker was born in 1972 and would have been approximately 15 years old at the time of the 1986 NBA All-Star Game.

For those of you that have made comments about Isaiah Thomas being jealous of MJ winning 6 rings in Chicago Isaiah's hometown
Please remember that the beef started before MJ had a ring at all. Also remember that Isaiah Thomas has a winning record against MJ in regular season and the playoffs. Isaiah Thomas is one of the few if there are any players that went to Chicago and gave MJ and the Bulls the business. On a more personal level being that I'm from NC MJ is the most arrogant player to play in our state. He wouldn't even sign autographs for kids numerous times. As far as the dream team; everyone knew Isaiah Thomas was better than John Stockton. He even showed it after the team was chosen. Detroit played Utah after the team was selected and from the start to the finish of that game Isaiah Thomas looked so focused that everyone could tell he took things personal. 44 points later Isaiah and the Pistons beat Utah it was all over every sports news how Isaiah made Stockton look so bad. I'm grateful I got to watch the many battles between Isaiah Thomas and MJ. I remember all of those moments MJ walked off the court in disgust after losing to Isaiah and the Pistons. Especially the losses in Chicago. I'm also glad that I don't participate in the GOAT discussion. How can MJ be the GOAT when he has a losing record against Isaiah Thomas and Larry Bird. MJ never won a playoff series against Larry Bird. In my opinion MJ is one of the greatest of all time along with Magic, Bird, Dr J and many other greats.

Let's get this straight. Jordan. Don't hate Isaiah. Isaiah hates Jordan because Jordan came to Chicago. Isaiah is a native of Chicago even though he played on the Detroit Pistons team. The Chicago fans still loved Isaiah because he went to college there and played. He grew up there so they loved him. But when Jordan came that was all over with and they were boasting and bragging about Jordan and not Isaiah in his hometown of Chicago. Even though he played for Detroit, he didn't like that and then there's that infamous college Olympic team game against the NBA stars. Yeah that just really done it right there that caused Isaiah Thomas to call the rest of the players to do a lockout on Michael Jordan. Even though they are all representing the east in the All-Star game, he convinced the other eastern stars to not pass. Michael Jordan the ball and he's on his team who hates who. Yeah get your facts right. Isaiah started that Isaiah is the one that walked off the court when the bulls pushed past them and didn't even want to shake Michael Jordan's hand. That wasn't Michael Jordan at the end of every game when the Pistons eliminated Chicago. Guess what. Michael Jordan shook all their hands spoke to them all of that they didn't show him the same respect. So again I say who hates who see this is what happens when you get people that make a page that didn't live through the event. They're only looking at what people is telling them and showing them. You have to beat and live through it to know what you're talking about. Other than that, stop making these pages with the wrong information. Get your fax straight

Much of your commentary is waaaay off..and not worthy of attention..first of all Thomas was not a dirty player..he was a pesky player ...he might grab your jersey, go at the ball aggressively but there is no footage anywhere of Thomas trying to hurt another player or doing the kind of stuff Bill Lambier, Rodman, Mchale, Danny Ainge, John Stockton, Karl Malone and many other players at that time were doing..Magic elbowed isiah in the throat in game 6 of the Finals in 1988 but nobody says Magic is a dirty player..McHale clothslined Rambis in 86 but nobody calls Mchale a dirty player....Rodman use to push Pippen around aggressively like he was a child, but the Bulls brought him on board in the 90's . Does anyone think that coach Chuck Daly had nothing to do with the Jordan rules and the physicalithy layed on Jordan by Rodman and Salley..but yet Chuck Daly was selected as coach of the Dream team but isiah wasn't selected as a player is a travesty to the highest degree .Isiah has never had a fight in the league with anyone his size... his fights were always against bigman who elbowed him when he penetrated the lane...example Bill Cartwright, Robert Parish and the cheap shot that nearly knocked him out and gave him 41 stitches over the eye from Karl Malone. Secondly the whole freezeout BS is exactly that BS...check the stats MJ had an off night he went 2 -9 ..(news alert MJ is not God ..he could have an off night) he took 9 shots ...more than anybody else on the team as a rookie with the exception of perrenial allstars Dr. J, Bird, Isiah, (who had the hot hand 9-14..and if you really play ball you would know that the hot hand is the guy who has the green light to shoot and Isiah was red hot and most of his teammates were not ...only Bird, Cummings and Isiah were the only 3 players on the team that shot over 50%) MJ went 2-9 which means he got the ball from Zeke more than Bernard King a pereenial allstar, Kevin Mcahale a perrenial allstar, Bill Lambier (Isiahs own teammate) and Moses Malone a perrenial allstar. Isiah was an allstar and played in allstar games with these guys for 3 years before MJ came into the league..so he was obviuosly more use to playing with them than a rookie. and made sure everybody got there touches including the rookie Jordan..but if you think he was soupposed to just give the ball to a rookie Jordan and ignore perrenial allstar teammates like Bird, Dr. J, Moses Malone, Mchale etc..just to please the rookie your a fool. Also remember the coach of the allstar team was none other than Celtic coach KC Jones..so most of the plays were drew up for Larry Bird which is why Bird took 16 shots (more than anybody else except Terry Cummings who got most of his shots off offensive rebounds..The notion that Isiah or any other player had enough clout to overrule the allstar coach and freeze out another player is absurd to anyone who really knows basketball...but nobody is blaming KC Jones for a so called MJ freezeout...because there was none..its just another way to try and demonize Isiah ...the freezeout was a big lie MJ made up to motivate himself ..he even admitted that himself. Do your research and check the facts instead of demonizing Isiah..because your just following what you heard other people say, with knowing the facts

Here's my full analysis between the (Bulls♦️ & Detroit ⬆️ I'd understood perfectly that (Chicago got their ass beaten then for 3 straight years 88,89,90 but that's because (Chicago didn't had such a great team those years. Because (Scottie pippen was a rockie and new to the NBA league. He's game didn't develope untill 1991 which also was the year that (Michael Jordan develope He's shooting ability. That's why they were able to sweep (Detroit ⬆️ that year. Because MJ and pippen change their game and became outside shooters. Which (Detroit didn't expect for MJ to create shots from shooting..but back in the 80's Jordan was attacking the boards and it allow the (Pistons to make a stop on the lower post. It makes sense now why (Chicago swept the Pistons ⬆️ in 1991 because MJ became a different player. That's what made him the best after that. Because all he needed to do is develope that jump shot. in which he did embarrassed the (Detroit that year of 1991...it's crazy how Detroit players didn't want to continue competing the following season of 1992. Because they realized that (Chicago team was different and had develope their shooting abilities. I just think that (Detroit gave up and didn't want to continue pursuing for competition. While MJ and the bull's kept a consistent winnings through the entire 1990'era

Bottom Line: Isiah Thomas 3, Michael Jordan 1, the one Jordan got, Thomas GAVE TO HIM.
The Facts: Isiah Thomas took just 9 shots in game 1 and 9 shots in game 2 of the 1991 ECF; Chuck Daly played John Salley only 9 minutes in game 2 and James Edwards only 11 minutes in game 2 and 9 minutes in game 3; Bill Laimbeer only took 7 shots in game 1 and 2 shots in game 2 while Dumars only took 10 shots in game 1 and 10 shots in game 3. If you do that versus anybody YOU WILL LOSE! If the Pistons did this vs. Atlanta or Boston they would have LOST but they did this vs. Chicago in '91, a team they defeated 3 straight years and dominated from 1988-1990 with a 26-9 record, going for a 3-peat?
Reverse: Michael Jordan takes 9 shots in game 1 and 9 shots in game 2 of the 1991 ECF; Pippen takes just 7 shots in game 1 and 2 shots in game 2; Phil Jackson plays Grant 11 minutes in game 2 and 9 minutes in game 3 while Cartwright gets just 11 minutes in game 2... If the Bulls do this in 1991 vs. Detroit or even 1993 going for a 3-peat vs. NY, WOULD YOU REALLY THINK THEY ARE TRYING TO WIN?!!!??!!?
This is what the Pistons did as a unit, they went out on their own terms their own way. The 3-guys that led the 'walk-off' were all from Chicago: Mark Aguirre, Bill Laimbeer, and Isiah Thomas. Detroit let Chicago win in 1991 and then walked off and then broke up that championship team: ON PURPOSE!
