  • The Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls had one of the greatest rivalries in sports history during the Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas years.
The year is 1989, and it is the Eastern Conference Finals. Isiah Thomas and his Pistons have yet to win an NBA championship, but have made the NBA Finals previously (the year before). The Bulls, led by Jordan, are looking for make their first finals during the Jordan-era. Detroit is up 3-2 in the series and the Lakers are waiting for the winner. Detroit is attempting to close out the series on the road in Chicago Stadium.
This video will showcase two legendary guards -- Jordan and Thomas -- going at it in game 6 of the 1989 ECF. All of their highlights (not just their made field goals) will be showcased in this thorough highlight video.
    Enjoy!

Thomas always had the more loaded team, even in the year he got swept by Bulls, so I don't blame Jordan for losing to Pistons a lot. In 88, Pistons had Thomas, Dumas and Dantly, 3HOFers. In 89 & 90, Dantly was gone but Aguirre joined and Rodman matured into DPOY and became an all star. All Jordan had during those years was an under-development Pippen. Once Pippen matured in 90s, there's no looking back. In 91 Bulls with only 2 HOFers in Jordan & Pippen swept Pistons w/ 3 HOFers in Thomas, Dumas and Rodman. And there goes the myth that Jordan never beat a super loaded team.

If that didn't work, Jordan does a palm dribble and stutter step and jumps into a back pedaling defender and gets a foul. If he didn't get the call and gets hung up in the air, THEN, and only then would he pass. No wonder the Piatons wiped the floor with that GARBAGE team.
