  • 2019 saw 20 years since The Scottish Parliament opened and HM Queen Elizabeth was present, as she has always been, to officially open the parliament.
    The Scots Guards escort the crown of Scotland from Edinburgh Castle down The Royal Mile and to the Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood.
    HM Queen Elizabeth and her eldest son Prince Charles arrive at the Scottish Parliament after driving up from Holyrood Palace in a Bentley.

    As always truly impressive.
    As a piper I'm drawn to details
    the Corporal piper is a "leftie"
    interesting but nothing to write home about.
    now, the sergeant piper (second from the right)
    he apparently has a shorter right-hand ring finger.
    THAT is probably overcoming a whole new
    level of complicated, My hats off to all the band
    but in particular to these two gentlemen.

    • @MrPossumeyes
      @MrPossumeyes Před rokem

      Cheers, man. Lefties are special no matter what they do - corporal or not, ordered to or not, doing stuff with your left hand competently is just magical. No arguments. As for the sergeant playing with a slightly less than adequate forefinger - when tasked he probably said "Yes, SIR!" and set about doing it. Scots, right?
      You want crazed maniacs racing at you out of the heather waving Claymores during a political ruction? Better hope they're Scotsmen and on your side.
      And then there's their women! Oh my word. You thought the men were fierce? Well, the ladies might look slight and dainty but ....well, you have been warned. Say no more. Unless you're a bit dim ... Scots chicks are hot, but dangerous, ok? Ok, then.
      But, oh, those pipes!! How they can wail! How they can soothe me! How they can anger me! There is no other instrument that can wind me up like them! Oh, the pipes!!!

    Find it a little funny. There is a police escort to a battalion of infantry with probably live rounds on those mags.

      Being ceremonial, I wouldn't think so BUT, being active Royal Marines and as this is a more official escort duty, perhaps they do. Either way, they have a nasty looking, pointy bit on the end, which I'm sure would give you one bugger of a scratch! 😲
