How much does Beijing control Taiwan's legislature?

- CCP's influence operatives have strategically infiltrated Taiwanese politics. This was evident three days before Lai Ching-te's inauguration, when a melee erupted in Taiwan's parliament, resulting in five legislators being injured and one being hospitalized. The day after his inauguration, protests, both inside and outside Taiwan's parliament, further highlighted the calculated nature of these actions. These events align with Xi Jinping's Taiwan strategy, unveiled months ago by a China expert who obtained insider information. He said the CCP's strategy revolves around two high-profile Taiwanese politicians with pro-CCP leanings.
1. Lai Ching-te's inauguration
2. Chaos in Taiwan's Legislature and public protests
3. Xi Jinping's Taiwan strategy revealed
4. Is Taiwan's "house speaker" a Beijing operative?

Love Taiwan
Love Taiwanese people
Beautiful country that I had the privilege of living in for many years
I live in Taiwan, during the presidential campaign on 2020, the KMT candidate Han Kuo Yu was everywhere, his face was printed in all the buses, all the magazines, all TV channels, everywhere, it was absurd the amount of advertisement and media coverage this guy had. But even that he still lost. Not sure why he is the congress speaker now, he was not elected as part of the parliament.
This guy is a crook. No doubt about it
Just like Lei, what surprised me was how he won the Mayor's race in Gaoxiong. It seems like he must have had some 'help' of some kind. Same thing with becoming 立法院長. In the U.S., while it's never happened, the House Speaker is not required to be a member of Congress. It sounds like Taiwan copied that from us.
I just read the article Lei linked to and it's really surprising. Normally I don't usually believe people who are supposed to have inside information about the CCP, but this case seems to be real. In the section "國台辦出台...", the paragraph that begins with "第三項" describes almost exactly what happened in the Taiwan legislature a few days ago. If this is true, Han Guoyu is more than just a crook, he's a traitor. That article should be spread around Taiwan social media if it hasn't already.
It is good you are saying unification and not reunification like other channels Lei, keep up the good work.
The Taiwanese parliament will probably block the new president every move…but at least they have a leader prepared to defend their island.
I knew that although the DPP won the top position in the country, they failed to win a majority in the legislature. The CCP's strategy and tactics would be to utilize this to sow discord, chaos, division, and dissent - virtually establishing gridlock. And, so it begins. This is what they also strive to do (and do) in the US.
Great video! I think the reason for trying to force the high speed rail project without review is because adding such an expensive burden to the budget could result in a reduction in defense spending, something that China obviously wants.
It's not clear that this will ultimately be good for the KMT because what they are doing is too obvious and irresponsible, and more of the public may begin to see the dishonesty and have less respect for them. That's why there are protests. The KMT have been trying to change their pro-Beijing image and this will hurt them. The TPP is also risking their future. A lot of younger voters chose the TPP as a compromise between the two other parties, and the younger voters don't like these attempts to weaken democracy. It's not what they expected from the TPP.
Exactly!
Some need to investigate economic ties to the CCP.
It isn't well known? The ccp has made many key westerners millionaires and billionaires. Easy to do when you enslave billions of people.
Thanks, Lei! Another good report!!
thks for analysis! aloha fr hawaii!
Good that you’re bringing Taiwan into the picture by looking at their politics now . More interesting 😊
Thank you Lei for this brilliant episode; for me, China shouldn’t be all over the place; I’m a Malaysian and I know that this CCP has been working closely with one of our political parties; I don’t know what their ultimate objective is but us who are pro democracy people are being intimidated everywhere; bye bye CCP, what a crazy regime. 😓.
Lei: Have you heard about the zombie drug that is coming out of Hing Kong?

Hi Ms Lei ! Good day 2 U ! Would like to convey my sincere thanks on ur interesting & helpful vlogs re: PRC / CCP / Xi Jinping updates on China situation & their hegemonic expansionsm / greedy invasion to small countries. God Bless ur vlog channel...❤💐🌹❤️🙏🙏🙏from 🇵🇭& likeminded cialition forces
The people forgot their history.
We are all Chinese !
I know nothing but want to say China influences Taiwan quite a bit, it just makes sense for all the stuff we actually do know that China is doing around the world.
good work
That high speed rail makes no sense. Taiwan is a small island and the current high speed rail gets you from one end to the other in about two hours. Also the way the coalition went about getting that proposal approved was very unusual. Seems eerily similar to the way the folks across the Taiwan strait do things. This is highly alarming. Folks in Taiwan need to wake up and realize what’s going on.
The KMT wants to waste Taiwanese money as ordered by the CCP.
The current demonstrations in Taiwan due to that policy and the military training drills happening at the same time. It’s no coincidence. Things seem to be going as was planned.
Nations need not to follow 'one china' policy which is not even int'l law.. for china itself is not respecting int'l ruling 'UNCLOS' on west Philippines sea.. let us all stands together against the bully.
I agree 100%. Taiwan should be internationally recognized as an independent country NOW!!!!
Lei. Thanks for the report. Question. Why was China 🇨🇳 doing that to Taiwan.? 😂😂😂😂
42:07 if it bothers you, find them and invit'em for tea!...
Where is 240p?
14:30 Lei, please review the meaning of protagonist. Most of us that are against the CCP would not refer to KMT leaders as protagonists. Subtle but keeps meaning clear.
There seems to be problem in some detailing in the legislative constitution. How is it that a party leader without an elected seat, such as Han be allowed to be Legislature's speaker. Typically, one would think that they would have be elected in a congressional district before they can be a functional leader.
1 Yes,
but the sucess of the interference makes invasion a little less likely.
They don't need to invade if everyone is doing what they want and if they have put their puppet candidates into the government

Lei, can you talk about Mayor Alice Guo of Bamban, Philippines. Can you give insight if there is a possibility that she is a CCP planted politician in the Philippines or she indeed a Filipino Chinese that is just connected to the Chinese underworld.
I went to see a fight and a parliament broke out.
The Red 'throne' banner refers to Han assuming the speakers chair, or throne...your interpretation seems off. But, the CCP's United Front Works Department is trying to rip Taiwan's confidence in electoral democracy apart, as they do In most democratic states. for example, Australia, Canada and the UK have had explicit election and Gov. interference.

What PPC did in Hongkong is being done in Taiwan! Thug-ism
21:30 the second High-Speed Rail is through the remote earthquake prone eastern coast of Taiwan. My educated guess that the motive behind the opposition fifth column parties (KMT & TPP) to push this bill through is because the CCP plans to turn the eastern coasts of Taiwan to PLA military / submarine bases, and they needed ease of access to that part of the island. Currently there's only one Highway that runs through the entire region.

KMT kowtows to CCP
According to the Democracy perception index 2024 , the US is viewed most positively in these countries -
Kenya , Vietnam , India , Phillipines , Nigeria and Israel .
US's perception of US comes below these countries .
How funny is that ? 😀
Distance lends enchantment to the view
Any thoughts on the current Tiananmen Square 2.0 happening in China now?
Inthey call thenslves Overseas "Chinese" I very highly doubt they are Taiwanese.

O lady just give a balance report
Reminder to Taiwan about the Cairo declaration and Shanghai communiques
If France, self-proclaimed birthplace of democracy, self-proclaimed international sole representative of the "(white) Human Rights", can't let go of its former colony, Nouvelle Caledonie, I can assure you that the Chinese, as a nation, as a race, they will never let go of Taiwan. Just curious to see if the Chinese will be as united as are Japanese for instance... and find a workable one-country, two system, better than the one in HK.
As long as China is under Communist rule, there's no way.
France is the birthplace of Revolution.
Democracy is far older, from the time of Ancient Greece.
Yeah the world turns a blind eye to France.
I'm sure if the mainland were democratic it wouldn't be so opposed in grabbing Taiwan.
This lei is AI robot talk 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜 freedom country salute Hongkong 😅😅😅
Your English is quite poor
Talk about "reality." Don't confuse yourself with politics.
Oh Taiwan Karen … it’s simple as much as the Lobbyist and Big Corps control the senate in the democratic U S A 😂😂
li , you sound like a CIA operative
You sound like a person who wants democracy
Lady you don't about China. Taiwan is a province of China. Please read more about China history..
Since when has CCP captured Taiwan in history.
Less than 20% of the people who voted for blue or white camps in the legislator election want to be controlled by Ccp but sarcastically Ccp can controll the leaders including legislators of blue or white camps effectively and tell them what they should do in legislation yuan.
