    Heyyyy lovelies, I mentioned in my previous video that I planned to top coat these. Several of you asked that I bring you along and film the process. I decided to then do a comparison video on the best ways to protect your resin when Top Coating. I decided to use Latex, PVA glue (school glue) in some places, of course not forgetting my GO TO of Masking tape. I am also showing you a 4th way to protect your resin but I won't use this method so it is not shown fully in the video.
    In this video I am using Glass Cast 3 .. not sponsored ! lol It is my Go To resin for Top Coating. My next recommendation would be Rapids by Vista however I have not used this enough in Top Coating.

    So in Texas it’s time for bed. I’m a little stressed for some reason, so I decided I needed me a little… Claire! Honestly, I didn’t even watch the vid, though I’m sure it was very interesting. I just put my AirPods in, closed my eyes, and listened to your charm and wit. You always make me smile and as it turns out, you are a pretty good

    I’m waiting for my first bottle of liquid latex to arrive; so far I’ve only ever used masking tape… but I’d not heard of using PVA glue until just now!
    I do quite a few resin ocean boards, a lot of which are wood… I highly doubt the glue would work for these as PVA is essentially a wood glue?!? But… I’ve decided to try it out anyway, by applying the glue to a piece of scrap plywood and seeing if I can actually remove it, once it’s dried! Here’s hoping! 🤞 🤞🤞

You say people will likely comment about using too much but that is the better way to go. Love learning from you ❤️
    When you said it looks like a window the experimental part of my brain went berserk! What if you could restrict the top coat pour to a perfectly centered circle leaving the misty looking sanded border untouched? If it were possible, then I'd put a sprinkle of crystal chips along the edge of the resin circle 'window'. Once cured, you'd have your circular window with a sparkling tactile border with the gauzy rim. Id always be picking it up and peering through the fairy window. Of course it would end up covered by my fingerprints from feeling the textures 😖.
    This is how my brain works 😅
    PS the crystal chips are from my nail art stash. You could use glitter or guilding flakes or even micro glass beads. I immediately thought of the crystal because it would look something like a geode. Seemed like a great fit for the botanical theme.

    Hi Claire, again great video and even greater coasters 🥰🥰
    Claire please I need your help cus honestly I'm losing it, I've made around 32 coasters for my online shop and I'm trying to topcoat them before the launch but it seems I can't get a shiny surface I've tried many times and always the results differ from sticky to fish skin or dry skin look or like dusty look, I tried once tu use a heat resistant resin and it was disastrous the resin started curing in the first 10 minutes and ended up throwing it. I'm really desperate and whenever I think of topcoating I get like a panic attack.
    I don't heat my resin, I live in a cold house we use gas heater so the place isn't that warm, I don't cover the coasters while they're curing. Do you think it's one of these factors that may be the issue? If you don't mind what resin do you recommend and I can find here in Italy? Thank you in advance and so sorry to disturb you again but I'm really lost and desperate.

    • @ClairesCraftyCorner
      @ClairesCraftyCorner  Před 2 lety +1

      Heyyyyyy Sevsen... it will be all of those factors i'm afraid. Even if you heat your resin you still need the room to be between 20/21 and 23 degrees for it to not cloud over and go sticky. If the room is cold this will absolutely be the reason for it not working out xx You might benefit from a heat mat .. but at your own risk of course x

    • @FuatSevsen
      @FuatSevsen Před 2 lety

      @@ClairesCraftyCorner thank you so much Claire, I was thinking the room temperature may be the real problem because when I first started making the coasters I was somewhere else where the radiators were at 23 I had no problem with the resin being sticky maybe some air bubbles stuck on the surface cus I didn't have a torch or a heat gun. All my pieces came out so bad and sticky thank Allah it's just the back so I will work the top 4 by 4 coasters so I can get the area warm enough and be able to cover them. So much work but this is what it is when you start a new journey....learning, learning.....
