With tears in my eyes I type thisâŠas a Gen Xâer I consider DMB the greatest band of my generation. My heart erupts with joy when the younger generations are introduced to Daveâs music. Your reaction was priceless! Blessings be upon you thank you for sharing. đđ»
Only saw DMB live twice but the first time was a month before LeRoi passed away, which Iâm so grateful I got to witness the original members play together. I had never listened to DMB before that concert but went with a friend and they instantly became one of my favorite bands.
You might also have a powerful and emotional reaction to hearing the same duo perform "The Maker". It's not an original song, but played with the same level of emotion. In fact, the whole album from Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City has a very emotional feel to it. Amazing performers together. Dave is equally amazing when performing with the full band, especially their original group when saxophonist LeRoi Moore was still alive.
Dave writes all of the lyrics and most of the music. He always gives 110%, and just dumps his soul in the middle of the stage for us to pick up! Thanks, Sarah for another great reaction!
Great reactions, Dave writes all of his songs. You were spot on with the interpretation of the lyrics. A lot of his songs deal with death as he was exposed to it at a young age, losing his father as a child and his sister very early in his career.
When watching reactions to certain songs/performances especially this one, it becomes easy to see the person's heart which says so much about them as a whole. You definitely have a kind spirit, compassion for others, and true love/fear of "our" father. God bless.
An amazing performance, as you know I don't think there is anybody out there today that does it better. I think I'm gonna make my way back over to your Patreon and rewatch your DMB reactions They make me smileđđ
@@SarahDengler because it was THAT good. A Dave & Tim show is MUCH deferent than a Dave Matthews Band show.. Radio City is not very big.. in comparison to the stadiums & arenas the band play.. MUCH more intimate.. it was almost like just hanging out w some friends who happen to be Dave & Tim..
If my memory serves I think Daveâs sister was murdered by her husband so the reference to his sister in this song and his anguish may be about his devastation after her murder. Dave and his younger sister Jane adopted his late sisterâs surviving daughter and son. The song Dreaming Tree was inspired by their love for the book The Giving Tree. I highly recommend you listen to it as well as Grey Street.
If you want your mind BLOWN.. check out All Along The Watchtower from Central Park.. itâs a bit long but I promise itâs worth it.. 110k people.. being there was a religious experience
I've watched so many of these react videos to this performance. My suggestion to people if they ever want to give DMB a try (since there's so much mainstream dislike for him for no reason), DMB-Listener Supported then Dave and Tim @ Radio City. Once you work through those 2 albums, I just don't think there's anyway you can walk away not in love with what they're doing on stage.

Please know you are dead on. Dave is the writer of his songs and he has had the most pain. His sister was murdered by her partner. He is also South African.
He's asking for salvation in Christ. Salvation from the trappings of this fallen and doomed world. Salvation from indwelling sin. Deeply Theological and spiritual.
@@JohnDavis-mu9je Yes, exactly how I have always interpreted this song. Also I think the guy is an alcoholic, possibly to the point of being near death...and he is desperate for his life, fearing death and regretting his life choices. Idk...that's how I take it anyway

Seeing people find Dave for the first time just FILLS ME UP!
I've seen this live many times but I still get goosebumps and tears..Dave writes all his songs.

Seen them live three times, front row once. Amazing band with superior talent 100%.
Seen them 45 times...in the Moore/ Tinsley days....Gorge, Red Rocks...oh the memories...the 90's were a truly magical time

Heard it many many times before, one of my absolute favorite bands, but this time it made me cry.
It's so powerful

I'm not a real emotional man, but every time I hear this is make me tear up. Very emotional and powerful song.
Sarah, treat yourself to a listen to a whole live concert of DMB. You will be transported out of body.

Amazing song and you broke it down perfectly. You are beautiful and amazing too đđ„

He has a few covers that he didn't write, but I think he plays them better than the original.
Always kills me. Thank you. And yes, he is the writer of the song.

This song was written soon after his uncle passed. His father passed when he was young, so his uncle was like a father to him.
My entire soul cried with joy when I finally heard this song live SPAC 2022đ„č
Wow! What an awesome song and performance. Brilliant! Thanks Sarah! đ

His older accoustic show with Tim Reynolds at Red Rocks is legendary 3:59
Music is supposed to make a tear form in the corner of the eye and a smile in the corner of your mouth.
Wow! is right, there are almost no words to describe the depth and beauty of this song! Thank you for sharing.
He writes all his songs. LOVED you're reaction.
Thanks for sharing Sarah... a really emotional experience for me listening to the song and your discussion. Peace and love.
Fun fact. Dave was born in South Africa and still to this day spends time there with his family to connect with his roots

If I go before I'm old
Oh, brother of mine please don't forget me
If I go
Bartender, please
Fill my glass for me
With the wine you gave Jesus
That set him free
After three days in the ground
Oh and if I die
Before my time
Oh sweet sister of mine
Please don't regret me
If I die
Bartender, please
Fill my glass for me
With the wine you gave Jesus that set him free
After three days in the ground
I'm on bended knees, I pray
Bartender, please
When I was young I didn't think about it, now I can't get it outof my mind
I'm on bended knees, father please
Oh if all this gold
Should steal my soul away
Oh, dear mother of mine please redirect me
If this gold
Bartender, you see
The wine that's drinking me
Came from the vine that stung Judas
From the devil's tree
It's roots deep, deep in the ground
I'm on bended knees, oh bartender please
I'm on bended knees, father please
When I was young I didn't think about it now I just wanna run andhide
I'm on bended knees, oh bartender please
Bartender, please
