Commuting to and from work is an American pastime. For some it's a long drive through traffic, or a series of walks and subway stops, but a very lucky few will ride to work this morning on a mountain bike.
Mountain bikes are designed to travel through the rugged terrain found on mountain bike trails, so by definition they are quite durable. Potholes, curbs, and alternate routes are no problem. Strangely enough, the mountain bike might be the ultimate urban commuter vehicle. They're ready for everything.
When you commute on a mountain bike there's no such thing as traffic. Come to think of it you can circumvent roads altogether. Roads are no fun on a mountain bike anyway.
You should also consider fuel consumption. While cars run on gas, diesel, or electricity, bikes generally run on tacos. We all know how much those cost. Instead of wearing out like a car engine, your body gets faster, leaner, and stronger as it converts tacos into pedal strokes. What does your bike run on?
When you have a stressful day dealing with clients or coworkers, the ride home on your mountain bike is a healthy way to channel your rage. You can ride like a maniac without endangering others, and that's something special. If you were to get into a car with a head full of stress it might land you in an accident or a fist fight. Here in Florida It's quite common for motorists to get in gun fights during rush hour. As fun as that sounds, I’ll stick to riding off of stuff on my mountain bike.
By far the best thing about commuting by mountain bike is that you’re riding a vehicle that was engineered to have fun on. If you’re an active person who craves excitement, there’s no better way to kick off your morning. If you have some extra time, dicking around on your mountain bike is a guaranteed way to put a smile on your face.
So to those who choose to commute on a mountain bike, we salute you. Today, you'll take the road less traveled, and traverse routes with no roads. Because of you, there's one less car on the road, and one more reason to eat tacos. Thanks for riding with me today and I'll see you next time.

Not sure if my message posted, but I need you guys to share the crap out of this. These shots were a lot of work!
What bike do you use?
+aloi dango he has bike check video
+Seth's Bike Hacks Just curious, does FPD ever mess you? Anyway Thank you for all the awesome content Seth, Love your channel!
+☯ Everyday Vegan ⓥ Actually they're a freaking awesome police force. They never waste their time messing with me, but they keep my neighborhood really safe. Always really courteous and organized.
Wow surprising as a kid I got messed with a lot by FPD when skateboarding. Watching you jumping all over the tables and benches I just assumed. That's really cool to hear. I live in Sunrise and Work in Ft Laud. I was thinking about riding Critical Mass in Jan.
My bike is powered by hummus and shattered dreams!
lol
+Cobra Kyle Love it. Mine is powered by sauerkraut and social anxiety!
Cobra Kyle there is gonna be a show on CZcams red called cobra Kyle, it has some of the cast of the karate kid
Good ole white people fad food. Everyone pretending to like hummus all of sudden.
Mine is powered by hate and hangovers
My morning Cycle to school on my 15 year old mountain bike is one of the best parts of the day. I may be a little sweaty for the first class but I'll also be smiling
how long is your ride
i always go to school by my Scott voltage yz3
Bluewolf25 5 -10 mins to school, 10 - 15 back
Tobias Soar I can relate to this on so many levels
I get to ride down a hill that I can only assume is 200+ feet when I ride to school. So it's 11 minutes there and 20+ minutes back
How many miles per Taco do you get?
Let's assume a taco is about 300 calories...10 miles per taco on the mountain bike? Less than an Uber ride by a longshot.
+Seth's Bike Hacks a gallon of gas has some ~31k callories, so even if your car gets 35mpg, that is still some 9000 callories on your 10 mike commute, or to put it another way, a bike is 30x more effecuent than a 35mpg car. pretty good.
not to mention that if your food is plant based (veggie taco, anyone?), you are basically eating sequestered carbon dioxide.
Zev Hoover my brain glitched reading your comment
TheGearhead327350 thats a very good question
To ride 10 Miles I need more than 1 taco.
Point of video : eat tacos ride mountain bikes
+megakra2 precisely
Seth's Bike Hacks my bike runs on Dosa (south Indian pancakes 😂)

Plazine Productions beautiful country 10/10 would bang

bro! so great to see you in the comments of seths vids!, love your channel!
Hello
Well fancy meeting you here
The amazing lack of replies here is astounding. And yes it is nice to see you here I bet he likes biking :D
I love commuting on my mountain bike, but being in high school means I'm also carrying a 20 lb backpack haha. And the shots and cinematography were amazing!
+Ian O'Neill Makes you a better rider though. Train hard and heavy in the week, ride fast and light at the weekend.
+Liam J my thoughts
+Liam J weight training is the best training
Same 4 me!
Mike a rack is nice for backpacks
Hey, I might seem like the biggest fanboy, but I've found your channel couple days ago. I have watched every one of your videos even tough I knew how to perform some of the tricks /hacks to see if you do it differently, I am addicted to your channel. I'm currently on a holiday and a new video always puts a huge smile on my face :)
+dartwadermovies Cool man, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. They're a lot of work, and comments like this keep me motivated!
seth is turning more and more into Danny Macaskill every video
+Jordan Keeler He already has an Inspired bike haha
Jordan Keeler except Seth doesn't have that weird accent like Danny
I love Danny's accent
Fuck nah
I have commuted on my mountain bike every day for the last three years. Love it.
Keep up the good work Seth. Your vids always inspire me to get out for a ride, even if I can't get out to the trails. You've shown how to have fun even in the urban jungle.
Really well put together video. I really dig all the cool bunny hops!
Wow, your camera man was really smooth in transition and following. When you bunny hop onto stuff, the camera smoothly follows. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, literally grunting and making weird sounds, especially at the end when you were riding that skinny. So true, tacos for days haha, human fuel. Thanks for the video, so epic man! That shadow derailleur must be really good and the tubeless conversion seems to be holding up. Also the different thumbnail; a new look into 2016. Can't wait, keep it up Seth!
Love your channel Seth,. This video is inspirational! Greetings from Canada,.
This is a huge improvement of quality! With the slide shots and everything keep up the good work
The gimbal / steadicam sequence at 0:19 is a beaut. Props to the operator!
one of the funniest vids you've made Seth. cheers
Love it! A bike is such a great compromise in cost, speed, and fun!
During quarantine my bike runs on boredom and the will to do something besides going insane indoors
Honestly, that was one of your best, if not the best video you ever made🖒
Awesome video, love the usage of a gimble. Makes the video so awesome to watch.
Great video Seth, keep up the good work!
Your videos are put together in such a professional fashion. Better than many tv shows.
one of your best edits yet i dare say ! love that footage and your skill keep up the good work !!
That video was sick! Great work.
The videography and stunts you did on this video was awesome!
Ur videos are getting better and better!
Wow! Great editing and camera shots... very well put together, I will share it with my riding buddy lol

I would like to say thank you for learning me to bunnyhop :)
Of all of my subscriptions (50+) your channel is one of the few that i get very excited when there is a new video. Especially these edit-like videos. Keep up the good work! #mybikerunsontacos

All over your videos are awesome and ive recieved a lot of useful information thanks to your channel! While i currently commute with my Allez roadie, I had to check this video out. I found your taco fuel pedal stroke conversion line fucking spot on. Keep 'em coming!
That clip at end was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice video bro. Always love different scenery... plus the bike riding skills are dope👌
The filming was extra good in this vid can tell there was some good effort put in!
As someone who grew up on Las Olas and no longer lives there this was a nice flashback to downtown and victoria park. Thanks Seth.
Very well done video! Including some good shots and risky minouvers. Great video again Seth!

sick shots
Today's video features extra sweet riding! Good one
Great video Seth!
Every year I ride lots of miles commuting to work on a mountain bike and it is absolutely amazing. I feel so sorry for all those poor folks who are sitting in their cars. If only they knew how simple it is to be happy.
Awesome video
Really love your videos, Seth. Been watching a ton of them. I ride to work a lot, and this one especially makes me want to find some stuff to bang off of on the way to work. Wish I had half your mad skills though!
Awesome riding, i've just added 'learn to ride like seth' to my 2016 goals! Looking forward to your channel in 2016, there's something very classy about the way you cut together a video. Shared.
Hi, I've recently bought a mountain bike. To be exact it's an Apollo Gradient, full suspension and 21 gears (I think: 3 on the left 7 on the right) and I've already had it swimming in mud, I clean it all the time and the best part about it is my buddy next door does mountain bike racing and stuff, he services his own bike too! I'm finding your channel really helpful, it helps the fact you go into great detail when explaining tutorials and how things work. I'm only 12 so this really helps! Thanks man!
This was a really good video. Funny too.
Excellent video, I ride a Specialized Rockhopper 29er 23inch frame 2015, before that a Diamondback Response xe, been riding year round since 2012. I live in Davenport Iowa, and we get all kinds of weather here. Commuting by bike is the best desicion I ever made! At 35 I am in the best shape of my life, daily commute 20-25 miles. I get about a hundred miles to the gallon of chocolate milk!
Great video Seth!
If only I could ride to work!
Your voice alone makes me want to subscribe.
I work on a shotgun range in the middle of know where so when I have ti ride down the driveway (2.3 miles long) I opt for the woods next to it which takes me to the range and naturally there is a black diamond trail on there with a few kickers and table tops to start me off and finish me aswell so this video has my full support and encouragement
just wonderful
I visited Fort Lauderdale this April and I remember so many places you ride in this video:D
Greetings from Germany:)
great cinematography here, Seth. kudos to your cameraman
I clicked on your "how to ride street on a MTB" video because I thought I would get some laughs out of it. But honestly you are a really good rider. This is also a really well done video, great job man!
I'll be subscribing for sure, you are doing great things with your channel. Keep up the good work Seth.
What a great and funny video... Congratolations...
It’s five year after this was posted. Seth rode great back then too. I would not mind seeing some fresh street riding some time.
amazing video
Great video.
yeah dude, i am physical therapist and after the work at the hospital thers nothing better to bring back my mental and physical energy as playing in my mtb back to base. im starting to bunny hop and manuals thanks to you bro and im loving it. thank you.... my pedaling fuel are tecolotas (tortas of chilaquiles) XD
hell yeah!
the filming was very nice and good
Seth! Thank you so much for this video! i used some parts of it, like the "cars run on gas, diesel or electricity, bikes run on tacos, and that your body gets fitter. I GOT AN A!!! Ilu seth! keep making these videos!
Awesome Seth. I do this already but not quite as adventurous as you are. I do some minor stunts but nothing like you do. Quite the skill you have.
You're videos are so awesome, but this one stands out from the rest. Convert tacos to pedal strokes... Nice!
“It’s quite common for people to get in gun fights during traffic in Florida, as fun as that sounds I think I’ll stick to mountain biking” lmao probably me favorite part of the whole video
Awesome video ....
You really deserve more subs.
Thanks, it hasn't even been one year yet!
good video . thanks
We love u -Oviedo Florida
Great video , and great idea , one more bike commuting to work means-one less car clogging up the highways , we arrive to work happier . And Iat the end of the working day I actually look forward To my commute , a great way to unwind and leave work behind.
amazing skills :)
Love this video! Interesting note, I ride to work in Santiago, Chile, where traffic jams are known as "tacos." I eat tacos for breakfast and dinner on my way to and from work. My commute is just as fast, if not faster than the bus.
good stuff, seth !! im 54 and dig both!!
Damn dude you have some amazing spots to ride there!
Damn! This is so dope. I wish I could ride like Seth.
Awesome video. I do about 10 bunny hops on my way to class everyday.
I can't wait til I'm this confident and good on my bike 😆
i'm 27 and have never had my drivers license. Never really felt comfortable driving. Been biking and mountain biking all my life though and it's payed off i think! i'm much healthier, i save tons of money and i'm not angry on the road. Video is perfect. Though i'm thinking of getting a truck and license soon so i can get to trails and travel with my bike easier.
wow. great camera panning and stabilization!
I love this
I miss these types of videos.
+Seth's Bike Hacks
your video's are epic
Seth’s riding in this video is very impressive
U R my all time favorite !
i commute to work on a hard tail MTB mostly so i can easily dodge redlights by going through parking lots and hoping curbs BUT you have inspired me to try more fun stuff so ill send my boss this video when he asks me how i broke my arm on my way to work lol
Good filming bro.
I love this video! Made me proud to bike to school :')
Im so insanely jealous of your skills with tricks and all that, I'm wondering how long they'll take me to master 😩
I've been debating getting a mountain bike lately and this decided it for me
Some sweet riding, looks way more fun than road biking!
I've got a hybrid bike and even that thing feels like it's going to explode when going over bumpy roads and sidewalks
This is ur best video
i ride my mtb to collage every day! i live in amsterdam so a mtb is the perfect bike to conquer the cobble stones!
