I’m surprised you aren’t making a recovery camper out of it, a support vehicle for the overnight recovery’s or long jobs. Hard to beat hot coffee and a warm bed on a long cold recovery job that’s a ways away from home. Also doubles as an unstoppable RV.
Hell yeah good idea, something warm that can actually be used for search and rescue/fire crews as a base and as acomm way out in the hills.
I feel this comment needs more likes
Dave..^^
I would like to add, I have no idea how this platform operates and I have no idea if this would be a good idea or even feasible but it sounded cool at the time.
SMA put together a cool sprinter van for the Pikes Peak electric unlimited superbike record attemp, 2013? three PV arrays the shape of the top of the van slide out to 3X the van square foot area. Something like that could be done with a recovery expedition truck with awnings and pop outs not hard to put more than a half acre under shade, inside a windproof air conditioned enclosure. had a job making inflateable buildings that pack down to 3' x 4'' x 5' times two containers, and inflate into an aircraft hangar with 80' clear span, built with two guys in about 4 hours. Hunter Defense. bought the company.
"I was left unsupervised and bought a cement mixer to go rock crawling in."

As a driver of 18 years, I used to drive a mixer truck for about a year and a half. Heavy D, you literally just took my wildest fantasy about trucks right out of my head and you're bringing it to life and you have no idea! I can't tell you guys how amazing this is going to be! I will be following this one closer than any other story 🤣🤣☠️😎💯

Gotta love you unsupervised with your love for heavy machinery, funds, and connections to make it happen and bring us along with it. And love the fact you have the crew with great personality to improv the whole time 😂 love these types of videos

Hans’ reaction is the absolute best when Alan says he uses tide on his hair.
No unwanted chemicals gassing off, I wanna puke walking past all the detergents in the stores. Alan could give Sunlight a try. Sunlight bar soap gently cleanses without drying out your skin. Sunlight bar soap is made with 100% vegetable oils and natural fragrances that is gentle on your skin. It cleanses thoroughly, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth. Was introduced to this bar soap by a 6 foot 6 Polish miner back in 1970s when I worked as a miner in Wawa, Ontario, dam good soap, don't need no shampoo. Handwashed heavy socks to hang up to dry in the dry room with work clothes. Nice clean socks to start each shift!
He washes in Tide because it’s too cold outTide.
He needs to be left unsupervised more
Ya
Yes more unsupervised
You need to turn the mixer drum (once you get the concrete out of it) into the capsule of a rocket. There is a former NASA Saturn 1B rocket on the Alabama-Tennesse state line they want to get rid of.
The salvage possibilities if you can reach orbit are literally out of this world.
Would make a great TV show.
I would love to see it show up at Matt's off Road Wrecker event, if for no other reason than to see the look on their eye's.
Dave should bring the Chinook to the event and start lifting all five of the Isuzus before anyone else can get to them.
I can't wait to see you show up as a "late entry" at the MORR wrecker games 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That would be great!!
I thought the same
To me, these truck are quite unique on their own without altering their appearance. I've seen some in truck shows, but they're usually clean, restored, and look fresh from the factory. But turning one into a rock crawling rig? Now that would be very interesting to see.
Super cool characters and great interactions! Loved it. I felt that they talked honestly and did not aimed their general energy to be liked; how cool is that?! Thanks for the great content; you deserve the ~2.8M
Keep trucking!
I remember so clearly when Matt said that he doesn't want a 5 tons truck for recoverys " because is as off road as a ciment truck"
And now Dave is taking a ciment truck to do rockcroling.
I'm laughing my soul out
Cement/Concrete trucks are amazing my dad drove one for a couple years 6 wheel drive when he was full it was 75,000 inside of the barrel and a 15k truck they’re monsters off-road when empty he use to have to off-road at job sites in the Florida rainy season and those things could be up to the frame and still make it through
Turn it into a safe. For keeping money and expensive stuff.!

there’s another channel which shows they use small charges to break up the concrete without damaging the drum.
Mythbusters figured out how to do it back in 2005.
You have got to be kidding me
BUT YES GO TO THE OLYMPICS SHOW THEM A REAL ROCK CRAWLING RECOVERY MACHINE 💪
They usually have one or two panels in the side that can be unbolted to allow easier access to the inside of the mixer drum. With a jack hammer and some air chisels and really good hearing protection you could make short work of removing any concrete left inside the drum.
If it has a lot of concrete inside the drum,; I have known people who have used a jack hammer to create a "shaft" big enough to put a stick of dynamite into and use that to help break up the concrete. Those drums are pretty tough.
You guys look like a lot of fun! I can't wait to see how this project turns out!
Oh boy!
To say, I am intrigued, is a bit of an understatement.

Thank you so much for taking this down to the olympics to show matt what the largest off road wrecker could really look like. If you do that it would be epic! Just think about all the subs you could gain from it.
I never did understand Matt calling his rig "the world's largest off road wrecker". It's not even close. I've seen wreckers in Australia that would pick it up and toss it like a toy. Not to mention every single army recovery truck.
@@dannyalvarez4259 He specified this in a video. Largest Off-Road Wrecker isnt quite the right term. He even had an example in the video of a bigger wrecker, but he defined his as the biggest functional tow truck (boom, winches, etc) that is a Rock Crawler/Buggy trail capable rig. Sure there are plenty of trucks that are way bigger, and can haul way more, but his will be able to get down those super technical rock trails where people with hardcore equipment go. As Ive said before, the problem with having a super capable rig, is when you get stuck, nobody can come get you. Thats essentially what he is building his wrecker for. He can go get the extreme rigs stuck and broken down difficult trails that nothing else can get through.
Essentially, the Largest Off-Road Wrecker isnt the right term, a more accurate way would be something like the "Worlds Most Extreme Off-Road Wrecker".
@@tennisontower8003 haters gonna hate. No point in trying to explain things to people.

Skeeters trash

@@kevinschewa2927 it sounds like you have personally met Skeeter to know the intimate reasons he has left previous jobs. I have never met him but I enjoy his personality. Until he does something to me, I have no reason to trash him. Everyone has their opinion. There is a fine line between an opinion and being a judgmental person.
There are books and career counselors that guide people to not stay in one job very long. Always two sides to the story. If Skeeter left Matt and Hunter in a bind, then you might be correct about the loyalty statement. Still, not something for me to judge. The world has enough judgmental people unfortunately. Hunter did a video about Dave Sparks giving him the chance he needed. He spoke highly of Dave Sparks. For all I know Hunter may have told Skeeter that it would be a great opportunity to work for Dave Sparks. Until I personally know Skeeter is trash, I will enjoy any screen time he gets and not judge.

I was wounded in the Vietnam War...After I got back from Vietnam in 1970, they re-trained me as a supply technician, which included "Property Books" (Inventory control) One of my jobs was to handle "Turn ins" of Army equipment to be sold at auction. ALL military vehicles have a record book of maintenance/service history. All you have to do is ask for a look at it when you go to auction... in 1975 I went to one such auction as the maintenance division was turning in their parts truck as it was pass it's age (use by date) . A 1968 Chevy "Side Step" pick up...3 on the column, six banger. It needed new wood for the box bottom (I bought a custom kit and a muffler). I read the millage book and since maintenance owned it ...the engine and body was flawless ... picked it up for $800. The only issue when buying is you need to inspect the item as maintenance workers may swap parts to fix another... such as a master cylinder ... be safe ... by the way Delta was there buying a Jet engine from a crashed aircraft ... I was told that wing's side wasn't damage???
That "look" on the opening line... priceless half gleeming happy and half knowing he is in trouble! lol

Never really considered, but a mixer would make a pretty neat/interetsing recovery vehicle or support vehicle. Visibility is unmatched from the cab. But that rear engine kind of gets in the way.
Actually, if the transfer case it towards the front, I wonder if you could slide that engine to mid-ship. Would make quite a balanced vehicle.

You definitely should make it a rock crawler. The seats in the back would be great for people who want to try rock crawling but don't have the money to do so. You could also take people site seeing in it too. Lots of routes you take can take with that idea of a multiple seat rock crawler.
I would make it a crawler with some real big king coil shocks and some huge mickytompson tires with a LOT of weight reduction 🫣✋🤚
There's actually multiple companies in moab that offer that exactly but instead of cement mixers they use humvees with like 10 seats in them.

Yeah Dude! Mix it up Baby!! 🤣
A little interesting bit about those trucks and why they are so capable is they need to be. They can do a lot of things empty but once loaded full of cement they can get stuck rather easy. Back in 2009 we were pouring for a new barn one of those trucks got too close to the edge of the driveway and slid off. This wasn't that bad but loaded the truck didn't have enough power to get out so my brother let them borrow two chains to pull it out with another truck. I guess they didn't know why my brother gave them two chains was because one wasn't strong enough but they tried anyway and broke the chain. My brother didn't trust them for the second time so he got another chain so he had two got out the old Koehring c166 excavator and pulled the truck with that.
Hell yeah 👍 good job 👍.
Can't wait to see this in the off-road Olympics.
A 20 seat rock crawler would be epic, especially when it rolls off one of the rad inclines at Moab! The screaming, flailing bodies and blood splatter would make terrific content!
