I disagree. They used a lot off off axis shots, as opposed to Anderson's signature symmetrical frames -@0:47 is a good example of a shot Anderson would never do. Also missing are birds-eye shots, long dollies, slow-mo, and whip pans. The soundtrack is vaguely Anderson, but not as interesting as Mothersbaugh. The most Anderson-y things about this are the cast and the flat, aloof dialog.
FAYMprod But this one really captures the feeling of a Wes Anderson movie, especially with the sad main character. Most attempts at Wes Anderson parodies focus way too much on the visual style and also fall back on lazy references to various movies and characters of his. This is probably the best parody I've seen.
Some of the still close up shots remind me of Anderson and that's why I was mildly impressed I think. But the way they interpret his characters as noody and sad is strange.
just to be clear netflix didn't cancel it, somebody at netflix leaked there was gonna be a live action zelda thing and Nintendo got scared and pulled the plug on both that AND this.
@@Psycoticlese wasn’t the story that Netflix higher ups intentionally “”leaked”” it to drum up hype and Nintendo pulled the plug because the leak was intentional. So that’s what I meant when I said Netflix were the ones who got it canceled.
@@theroyaltrash I'm not sure I just watched a NormalBoots video on Lost Nintendo shows and that was the explanation they gave. then I came here to watch this relic again and saw your comment. Supposedly Nintendo couldn't trust a company that had employees with loose lips. take from that what you will.
A stop motion parody of Star Fox would actually make the director of the original star fox games really happy. In both animating and designing the original star fox characters he claimed to be really inspired by Puppet dramas, and was a fan of a show called Thunderbird which displayed puppets as its main characters.
You know, this was probably 99.9% sure this was unintentional, but I assumed Fox playing banjo was a reference to the cover of Phalanx, another 90s space-shooter.
Wow, this is pretty nice to reference Star Fox 64. Fox questioning what he does is pretty philosophical. Anyway adding in the quotes spoken from the characters in the video games is just a nice touch to those of us who have played this game before. I like the usage of both the SNES and N64 versions piled into one. The visuals are also great, using nice puppets and great renders. A very finely made CollegeHumor video for the people who were born in the 90s with a pretty good ending.
haha this is brilliant. somehow, the fantastic mr fox movie's fundamental presentation in theme was nailed, and the starfox material in there is golden too.
Nintendo's video game Starfox meets cinema at its best. It may be old news, but it's good news a Wes Anderson spoof animation short by Angry Puppet Films. For a fan of Wes Anderson and stop motion nothing could be better...
Nintendo was going to direct and produce this in collaboration with this channel but Nintendo canned the project because someone at Netflix leaked it before Nintendo was ready for an official reveal
Now that Universal and Illumination are in control of Nintendo Movies this needs to happen for real. Have a Star Fox movie from Sing Director Garth Jennings.
this is probably one of the few college humor videos that's legitimately funny, since it doesn't just look at it's source material and go, "ha ha, that has no logic in the real world"
Sad that this wasn't made just because Nintendo is so unbelievably petty. They got mad because one source at Netflix leaked that it was in production so they decided to cancel the whole project.
"Hey Einstein I'm on your side." XD
what makes it funny is he actually says that in-game
dangermouse_rules that's not what makes it "more funny" that's what makes it funny to begin with.
Foxy Raccoon oh im your side
Can we just talk about how Star Wolf said "I can't let you do that..."?
I can't let you talk about that, Mr. Bailey.
Only if we can also talk about "Hey, Einstien, I'm on your side."
10 years and I'm still waiting for this to be made.

Me too

Peppy's reaction to Fox saying he's felt like a machine his whole life is priceless.
This is pretty good production value for a parody.
Owen Wilson as Falco cracked me up.
WE WERE ACTUALLY GONNA GET SOMETHING LIKE THIS??
AND NETFLIX ACCIDENTALLY GOT IT CANCELED? MAAAAAAN

You know it's good when it's 4 years old and is still better than a lot of crap on youtube. Owen Wilson as Falco still kills me every time.
That was funny but all jokes aside? That animation was freaking amazing!!

"Why I cant bareel roll from who I am"
that actually got me

"Can't let you do that Starfox" and "Hey Einstein! I'm on your side", best scenes EVER
Back when Collegehumor put actual effort into their skits.
Owen Wilson: “Hey Einstein, I’m on your side” 😂😂😂

I REALLY want this to be an actual movie!
If only. *sigh*

The Starfox references cracked me up the most!
Depressed star fox is way funnier than I thought it'd be 😂
how did I miss this 9 YEARS ago. This is amazing.

That was absolutely fantastic.
George Clooney has redeemed himself...
That was extremely well done.
it's ironic because Star Fox has spiraled into nothing but a hyper-dramatic story that just happens to have space combat on the side.
This video lifts me up whenever I'm feeling sorry for myself.

Fun fact: Nintendo actually liked this video.
I wish they'd make this into a real movie.
This is insanely amazing, everything I could hope and dream for!!!
Only one small gripe.. Fox's jumpsuit is green not orange lol
Why didn't this get a million views
Incoming missiles, do a barrel roll
So this wasn’t just a joke
I'd watch it
This could have been a full series with Nintendo on Netflix!
Beautiful work on a Star Fox parody!
This is so well done.
