I'm deeply endebted to Reggie Perrin and my English wouldn't be where it is today without the first book. A relic of happier times when England was still England and despite crippling taxes English comedies & calling a mother in law a hippopotamus were the funniest things on the Lord's earth. Thanx 4 the uploads.
For those who aren't familiar with classic British comedy: If you're reading this after watching the whole series, and you're upset at coming to the end, then try watching Rising Damp if you haven't already. Just as good as this and it also stars Leonard Rossiter.
Series 3 didn't quite hit the heights of the previous series. Except for the second half of this episode. Which was marvellous and terrific (if a little sad).
Yep this was excellent but Rising Damp, absolutely hilarious, Leonard Rossiter, was a class act, first saw him as a foreign doctor in 2001 a Space Odyssey from 1968,
One of the best comedy series ever made along with a few others. OFAHs, Citizen Smith, Rising Damp and Still Game are my favourites.. I wonder what everybody else thinks.
Season 3 should have been the last half of this episode. Reggie ending up back where he was in Season 1 after Grot failed, only with CJ's Brother as the new firm boss and CJ as his immediate boss, but obviously with changes to his new life and a different storyline, it would have been really funny two CJs bothering him all the time. This Episode is the only good one of Season 3 and it's because it persists with Seasons 1&2 and fits and works so well, the rest of Season 3's episodes are rather dull. Wasted opportunity really.
Yeah and what a Shane for the viewing public not to have more of these classics to look back on.. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 Oh well.. LEONARD ROSSITER & all who worked on this? God bless u all.. Not many of 'em left today I'd say..
You have to see the first two series really to put this episode into context. The story is about a man (Reggie) who has a mid life crisis demonstrated by more and more strange behaviour and thinks there must be more to life than the daily commute from suburbia to a bland job in middle management. He tries to rebel with varying degrees of success but his life ends up back where it was. As you see in the end, he once more tries to fake his own death and start again without the shackles of conformity. I think that sums it up.
Well, there is a series called The Legacy of Reginald Perrin, made 15 years after Leonard Rossiter died, but it looks kind of sad; I'm not going to watch it.
It's literally the last episode of 3 seasons of comedy. I'm yet to see a comedy grand finale that was funny. Because if it's still funny, they don't stop. So they often switch to tragedy. Which of course won't pull any heart strings if you haven't built up love for the characters.

I forgot the ending was a sad failure. Great series alltogether. Totally relevant today. Reggie Perrin is a counter culture hero.

the scene with FJ is wonderful, and the "lobster thermostat" bit is wildly funny! John Barron and Leonard Rossiter were impeccable
Just sat through the whole series - sad ending...

Ah, Still Game, I only discovered that last year, fantastic.
Still game is one of the best, and doc Martin also
Lobster thermostat!! Oh my god. Hahahahahahah😂😂😂😂😂
MR FENNEL WAS IN RISING DAMP IN AN EPISODE CALLED PINK CARNATIONS
It's too sad.
You can easily tell who is playing CJ's brother FJ. It is a give-away
I didn't get where I am today by noticing who's playing CJ's brother, FJ
Yes; Alec Guinness.
@@michaeldick6227 nah, it's Veronica Lake

Quite poignant at the end, especially those recurring flashbacks.
All the handshakes are left handed.
Why are the episodes mirrored?
Copyright.
...should have left the deadly tobacco drug out of it!
S 3 E 7 is All??? are you kidding me?????
Unfortunately so. The book also ends in exactly the same way as this episode.

Love them farting chairs!!!!
Cigar?
Also, 12:04-15:27 is the best part
12:58. Never say to a female during an interview.
These mirror-image episodes are pathetic-ville Arizona... Watch a proper copy of this episode here: czcams.com/video/Q_eTr1x750k/video.html

FJ/CJ 🤜🗯🤛😅
Wierd and unfunny. What is this all about? Did it continue?
No sadly♡
About the meaning of life.
Do not worship at the alter of materialism; it will leave you numb.
