Great content! I had no idea you could overlay air mode with horizon mode, or more specifically have it on but not while in angle mode! Lee, you are a fountain of knowledge as always!

Thank youuuu, I was trying for so long to fix this.
I use a three position switch where air mode is on or off and in the third position it sets flip after crash on,
This way I can decide if air mode is on or off and easy to flick it over to off just before landing if you want, or if you just crashed and after flipping back over you can arm with air mode off, and you have more, or a little more, control when taking off again, especially in longer grass.

I always disarm by switch 10 cm above the ground
For 99+% of the landings i agree its the easiest/best way but i do have an switch that turns airmode off in case i will ever need to. Mayby someday when the landing needs to be very precise or i want to land the quad without disarming.
Yup same.
I have air mode off in config menu and don't have motor stop turned on. I have my air mode on a 3way switch , top angle,acro w/out air mode as center ,and acro w/air mode down.That way I can land on small stuff or drag on a railing.

Excellent. Just started flying my first (non-DJI) quad, and I knew that ground bounce was a screwed up flight controller setting somewhere. I'm quite relieved I don't have to start fiddling with pid values though!

I'm surprised it's airmode that's causing this, and not the minimum throttle value.
Can you explain why airmode would cause a bouncy landing, when its intention was to give authority even with no throttle input?
My guess is FC overreacting during ground effect, interested to hear other thoughts
Yep, you've got it. Without AIRMODE the FC isn't overreacting on landing.. Happy flying

AIRMODE on all the time in Configuration tab?
@@Painless360 no, there I can see the switcher. I can't see airmod on the modes tab to connect it to the AUX

So are you saying that in ANGLE mode the AIRMODE is not contributing at all to have a smoother flight?

Does having air mode turned off affect how the drone flies in angle mode? I am new so I only fly in angle mode, but I do want to avoid the bouncing issues.
Only at low throttle. For learning to fly, you can turn it off but it'll mean that when you are at low (or zero) throttle the flight controller will do a lot less to help you.. I'd get used to having AIRMODE on and learn to disarm just before it touches the ground.. Best of luck!

Yep. Most flight controllers will want something other than a PWM connection though.. Sbus is the most common option. Best of luck
Coincidentally I've just set my Rekon3 the same way but it's not working. It still spins up on Arming. Yes I saved OK. Any ideas?

Hey my AirMode is actived but i can’t see it on mods tabs… why?
What software and version?
@@Painless360 betaflight 4.4… i have the air mode actived but i can’t see it on the mods , i see Arm ,Horizon, Failsafe,,Prearm and other things but no Air Mode
AIRMODE is available as a feature in the Configuration tab now. It isn't a MODE anymore.
