I remember Mark Curry from before he was Mr.Cooper. I remember him from HBO and MTV. Mark was THE black comic with material the whole family could enjoy. Him and Rondel Sheridan were my favorites back in the day. Black comedy EXCELLENCE!

He did that joke where he says "What pink floyd album is this' Then he turns around and bends over. And someone in the audience said "The Wall' and he was like 'Thats cold, man.". That guy was funny as hell, but i cant remember his name.

A long time ago in the 80's, Curry was invited to my college (which was off the beaten path), and he was treated like a hero...and the campus was 95% white. He was funny as hell when he performed and was cool with us students. I will ALWAYS be a Curry fan! (shit...I'm old!)

For real and i loved both. Tbh steve harvey show was more funnier to me, and closer to hiphop culture. Mark curry wanted to be like a cosby guy and white humor to appease abc. But the show was cool just didnt move thw culture enough. Imo

The crazy thing is how he didn't take the concept of his show, he used the same exact cover photo Mark did. But, it's pathetic how Steve used a real life moment to garner sympathy from his audience when Mark never used his own story that way. He chose to turn a situation that'll make any child sad and could easily have people sympathize with his childhood self into something that brings him happiness when it makes people laugh still to this day.

Im probably the outlier, but I preferred The Steve Harvey Show with Regina, Romeo and Bullethead Thrown in. I don't really see that much of a similarity between the two beyond a school setting.
I liked both shows and don’t see the similarities either. Many shows are similar- because many are based off real life experiences- and many share similar experiences. 🤷🏽♀️ There is nothing new under the sun.
Steve's sitcom is better and funnier than Mark's sitcom no disrespect to Mr. Curry.
In all honesty I always thought of Hangin with Mr. Cooper as the Black "Three's Company" maybe I'm just old😂 but if anyone remembers the show started with Mark (Mark Curry), Robin (Dawn Lewis) and Vanessa (Holly Robinson Peete). The show changed it's format I believe in the second season but that's besides my point. As a kid of the 90's I grew up watching ( and LOVING) both Mark's and Steve's shows ( I even remember Steve's show "Me and the Boys" (which was before the Steve Harvey show). I never made any comparisons between the two and never would have even considered doing so; they're different and great in their individual ways!

As a truck driver and a diesel mechanic this has absolutely nothing to do with my profession. Everybody in the black community is acting like we're all involved in this. Truckers, teachers, cops and pretty much every profession all have our own inner issues.

But it’s a great example of what happens every day, in every city, in every state! I pay great attention to the state of the world, always have. Many of these people mentioned, I used to lean hard on to get me thru rough times. Rn as we speak, one of the most prolific, charismatic pastors I’ve heard is under scrutiny for acts that he’s done- and I’m here for it! Thjs effects me greatly in many ways,and I’m not going to turn a blind eye to it bcus that’s not my profession. Nvr could imagine going thru life with blinders on! I was born in 1985. I grew up watching “Me and and the boys” that was when I first heard of Steve and watching “Hangin with Mr. Cooper” that was when I first heard of Mark. Mark’s show was funny. I thought it was funnier than Steve’s 2 shows. Mark doesn’t need any apologies from Steve. Mark is his own person. Katt Williams is funny and some of what he says is true but he sounds like a big hater but that’s just my opinion.
Steve lied about being homeless, which was Kat's story. Steve's ex-wife spoke on this very topic before Katt spoke about it. She said that Steve was never homeless a day in his life.
