@@Heradar You're not gonna buy 4 big packs if you actually need a normal supply though.
@@Heradar Suffering from the same problem, it's funny how we start to adapt to use less and less.
DasVERMiT I know. I just want one pack, and everyone is hoarding them, and donating them helps a little but hurts everybody else.
I live in China and nobody buys toilet paper. It’s completely unrelated. I don’t know why people somehow made the connection between SARS-CoV-2 and TP.
To all those suggesting they are party of the problem, you are wrong and here is why. The problem is people hoarding toilet paper, that food bank gets 700 clients a week she said. With this much she will be asked to give out a roll or two per client and probably within a week or two it will be gone as opposed to one person buying enough for the next decade. Buying something to use it right away is fine, just don't hoard it.
Part*
If they were doing it to give away, why not do food instead? I feel like food banks are currently in crisis as less people would be leaving their houses to donate food. It's still a nice thing for these clients to have but I feel like toilet paper is borderline unnecessary as a donation.
@@Mexicanhanu It is best to donate money to food banks and not actual food. They can make money donations go much further than you can buying some food and bringing it in.. They can also get fresh vegetables and such as they need it.. BUT toilet paper they actually can use as people coming in for food will also need toilet paper as those in need are not going to be able to get to places like they did to find some in stock. They will be much more limited. Also trying to source toilet paper might be difficult and not a priority for the food banks (I am only guessing at that)
@@Mexicanhanu While i agree with part of what you're saying the part i see as important here is that food banks are used by the poorest and most vulnerable in our society and will be most affected by the price gouging that comes with this increase in demand and currently food prices are mostly stable but toilet roll prices have jumped up at least in my area and they also mention in the video that the price had gone up. Having this be accessible in food banks is a good thing allowing people to maintain dignity in these tougher times (i also think it would have been nice to make other donations maybe if they'd shown them talking to the food bank asking what the banks needs and getting that as well or donating the profits from this video).
Also, Kruger AKA Purex has a large factory in the region, there will never be long term shortages.
Colton is the kind of guy that gets mad when there's not someone checking his receipt upon exiting a store.

I love how even in the most stressful moments, Dennis can still smile. Dude's awesome.
Hoarding toilet paper totally makes sense, whenever I sneeze 25 people around me shit their pants.
The toilet paper thing is just a mass psychogenic effect, a small group stocked up on tp and everyone jumped on board because they don't want to be left without tp due to the people who stocked up which in turn making them becoming those people.
People are like sheep, they see someone doing it they have to it also.
Initially, people were seeing mandatory lockdowns and shelter in place in countries like China and the fear was that was coming to their local neighborhoods and they didn't want to be stuck indoors with family without TP, hence the initial run on TP. Once others realized that there was a run on TP, people began to hoard it for various reasons. Some out of fear, some thought they could barter with it like currency if society collapsed... its nuts.
I was actually on my last 3 rolls last thursday while doing my grocery shopping and bought the big walmart pack like I usually do every 4 months. Everyone was looking at me like I was crazy... Bad timing
Yeah just like how Bitcoin got started. It's also called a pyramid scheme, and happens in every field one can imagine, cos like you said it takes advantage of the human psychology.
I've recently started including Staples in my shopping rotation. 1000 sheets of premium A4 printer paper has never felt better.

If it were a true Madmax world then heck yeah it'd be useful. But we never went that deep down the ditch. We did suffer quite a lot though, not due to the virus that killed a few more than flu does, but rather due to the overreaching efforts by the governments and bureaucrats who shut down way too much. Now 25.5% of American young 25y or so have contemplated suicide according to a CDC study in 2020. Although there are other factors that does play a factor that is certainly mostly the result of the lockdowns, cos things weren't all that different in 2019!

You'd be surprised. I work at a grocery store in Arizona and my shelves are literally almost completely empty everyday on not only toilet paper, but also canned food, ramen, mac and cheese, bagged rice and beans, water, cooking oil, meats.... it's absolutely ridiculous. Our warehouse can't keep up and our loads are showing up 7 hours late. We closed down our starbucks coffee just so they can get carts and help the front end. Absolute insanity!

A good use of not only this channel but taking a bad situation and making something fun and positive out of it . I had no idea this shit was going crazy up in canada as well. stay safe everyone
I don't understand why people have this crazy obsession with hoarding stuff whenever something happens.
Our grocery stores even sent out emails, asking people to just get their groceries as usual because they weren't going to close and had plenty to go around. Still many shelves end up empty because people just grab all they can.
It's insane.
It's simple: In times of crisis, you want to rely on as little people as possible. Relying on stores to stay stocked depends on many factors, of which all can be influenced. Your own supply can not be influenced by anything, so your own supply is always better. Sure, you can trust that everything will be fine, and you can go shopping like usual, but what if you've got a food supply for a week, and out of the blue, stores close for 2 weeks? It's not likely to happen, but it can happen.
How does your grocery store know your email ha?

Idk about that, near me literally all paper products are sold out. Even Kleenex and napkins.
You ever wiped your butt with paper towels? It just doesn't feel right man, I need my Premium 5 Layered Diamond Clean Toilet Paper
Usually paper towels don't dissolve in water as good as toilet paper.
the paper towels were all gone too in the stores i've been in; i saw a little bit of napkins left though.
Towels are good in a pinch when you run out of TP, but shouldn't be used as main replacement because they don't flush as well, don't dissolve as well and can clog up the outlet pipe. Not to mention they're coarse.
Me and my family did stock up on toilet paper. But instead of buying 10 16-roll packs at once, we simply bought 4 packs over the course of a week one at a time and won't buy anymore until we have 2 rolls left. That's really enough.

Frankly toilet is extremely wasteful and I don't know why so many people use it. (Myself included, this tp rush just made me start questioning the use of tp because I cannot find any) People should be washing their hands after they use the restroom anyways so what if they use a rag(that can be rinsed, washed and resued) or just their hands to clean up. It's just basic hygiene and yes, water does clean better than paper.
Water? what is wrong with water?
Just do it properly and buy a bidet.
We had this in the UK too, and apparently it started off in Australia, as Australia gets most of their toilet paper pulp from China and so when COVID broke out there, and it started locking down there was a realistic chance that they may run out. The UK (and I presume the US) make our own toilet paper pulp and so it was never a problem until people started panic buying.
