Lmao OW is anything but an LGBTQ+ safe haven. The majority of players are misogynistic as hell and will trash on you if your voice is even slightly feminine-sounding. Hands down one of the worst gaming communities to have come to pass. Although it's not the same genre, FFXIV is probably one of the nicest communities out there and will welcome everyone in good faith. OW's trashy playerbase pales in comparison.
this entire thing just makes me sad more than anything else. i remember having a lot of fun with ow1 and even tho it wasn't perfect, it still had a lot of potential. to see it be flushed down the toilet and essentially ruined by awful human beings who have undermined all the hard work done by others is just disheartening. even before ow2, it was apparent things were on the decline with all the bizarre changes to ow1, but there was always a possibility of things coming back, but now there's really no turning back unfortunately. least i had fun while it lasted, that's all you can ask for from a game. goodbye, overwatch.

@SpizeNice how long was the content drought in OW1 again? an now we just got 4 heroes announced in one season, 2 new game modes announced over two seasons, constant events, new maps, etc etc p
@@kernoleary1394 the reason people hate the game is because it goes so against anything the original game had. The original had no microtransactions (or at least, they werent neccisary to obtain anything but rare skins) and you started with all the heroes. There wwere no daily challanges, no grinding, just time to focus on getting good. Then OW2 changed all of that.
What hurts the most is that the original execs and designers that promised the world actually left when they realized it wasn't feasible and then they dumped it onto a completely new group of lead designers and producers. The people working on it now are trying to salvage as much as possible, but it's too little too late and there's only so much they can do. Most people don't even realize that Jeff Kaplan, the guy that promised massive things like the crazy big pve and the large scale OWL, stepped down and that there is a genuinely good guy, Aaron Keller, that is trying to make it a good game again. Unfortunately, he was given promises to fulfill that were never possible in the first place. Because of those original faces of the game people just see OW2 as another big bad corporation suckling money when the devs are actively making strides to better the game and their online presence.
You think Jeff wanted to give this promises?XD When he was talking about OW2 on stage, you could feel he himself hardly knows what they wanted to do XD And its all cuz of upper managment, who pushed this, to make this cash grab, and i believe Jeff left ONLY cuz he saw that what he promised was never really even planned
They're not genuine people, they are talk pieces for bobby. If they were genuine they would've announce that it wasn't possible to do the original vision of PVE from launch. That what they say within a interview for when it was cancelled. They knew people wouldn't buy into OW2 if they announce that right out the gate. So they lie for years.
The sad part imo is that overwatch has honestly really fun gameplay and has had for years now so seeing it fail because of the dogshit that the company has to offer is truly sad
In 2019, the devs said there and then at the PvE demo that it was A proof of concept, and now Aaron Keller down scaled that proof of concept and charged us for it.
The thing is: It's hard to say the reviews on OW2 are truly a "review bomb" as so many people are saying. Over 100k people coordinated to give this game a negative review? Maybe the game is just not liked because of how predatory it is, both the game and it's company. I didn't even know about the net-ease thing in China either so that makes even more sense. Imagine being completely unable to play the game you once enjoyed playing, because the company decided they didn't want to pay for that anymore. Not even that, but I was pretty excited and interested in the PvE of the game. Co-Op PvE games aren't really a huge thing anymore and I love some PvE games to chill and relax with friends. It being scraped, then what was OW1 content being sold for $15 extra dollars (when it was originally free in OW1) is really what deserves the most hate.
"Review bombing" doesn't exist, it's just an excuse to try to cover bad, often anti-consumer practices that they are rightfully getting raked over the coals for.
Complaining about broken promises and predator microtransactions are giving a legitimate bad review. People complaining about their treatment of female employees are just review bombing as that little to do with the game itself. Riot can do the same thing and make products people like.
It's funny how Deep Rock Galactic manages to understand how to deliver what they promised, as well as being an actual fun game where I don't have to ignore how I want to play the game, while OW just gives it's playerbase the middle finger.
Just remember valve toke DOTA away from blizzard, imagine what DOTA would be if valve lost (well it’s not in a good place anyways but could have been worse)
no need to imagine, blizzard did create their own version of DOTA, Heroes of the storm. There were lots of things that were typical for blizzard games at that time: Supports were almost exclusively healers and their heals were very strong, the skill gap between different heroes was incredibly large, some were completely faceroll, some required lots of mechanical skill and new heroes that you could buy with real money were almost always stronger than old heroes. The game was f2p from the beginning and Blizzard stopped updating HotS before the company completely went to $hit so it just slowly died (or it is still in the process of dying depending on who you ask) and there wasn't as much outrage as with OW2.
This isn't Blizzard anymore. This is Activison puppeteering the Blizzard brand name for money. All the people that made Blizzard what it was before the merger left years ago, and all that's left are the executives that have more money than sense. The actual game developers probably didn't even have one say in all the aggressive money-grubbing additions to OW2, it was all the higher-ups' doing.
Blizzard has been extremely problematic from the inside for many years. I'm sure Activision plays a part in the terrible product that is their games, too, but they've been an unethical, lackluster company for a VERY long time, quite well on their own.
They could play ow2 till this year's January and then the chinese servers were shut down. But most of them still had NA accounts so they could continue playing, albeit on a new account. I am a mainland chinese player and tbh a lot of the criticisms are basically the same as the english reviews. Which is saying a lot
Fun fact: The rate of good/negative reviews are the same 4 months later of this video and the most liked, gifted or anything review i've seen (absolute exhausting research of 1 minute) its one spanish opinion saying (translated): "The only way to save this game its changing the fps genre into an interactive porn film". I think he's right.
5:09 so here I have something that I'd like to mention. You said/referred that the PvE could've been a lie this entire time. But that just wouldn't make sense since the gameplay did actually exist and was playable for some people (Mainly content creators and pros) And they did talk about it and how it seemed like there was actual hope for the series once the PvE came out. Also it was very clear updates were being pushed back for the PvE. Though most likely they couldn't deliver on it due to the amount of money it took and the amount of effort so higher ups had it canceled. But no the PvE wasn't a lie (or atleast didn't intend to be because we all know how that went)
According to what I have read, The development of the PvE got cancelled 1.5 years before OW2 release so the devs could focus on PvP to ship the game faster. And this is why the new content the game lunched with felt like around a year worth of OW1 updates :|
This makes me wanna design my own hero shooter with pve. I probably won't make it pvp simply because I do not have the skill or resources to get servers running...
As someone who has played Blizzard games (mainly WoW), since 2005, I feel like I wasted so much time with a company I grew up playing. When these terrible things started happening I questioned myself if I should even play these games anymore. I moved on to other games and after Overwatch started declining in 2020, I started to play more TF2, and only a couple of years ago did I start to pick up Final Fantasy 14 as WoW's replacement game. I wrote a long review on the steam page of OW2 to express how disgusted I was at Blizzard's greed, and them lying about everything. Three and a half years of them showing it off, then cancelling it outright for a basic glorified archive mission mode, locked behind a paywall, was the sole reason I complained about the game. How the heck does that even happen, it's like they took a 3 year break and was like "aw crap we forgot to develop something, let's beg for money", then slapped in 5v5, better graphics, and season battle passes. I have never despised a battle pass so much in my entire life and Blizzard really showed me how terrible it can be. I can't think of a single person who wanted any of these. Even the forgiving part me of can't forgive Blizzard for how awful they've become. At least Team Fortress 2 is a game that can't betray me since I started playing it 2 months after the Orange Box came out.
As someone who puts overwatch 1 as thier #1 favorite game ever, i totally feel the disgust with what they did to this game. Oh well, at least TF2 is fun.

i liked ow when people stopped pretending that it was a traditional fps where they can have the rambo 1v6 clutch tracking god playstyle, and just played goats meta. then blizzard came in and ruined that by enforcing 2/2/2, and the game has gone downhill ever since.
Jesus Christ, how did Blizzard fail so spectacularly at making a PVE mode with character customization? It's not like it's never been done before. They had the perfect blueprint in Borderlands, they've been doing this for decades.
When a new hero comes out, you have to pay for it, or grind away with the *other* heroes in that class until you unlock them. OW used to introduce new heroes by putting a "no limits" mode in. Now it's like they want to make it as hard as possible for players to start using them.
Great video, one minor correction: while heroes ARE locked behind the battle pass, you don't need to buy the battle pass to get them. Some battle pass items are free, most are "premium" (paid) items, the heroes are in the free category. If you buy the battle pass, you get them right away, if you don't, you just have to play for a few hours.
Also, it's China's governments fault, not Blizzard. I will not defend Blizzard, but i won't lie about them either. The Chinese government screws over it's people at absolutely every turn. OBLIGATORY Chinese people = people like everyone else Chinese government = exploitative, archaic, sinister, apathetic, corrupt and dare i say evil.
2:11 Little inaccuracy here, you can grind the battle pass and get the heroes for free, but buying the battle pass unlocks them immediately Also if you miss the hero during the battle pass, you can do some missions to unlock it Doesn't make it much better but it sure is better than "you have to pay for new heroes" Edit : Apparently people can't read more than two lines : I don't support this system either which is why I said "it doesn't make it much better", I was just trying to point out a small misinformation in the video

Something that is rarely brought up anymore is that soon after the announcement of Overwatch 2, the leads were asked about what would happen with OW1. Their response was that OW1 would stay. They flat out lied about OW1. They permanently deleted a game and lied because they knew if people could play OW1 over 2, they would. If OW1 was still around, I would have never played OW2. I would still be playing OW1. Those 3 years without an update were fine. Blizzard had a small team work on skins for each event and the game was perfectly fine.
the game is not that bad as the reviewers said, also the developers are really listening to thee community now and the ceo is leaving next year, so the game is in a better state
“Oh it’s just being review bombed by tf2 players and people who just don’t like it” is what I’ve heard to redditors say. No, it’s being review bombed by long time players who finally get to share their disappointment.
I like when people talk about the bp they fail to state how it really is to make it sound worse. The bp doesn’t lock heroes away for more than one season, after that you play games to earn them or buy them outright to speed it up, is it wrong or right that’s up to you.
Idk why, but I have the feeling that they made a sequel JUST so that they can have "2" in their name, therefore becoming more of a competitor to Team Fortress 2
As a Chinese myself there is another point. Kotick basically meant that NetEase must do their jobs to develop shit for Blizzard and no NetEase is not gonna get their fair share of money.
Small bit of info you missed: The PVE was not a lie, they were genuinely working on most of the content but somewhere halfway through development, all of that had to be scrapped. Many of the assets were reused for the extremely boring PVE that we have now, but that makes it feel even WORSE because you can visibly see the lost potential and the passion of the dev team that got stomped on by the higher-ups.
What saddens me the most is that Blizzard even deleted Overwatch 1, so you can’t even play it like in the good old days

I found out that the artwork section has been removed/hidden. You can guess why lol
"safe heaven" my ass.
@@hoovysimulator2518wait rly ? Thats the funniest thing i have heard in a while
Lmao OW is anything but an LGBTQ+ safe haven.
Stop being so dramatic loool the game is still incredible!! Best place it's been in for years
im really confused, ive been playing ow2 for over a year now maybe and havent really noticed anything bad other than the microtransactions?
@tontheskeleton11 people are pissed its not everything blizzard promised so they're review bombing it saying it's a bad game which just isn't true lol. it's literally blizzards best IP at this point lol.
@@psychokuca302 It feels like the whole Blizzard is burning and crashing down like a zeppelin on fire... Oh, it is.
Team Fortress 2 has seal.
Overwatch 2 doesn't have seal.

do people consider community updates as official updates? That’s basically the same as mod overhauls or entire fan created game modes
the first mission you get, Rio (after the 15$) is the exact same one as showed off and played in a demo in 2019. No changes
I KNEW I RECOGNIZED THAT CUTSCENE!!
Blizzard obviusly was doing a "Get the most Negative Reviews Challenge Any%"
I wonder how all those people under TF2's update pages that kept saying "TF2 dead, play Overwatch 2" are doing right now
The sad part imo is that overwatch has honestly really fun gameplay and has had for years now so seeing it fail because of the dogshit that the company has to offer is truly sad
i feel like im goona be depressed if overwatch 2 fail for some reason
i REALLY miss overwatch. TF2 is really fun for playing silly, but when i want to play competetive, it just sucks.
I love how he used his review series to shit on a game for once
JC: What a shame. It was a good game. *lipsmack
What a rotten way to die.
In 2019, the devs said there and then at the PvE demo that it was A proof of concept, and now Aaron Keller down scaled that proof of concept and charged us for it.
'Overwatch divided by 2' is the better name
Im expecting a mobile port at this point
"Dont you guys have phones?"
The funny part is that the people who left positive reviews didnt even like the game
"The **** is spicy enough to keep the game alive for now."
-literal positive review
It's funny how Deep Rock Galactic manages to understand how to deliver what they promised, as well as being an actual fun game where I don't have to ignore how I want to play the game, while OW just gives it's playerbase the middle finger.
Just remember valve toke DOTA away from blizzard, imagine what DOTA would be if valve lost
(well it’s not in a good place anyways but could have been worse)
Blizzard never had DOTA. It was created entirely by a modder
@@Thornskade They could have. Literally one visit to Blizzard's office is what made IceFrog go from Blizzard modder to Dota 2 lead developer.
no need to imagine, blizzard did create their own version of DOTA, Heroes of the storm.
The game was f2p from the beginning and Blizzard stopped updating HotS before the company completely went to $hit so it just slowly died (or it is still in the process of dying depending on who you ask) and there wasn't as much outrage as with OW2.
it seems statistically impossible and yet every single one of them is acurate
The person who said that the people who make r34 for Overwatch are working harder than Overwatch themselves is spitting straight facts
Gentlemen... we did it
This isn't Blizzard anymore.
I'm sure Activision plays a part in the terrible product that is their games, too, but they've been an unethical, lackluster company for a VERY long time, quite well on their own.
not to forget, the invasion skins are just recolors of uprising event.
It's funny how most of these reviews are from China, considering there only able to play Overwatch 2 now because of the steam localization features.
They could play ow2 till this year's January and then the chinese servers were shut down. But most of them still had NA accounts so they could continue playing, albeit on a new account. I am a mainland chinese player and tbh a lot of the criticisms are basically the same as the english reviews. Which is saying a lot

According to what I have read,
The development of the PvE got cancelled 1.5 years before OW2 release so the devs could focus on PvP to ship the game faster.
And this is why the new content the game lunched with felt like around a year worth of OW1 updates :|
this is the 1 millionth time i see a video about reading overwatch 2 reviews so we dont have to, I CANT TAKE IT ANYMOREEEE

@@nathanadkins7808 I'll definitely have couch co op minimum.

Legends say his brave soul will be reading them for the next 3 millenias...

OBLIGATORY Chinese people = people like everyone else
Chinese government = exploitative, archaic, sinister, apathetic, corrupt and dare i say evil.

Title of the video: "I Read Overwatch 2's Negative Reviews"
Content: About 1-2 minutes reading reviews, 8 minutes explaining the controversies
I feel bad for anyone that still plays this game
