@@blaster6152 5v5 compared to 6v6 is just straight up better.
OW2 is just an update of OW1, and did OW1 let you play previous updates? No, cause that would just take a shit ton of resources for no reason. In the first itteration of OW1 heroes were completely different than during the later itterations, cause that's how updates work, and OW2 is again, just a really big update of OW1.
Plus the vast majority of the reworks just made the game more fun. A lot of them were taking abilities that were just frustrating to play against, and either changing them for something much less frustrating to play against, and even more fun to play with, or just balancing them so they're less frustrating.

ofc this is just counting steam players on pc, but you know i find it hard to believe 20-30 million are playing it considering you cant find more than 15 full servers at any given time
but you know seeing as i dont personally know of any other methods to play it other than through steam, i could be as dumb as a rock for not seeing it buuuuuuuut i highly doubt it considering league of legends, that massive moba game that happens to be one of the most played games has around 150-180 million monthly players, meanwhile tf2 being bot and cheater ridden for quite a while (might be fixed idk) while also being an exceptionally old game without a large rework or massive updates to change the game to attract new players, its a pretty abandoned game, not dead but like foot 1/3 in the grave

you could get them completely free though after buying da base game, each level would grant you a loot box, each week you could get 3 from arcade, and with endorsement levels there was even more ways to get them. Along wit Lucio Ball, Mei's Snowball game, etc. my point is, there was a lot of ways to get them aside from buying them. And never once did they lock them behind a paywall & put completely new playable heroes inside them, all heroes were available everytime they added them, to every player. I remember those days, now I have 3 locked heroes i'll never be able to play bc I refuse to buy them & it takes way too long to get to lvl 50+ to unlock them for free (probably done on purpose so people would buy it instead.) ALSO let's not forget dat fortnite allows you to increase your amount of V-Bucks each season after only paying for battle pass once, pay 950 get 1500 total, never buy it again, along wit a fairly easy leveling system. Blizzard, on da other hand, doesn't even let you break even on credits. You heard me, go count how many you get from completing every battle pass level, then take another look at how much their battle pass costs. It's insane how people actually buy it, you have to buy it every single time with no exception or you don't get their new hero or premium quests to help with unlocking their new cosmetics to go along with said heroes.

1: old skins are still old skins, no upgraded graphics, doesn't look better.
2: Barely get anything from playing without paying for pass.
3: at least with the loot-boxes there was a bit of excitement, and if you didn't get anything new, you would still get currency to buy a skin you wanted (eventually). 95% of the skins in OW1 was obtainable for free.

Basically if you were to put out a post with ANY AMOUNT of criticism, big or small your post would be deleted. So the only ones that would be available to the public would be the ones praising the game. SO naturally when the game comes to a platform that a n y player can put out a review for the game and they don't have control of it. People went ballistic and the end result is what we have now

What hurts the most is that the original execs and designers that promised the world actually left when they realized it wasn't feasible and then they dumped it onto a completely new group of lead designers and producers. The people working on it now are trying to salvage as much as possible, but it's too little too late and there's only so much they can do. Most people don't even realize that Jeff Kaplan, the guy that promised massive things like the crazy big pve and the large scale OWL, stepped down and that there is a genuinely good guy, Aaron Keller, that is trying to make it a good game again. Unfortunately, he was given promises to fulfill that were never possible in the first place. Because of those original faces of the game people just see OW2 as another big bad corporation suckling money when the devs are actively making strides to better the game and their online presence.

They're not genuine people, they are talk pieces for bobby. If they were genuine they would've announce that it wasn't possible to do the original vision of PVE from launch. That what they say within a interview for when it was cancelled. They knew people wouldn't buy into OW2 if they announce that right out the gate. So they lie for years.

The thing is: It's hard to say the reviews on OW2 are truly a "review bomb" as so many people are saying. Over 100k people coordinated to give this game a negative review? Maybe the game is just not liked because of how predatory it is, both the game and it's company. I didn't even know about the net-ease thing in China either so that makes even more sense. Imagine being completely unable to play the game you once enjoyed playing, because the company decided they didn't want to pay for that anymore.
Not even that, but I was pretty excited and interested in the PvE of the game. Co-Op PvE games aren't really a huge thing anymore and I love some PvE games to chill and relax with friends. It being scraped, then what was OW1 content being sold for $15 extra dollars (when it was originally free in OW1) is really what deserves the most hate.

no need to imagine, blizzard did create their own version of DOTA, Heroes of the storm.
There were lots of things that were typical for blizzard games at that time: Supports were almost exclusively healers and their heals were very strong, the skill gap between different heroes was incredibly large, some were completely faceroll, some required lots of mechanical skill and new heroes that you could buy with real money were almost always stronger than old heroes. The game was f2p from the beginning and Blizzard stopped updating HotS before the company completely went to $hit so it just slowly died (or it is still in the process of dying depending on who you ask) and there wasn't as much outrage as with OW2.

5:09 so here I have something that I'd like to mention. You said/referred that the PvE could've been a lie this entire time. But that just wouldn't make sense since the gameplay did actually exist and was playable for some people (Mainly content creators and pros) And they did talk about it and how it seemed like there was actual hope for the series once the PvE came out. Also it was very clear updates were being pushed back for the PvE. Though most likely they couldn't deliver on it due to the amount of money it took and the amount of effort so higher ups had it canceled. But no the PvE wasn't a lie (or atleast didn't intend to be because we all know how that went)

As someone who has played Blizzard games (mainly WoW), since 2005, I feel like I wasted so much time with a company I grew up playing. When these terrible things started happening I questioned myself if I should even play these games anymore. I moved on to other games and after Overwatch started declining in 2020, I started to play more TF2, and only a couple of years ago did I start to pick up Final Fantasy 14 as WoW's replacement game.
I wrote a long review on the steam page of OW2 to express how disgusted I was at Blizzard's greed, and them lying about everything. Three and a half years of them showing it off, then cancelling it outright for a basic glorified archive mission mode, locked behind a paywall, was the sole reason I complained about the game. How the heck does that even happen, it's like they took a 3 year break and was like "aw crap we forgot to develop something, let's beg for money", then slapped in 5v5, better graphics, and season battle passes. I have never despised a battle pass so much in my entire life and Blizzard really showed me how terrible it can be. I can't think of a single person who wanted any of these.
Even the forgiving part me of can't forgive Blizzard for how awful they've become. At least Team Fortress 2 is a game that can't betray me since I started playing it 2 months after the Orange Box came out.
